This is a small aquarium, like tiny. If you are looking for a traditional one then this is not it. With that being said, they offer a lot and it is super affordable and interesting- can spend a good hour or more here. Employees are knowledgeable and upbeat. Upon entry there is a larger aquarium with a good variety of fish. Along the sides there are more of these, with various fish species. Along the way, knowledgeable employees to answer questions. My kids fave, the touch tank- with the shrimp among other creatures. Great way to educate the kids (and yourself) and do something different. read more

Aquarium The St. Lucie country aquarium is a tiny little place located in Fort Pierce on the water and should be part of any kiddie day out. The location is very small- there are no large tanks of ocean fish here, so with that being said, the place is very well done at a level that the littles can enjoy. Admission is extremely affordable and the tanks of things that are available are well presented and afford a teachable moment. There is a nice "touch tank" off to one corner of the building that was expertly manned the day we were there and the tank contained a small selection of pretty cool sea creatures that you would not normally come across; for example, sea cucumbers. As you walk around the building, they also have tanks with little petrie dishes sitting next to them with microscopes on them - which are then displayed on a screen so you can get a glimpse of sea life that is microscopic - I found those to be extremely cool. The people working there are very passionate and knowledgeable about what is in the tanks. Too bad it is so small - I'd love to see it maybe double in size. Outside you can walk over to a little playground and there is also a beach across the parking lot - you can make it a day out if you also hit the beach. Give it a whirl. I didn't pay more than $16 for me and my three kids. it's a cute little aquarium not very large but good enough to show the kids some sea life. What I love most about this place is how the staff comes up to the children and talks to them shows then what they're looking at instead of the kids just staring they're getting education of the sea life they're looking at. They have a small gift shop that carries books coloring books toys stuffed animals necklaces. My kids had a great time touching some of the little crabs everything is monitored by an employee that works there. The facility is clean it had a good time even though it's small we easily spent 45 minutes in there, if we didn't leave we would've stayed longer. read more

This is a very small aquarium (5,000 square feet) but it only costs $4 to get in, $7 if you buy the combo historical tour ticket. Admission is free on the first Tuesday of every month. The aquarium is managed by the St. Lucie Board of County Commissioners and the Smithsonian Marine Station in Fort Pierce. Inside the aquarium is the Smithsonian Marine Ecosystem exhibits which explores the Indian River Lagoon. The Indian River Lagoon stretches 156 miles from Ponce De Leon Inlet to Jupiter and contains over 3,000 different organisms. A popular exhibit is the living model of the coral reef ecosystem that was displayed in the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC for twenty years. The six aquarium tanks are models of the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. There is also a touch tank, shells, and other interactive hands on activities. When combined with the history museum you can spend an afternoon at Museum Pointe Park. My favorite exhibit in the aquarium was the seahorse tank. There is also a small gift shop that carries marine related items. It was nice to see families members of all ages enjoying the aquarium together. If you have a love of the ocean and the creatures that inhabit it you will want to add this place to you Fort Pierce itinerary. read more

This is one of the few things to do in the area, besides going to the beach. Great option for a rainy afternoon. This place is not very big, just one big circle of various tanks. I highly recommend going when there is a tour scheduled. It was so much more entertaining to hear about the fish in the tank, the waters they live in and to watch the feedings while a guide was there. The touch tank is also pretty cool, again knowledgeable employees working there make it so much better. Explaining the animals you are encountering and helping you get the best experience. This is a very nice little aquarium to go to especially if you have little ones. Admission is $4 and children under a certain age get in for free. I believe it may be under 5 years old. I would double check on the website. Didn't talk to the staff much but they're friendly and say hello when you walk in. There's a little gift shop in there as well that you can go into. They have a children's area as well where they can color or play with the animal puppets. There's a touch tank and some tanks that show different ecosystems. Fun little aquarium. And by small I mean small, but they make up for the small size with their beautiful fish and marine creatures displayed in big tanks right when you walk in. The best part is the touch-tank, which is supervised by a nice young lady. Before interacting with the touch tank you must first wash your hands and you must only use two fingers to touch the animals- I appreciate the care taken for the well-being of the animals in this way. You can gently stroke the sticky sea slugs and get your fingers tickled by the shrimp! Please take care to be nice to the tiny creatures if you plan on playing in the touch-tank, because they are fragile. And remember to turn off the flash on your camera if you take pictures :) read more

Okay, this is when Yelp is seriously misleading! So, on the weekend, I had to meet my friend from Melbourne, and we chose Fort Pierce as a midway point. I was looking forward to see an aquarium. We paid $4 each, and then went inside. It is basically the size of my house, you just walk around in one circle around the tanks, and...that's it! You're done! I made a second round thinking I missed a door to another exhibit, but no, that was it. I couldn't even be mad. It was so bad that I just laughed. The exhibits were geared towards preschool kids; the signs had things like "count the number of seahorses" , and there was an area with stuffed animals for kids to play with. If you happen to be relaxing at the adjacent beach (this aquarium/house is right next to a park with pavilions, boats, and fishing), or have young kids, maybe it's worth a look. But, I would definitely not drive out for this excursion. I have learned my lesson-everything rated highly on TripAdvisor on Yelp is not necessarily outstanding! read more

Great little aquarium for a great price! The volunteers there were full of information. Their exhibits were all interactive and easy to learn from. I never heard of a panda dolphin. They didn't have one but showed you one in plush form. There is even an open aquarium where you can touch some neat marine creatures. read more

This is a nice facility. The first Tuesday of every month is free admission (be nice and give a donation any how tho you cheapskate). The staff is very friendly and knowledgable and willing to share as much information as your willing to learn. There is a touch tank and various different areas that represent the different aquatic communities of south Florida, focusing on Reef's and the Indian river lagoon. No, this is not the Boston aquarium. The intent is not to just walk around and say ooooo look at all the pretty fishes. It is definitely smaller, much smaller, but It is only $4 for adults and children under 3 are free. If you are willing to take the time to listen and read you can spend about an hour learning about the various species and their habitats in the surrounding aquatic communities. All in all I think it is a great resource, there is also a nice park and large beach right near it to enjoy before and after your visit. read more
