My husband and I both go to St Lukes. It's exceptionally clean, all the staff are ready to help in anyway. The doctors give excellent service. I had a accident earlier this year, they took me to trauma center Mercy. I hurt my wrists and staples in my head. I told them my wrists hurt. Said nothing was wrong. When my Rheumatologist took a scan of my wrist. Immediately sent me to my Orthopedic doctor i had a Ulnar fracture. read more

In early June 2026, I found it necessary to find a new St. Lukes Hospital Primary Care physician as mine was moving to far from where I live to be realistic. I searched on-line at St. Lukes Hospital website and found a doctor who was taking new patients; getting an appointment for the first week of July. I duly showed up that day and upon entry to sign in and confirm I had arrived; I went to the counter to speak with the receptionist. My attention was quickly drawn to a series of grooves in the counter, presumably a design feature. My attention was drawn there because of the massive amount of grime in the grooves. IT WAS OBVIOUS the counter hadn't been cleaner in WEEKS, if not MONTHS. I took a picture; feel free to download it and throw up. My new primary care doctor (Kyle BRANSON) was pretty good, and I have no complaints with his care; such as it was. Needless to say, my visit included an order to visit a Quest Diagnostics lab for bloodwork; which I immediately arranged, and did attend, on the following Monday. So far so good. Unfortunately, due to issues with Quest's system, I was unable to obtain my blood work results. No biggie, I thought, I'll contact the hospital. Before I got a chance to do so, I received a letter that day, telling me Dr. BRANSON was leaving St. Lukes hospital. QUITE WHY I COULDN'T BE TOLD THIS AT THE TIME I MADE MY APPOINTMENT TO SEE HIM IS TOTALLY BEYOND ME - WHY WASTE MY TIME SETTING UP A NEW PRIMARY IF HE'S LEAVING ANYWAY!!! Anyway, I contacted St. Lukes again to inquire about my blood work to be told that they do in fact have the results, and they would leave a message with the physician; and to expect a call within the next twenty-four to 48 hours. It has now been six days and surprise, surprise, NOTHING. Methinks, it is time for me to seek greener pastures when it comes to my care; St. Lukes cannot be relied upon to provide appropriate care and services!!!! read more

I was recently in the emergency department with low sodium and stomach pain when the nurse came in to start the IV she got an attitude because I asked her to place the IV near my elbow and she said sarcastically " what are you talking about!? We arrived July 7 2026 at 8:00pm and it is now midnight. My nephew made it to a room which we've been in for an hour waiting on the doctor to review the scat scan and blood work. He had a lump on his.chest that developed over the weekend. It is progressively getting larger and very red with heat. It's infected and as of yet no antibiotics or any meds have bedn given. We started at Urgent care and they sent us here for further Evaluation. This has been the longest wait ever to find out nothing so far. Tomorrow is a work day for both of us and here we are at what appears a very under staffed ER. My dissatisfaction with the care and communication is sad. I will never come to this ER again. This used to be far and above every other hospital in St. Louis. The care was amazing and the staff all superior. It is now just as bad as the other hospitals in the area. The administrative staff is rude, the patient advocate's office need training and there is no compassion. I have been treated here for 40 years and all my doctor's are here. They now also expect you to leave your loved ones alone in the ER and they will call you HOURS later when they are being seen. Expected me to leave my 81 year old Mom alone after a fall with no phone. The new CEO has been there since 2022 and his hiring seems to align with the decline of the hospital. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Go somewhere else. You will not find any better care at St. Lukes anymore. It was a good run. read more

The nursing staff is caring and 5 stars for Josh the RN in the ER. He's the best! ER doctor, Dr. Sepula, was very thorough in examining my loved one. Monica from registration had a great sense of humor and we enjoyed our time with her. I really wish the wait time in the ER was less. This hospital has saved the lives of both my parents at one point and I will be forever grateful for that. read more

