Chapel of the Light Funeral Home's new 2015 Cadillacs in front of St. John's

St. John's Cathedral, the mother church of the Diocese of Fresno, is a beautiful church. The rector of the cathedral, Rev. Sal Gonzalez, does an excellent job keeping the Cathedral up and gives fantastic, moving homilies. His caring nature calms a families during funerals and instilled the teaching of the Lord during baptisms and weddings. This church is a jewel in the community of Fresno. The architecture, the stained glass windows, the amazing altar, and the beautiful Avenue of Saints provide a comforting place to pray and feel like peace.

Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous roman catholic church, not only to be enjoyed by roman catholics but also for people of other beliefs to visit, tour and experience the beauty of this grandeur Gothic-Romaneque Church. The chapel ceiling, the intricate detail of every part and stainless glass art is just magnificent here. I personally am not a religious person, but I was really amazed with the whole interior look: the rows of wooden seats, the chapel ceiling painting, and the detailed stainless windows was just something everyone should be seeing. This is defiantly a must visit for tourist visiting Fresno. It felt like one of those churches normally featured in hollywood movies, its utterly amazing and breaking. This church is open to all, avoid Sundays or major christian holidays of course and the church is free to roam and enter, but please wear decently and be respectful this is after all a place of religion. The exterior of bricked walls is really outstanding and amazing to spectate, and its amazing twin towers make it hard to miss. There are many white statues arranged around the church too. Street parking here is easy and I would plan to tour maybe 10-20 minutes around. This church is also next to meux mansion, so I would plan to go on a Saturday so I can cover both places, since meux museum is only open 12-3 Fri Sat and Sun.

We could immediately tell that the staff here at church are committed to investing in people and building relationships. I'm happy to say that we are now part of the Hello team and hope to make people feel as welcomed as we were. If you're on the fence about committing to a church, I say to come give it a try and let God do the rest. God bless you!

I recently visited Bridge Church. They are walking distance for me after moving into the area, and…read moreI finally got around to going. I had clicked on their website and watched a bit of the Pastor's message for the morning service and was really touched and decided to go to the second service. I arrived and there were a lot of people outside. It was a small crowd, maybe 80 people. In that size church, all the regulars know each other. I'm sure they could tell I was new. Not one person greeted me. Even inside, a guy by the door to the auditorium didn't speak. I had to tell him good morning and reach out to shake hands. An important part of Church for me is worship. The praise team was talented with a lead singer who has a wonderful voice. They sang some nice contemporary songs. Unfortunately for me, there was no section where there was a place for the congregation to sing along in an extended way ( for example, repeating choruses of "You are Holy, etc."). That is the part where I can really lose yourself in worship and be lifted by the spirit. I'll have to keep looking for a Church where that is part of their Worship as this type of thing really blesses me. I want to be part of the Worship, not just listen to songs, even if sung beautifully. I guess that is why there are so many Churches, so different people can get what they need! The Pastor gave a great sermon. I was really drawn to the focus of living the teachings of Christ instead of judging others. Putting the emphasis on love instead of judgement of others. Yes! His Sermon was just the kind of approach to Christianity that I want to be part of. It is sad for me that the other important parts of going to Church were not what I need: Worship and Fellowship. There was no place in the service where we were asked to greet others around us. I found that lacking because one of my reasons for going to Church is Fellowship and Community. Leaving the Church, no one spoke to me. How could my experience have been improved? Add a space for fellowship during the service. Have the congregation look around and greet someone and shake hands. The new attendee in the group will feel seen and welcomed. Have people by the doors greet people coming and going. This provides a welcome. I felt completely invisible there. In a Church this size, everyone knows everyone and they know when there are new people. I grew up in a Church this size and we always knew if people were not regulars in the congregation. You grow the Church by welcoming and including new people, not ignoring them. I will tune in at home to catch the Pastor's sermons from time to time, as he really fed me with spiritual food I really needed. Thanks and God Bless you, Pastor!
