Going to a new pain dr is extremely stressful. My last 3 retired. So i sat in waiting room 3 hours 45 min. Finally was called back where I waited more. He finally comes in where i start relating my problems. He has a look of "extreme - hurry up i could care less- on his face. We spoke all of 10 min. Due to my job of 30 years of owning 8 martial arts schools, an riding an showing speed horses, and a car landing on top of me what my body has been thru with injuries has left me at times crippled. But this is what got me most. I had taken a trip to AR to look at houses. I was in such pain in left side (had been for yrs. This was worst. I tried to go to ER the night befor i left but couldnt drive myself the 11/2 hrs to get there. So next morn i had to drive the 4 hr trip home. i was passing out from pain almost wrecked about 8 times. Almost side seiped a biker an lost control. All over the road. Came to, and pulled over. Somehow i made it. So I proceeded to tell dr, how bad it was, blacking out from pain and he said, " I DONT HARDLY BELIEVE IT". Calling me a liar essentially. or saying lets find out why. His face totally dead pan. So our 10 min were up. Said hed give me a shot. About 10 people waiting for shots in shot area. After another hour i told nurse i was leaving. She said wait a little linger. So i did. But my pain had increased by at least 10. I couldnt take anymore so i walked out. This office over booked by 100%. Others in waiting room talking an unhappy. His bedside manner horrible an cynical. Pain management has to be hard. But they signed up for it. So if they cant take heat they should get out of kitchen. Also i get a bill for $33 plus. No name of what dr. Not their address. No full listing of what it was for. How am i supposed to know when its months later after sending thru medicare. $400 for a office visit that i went thru a terrible day for nothing. When i called billing to discuss my problem they said it wasnt their dept, contact office. Contacted office explained all this I wrote. They said not their dept contact billing. Just who or what, whos job is what, is the question. We are supposed to pay, pay, pay on time when its bad, bad, bad work. Im reporting to medicare. This is why we are paying so much an why most cant afford. Do not go here. The best dr i had for 14 yrs retired. I cried because i knew this is what would happen. Save your miney an dont let a friend go here either. Will they fix THEIR problem? NO because its about the almighty $$$$

For the past six years, I have had debilitating lower back pain. I've had to stop working out, and I've had days when I could barely walk across the room. I've gained weight, lost sleep, and have really struggled. The most frustrating part has been that no one could ever tell me what was wrong with my back. My scans showed some swelling in my SI joints, but that was always the end of it. A year ago, it was discovered through a blood test that I possess the gene HLA-B27, which can indicate the presence of a disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis. So there it was: an answer! But even after previous doctors saw this, they were hesitant to diagnose. Why? I have no idea. But I was always just put on pain medications, which is never a good answer. I actually stumbled into Dr. Paul by accident when my previous doctor was out on leave. She was the first person to have a long, focused conversation with me about what was going on, and diagnosed me with AS pretty much immediately. It was such a relief to have an actual answer. From there, I was put on the appropriate medications, and was pain-free almost immediately. It's been several months and I am still feeling amazing. Dr. Paul is an exceptional doctor, and spends time addressing questions and concerns, which I've found to be really rare with rheumatologists. She changed my entire life and I'm back to functioning at 100%, which I'll never take for granted. I cannot recommend her enough. Kathy, one of her staff, has been wonderful as well. Truly a great group of people.

The physicians assistant says they only offer interventional pain relief. What does that mean? Do they review the referral notes sent by primary care physicians? I don't think so.