U THREW ME OUT WITH SEVERAL WORKERS/SECURITY 1 WEEK AFTER MAJOR BACK L3/L4 FUSION SURGERY. Below is Text I sent to worker wanting to come to my house. ((You St. Lukes people are out of your minds. You are NOT coming near me. St. Lukes kicked me out yesterday (Monday 3-9-26) with glucose 284 where I could not stay awake in chair by shower after shower. They took me outside. Security guards brought my car. The horrible nurse that kept treating me horrible made me get in driving seat knowing I was alone and no one to help me at home. Had my major back surgery of L3/L4 back fusion surgery one week ago Monday 2nd where I am NOT allowed to drive until I see my Dr. that did my surgery not only due to severe pain and meds. But, also for the need for sudden reflex and strength to press pedals. They through my stuff in car mixed up with me not knowing where anything is. They threw heavy items ON MY CANE IN BACK SEAT! MONSTERS!!! I HAVE PIC OF IT. Don't forget to remind them I really struggle 24/7 with my autoimmune disease Small Fiber Sensory Neuropathy that you INSTANTLY put me into BAD spell that wreaks havoc on my entire nervous system inside out ALL of me giving me any or all symptoms you can think of anywhere any way it wants in my body!!! From sensory like feeling the severe burning, pulling prying feelings as if I'm being skinned like a deer Only ALIVE with my meat slowly being torn off my body parts/organs/ribs. Which I have terrible all over back and extra rib growing in neck area between shoulder blades. In ONLY 10 minutes late of my gabapentin late I get the pain in my lungs also feeling like on fire. You were late around 1-1/2 hour not giving a care I will have to check the things I documented. I was brought back to your hospital from the horrible rehab you sent me that refused to give my nerve pill on time sending me into countless spells that is extremely hard on my entire nervous system, wears me out totally exhausted making it near impossible to concentrate on my L3/L4 fusion surgery that I was there to recover for. I demanded to go to another rehab. Your hospital insisted I come back to hospital through ER probably take 2 days to get into the hopefully Festus rehab. Was supposed to be I'm rehab most of this week, then evaluated for home help with medical ride home. Then after I got ride to my dr appointment later, I would go by to get my car IF DR SAID OK TO DRIVE BY THEN. You people not only did way worse on my meds not shutting up blabbing with tons of people coming to ask questions before you would give me my gabapentin that every single person there knew I was there because rehab would NOT give me my gabapentin ON TIME CAUSING PAINFUL SPELLS that also shoots my vitals way out of wack. Waiting too long sends my glucose near 300 (that nurse told me I was perfectly fine at 284 glucose and gave me my metformin on way of throwing me out that they failed to give me while there) NO St. Luke's I am NOT fine like that. That is why I was sleeping in chair in bathroom doorway after shower. It was so high I could NOT stay awake. On way driving home at stop light on hwy 141 about 5 cars back, I fell asleep St. Luke's forcing me to drive!! A honk woke me up to go. All cars had gone through light leaving a lot of space from me to light. I had to stop to nap in my car until my glucose came down that I took my gabapentin after your hospital threw me out. I hope there are cameras at that stoplight working. When I'm better, I will try to get it held against St. Luke's gross negligence medical malpractice. Nurse just got on to me you knew this was coming. Why aren't you packed ready to go. I told her my vision was blurred, I was weak and could not stand up or would pass out. I said I had no one to drive or at home to help me and was NOT supposed to be like this. I demanded MANY times to see the Dr in person. I was denied all times. My blood vessels do not work properly in my SFSN as in open close the valves at proper times to deliver oxygen to every inch of me inside out bones, meat, muscles, heart, lungs, everything. NO your stupid finger thing saying my oxygen is fine is FAR from Close to MEANING my oxygen in my body is actually being delivered properly to everything in me. I do NOT want you or anyone having to do with St. Luke's that deliberately refused to listen to me and care for me properly coming to my house or near me ever again. You make sure you tell them they better NOT delete any camera footage of me in that hospital and especially the 10 minute cruel security escort throwing me out. But, requiring the security guard to get my car and bring it to me. And the nurse required to help me in my driver's seat that I was unable to do myself. We grew up in Ballwin, so st. Luke's was ALWAYS our go to for a pretty much any type of care. We would be in and out in an hour or two or LESS. I mean EVERY TIME. But now I'm convinced this hospital minimizes the level of pain expressed by the black patients, particularly the black women. This last visit really took the cake. I got there at 2:30 & it was really packed already. By 4:30, there were no seats for most people. There was a black woman there THROWING UP in the waiting room and she was seen after a TON of white people who came in after her and after me. When I went to ask the nurse, with ugly fake eyelashes (who is also a white woman) how long would it be, she would rudely tell me that she doesn't know and there are people sicker than me. Just exactly how do you determine that someone is sicker than someone else?!?!! You mean to tell me that all these white people that came in after me just so happened to be severely sicker than me? I doubt it. Most recently, I've come here literally 3 or 4 times, within a 3 week span, for my severe sciatic nerve pain. 2 of those times I walked out from waiting over 3-8 hours without being seen!!! The first time I came in for my sciatic pain, I was there for 45 minutes. In, seen, out. I was so happy to see not much had changed. But I was wrong. Every visit after that was awful. The next visit, the ER doctor told me he was going to keep me overnight, fine. I sent my husband and three small kids home. At 4 o'clock in the morning, the same doctor comes in my room and tells me that I can no longer stay because my CT scan came back clear. And proceeded to tell me I could go home. How am I supposed to get home?!?!? I'm not waking my husband and kids up at 4 IN THE MORNING, to drive all the way back out here to pick me up. So I demanded that they pay for me a cab to get home. He told me I misunderstood him. Sir I speak English very well and heard you clearly, why would I send my family home If I wasn't sure if a medical professional told me that I was going to be staying all night? That makes no sense. The next two visits I came and waited 8+ hours and was never seen. read more

One set of crooks sent me a collections notice for a bill never received. Do not use under any circumstances. As a whole, my worst experience in a hospital. I believe they are exist only to collect money not to solve medical problems. The doctor I seen was as poor at communicating as he was at listening. I guess I should be thankful that he didn't perform the procedure. The procedure was performed by a Canadian, yet I had to listen to his favorable opinion on American conservative politics during the procedure. Too bad I wasn't put to sleep for the procedure. Overall the cyst on my thyroid wasn't fully remedied. No effort was made to explain its cause or investigate. The only effort they spent on me was collecting the money. They spent tons of effort there. They took me to court to collect the money that insurance didn't cover without communicating to me what was owed. But more importantly, they never solved the problem with my health. It's as if the only thing they care about is taking your money. At St. Luke they're bad at removing cysts, but really good at removing money. read more

I wish I could say more positive things about the check-in but these girls are not kind. I can't pretend to be a medical worker, but I think a borderline care and respect is reasonably expected. I was very disappointed to find that my screaming mother didn't warrant enough time and patience for one of the workers to explain the process instead of staring like I should already understand. The care once in the hospital is phenomenal, however the reception is cruel enough to sour milk. Change their attitude or change the workers because this is not who should be the face of St. Luke's hospital, it's under representative of the expertise/care specialists and nurses have to provide. read more

I took a friend there for her procedure. Assistance was immediate, frequent, and her procedure was on time! After care was also prompt and caring with patient in mind! Procedure took place in the cancer wing and was a lung biopsy procedure. Results were also very prompt which means a lot! read more

while Checking in for a blood test, I was treated very badly by a young lady who got really upset because I couldn't hear very well through the glass barrier. She went straight to race and was yelling at me. I made a complaint and was ultimately told she received counseling. After being a patient of St. Luke's Neurology St. Louis MO and having routine pain management for years, my sole pain medication (prescribed by their office on monthly basis for years) was abruptly cut off with absolutely no notice and no plan for any alternative. I had good care from the majority of the office, but the recent lack of planning and poor patient care will necessitate changing neurologists. When I pointed out that the doctor whom I saw most recently gave no indication of stopping my long-term med, I was given various excuses: office policies (new perhaps, but still no excuse for no communication), no mention of this particular med in visit notes (blatantly false, as clinic notes include med in list of current meds & mentioned multiple times throughout the report), pain management not offered by the neurology office (huh? It's been prescribed for me monthly for years). I hate to post a bad review but even though this was a 1 time occurrence, any patient dealing with long-term pain can understand why this is flatly unacceptable. read more

Now I have a bill for almost $800! Now they are trying to say I have not met my deductible and the insurance did cover it but I am still responsible for this part. My brother was brought in with reoccurring sepsis symptoms. From the emergency room care to the doctors and nurses on the ICU, step down and surgery floors he has received great care. 2/13 I asked for the doctor which was Dr. Krits physician on call. I asked him if he'd give my brother a different medication for his blood pressure due to my brother blood pressure being 204/104!! The clonidine patch was useless. He says no he's going to keep him on thee same medicine for blood pressure. He was extremely dismissive. Then I asked him if he could tell me anything about my brother, he mentioned 2 things. Then said "look I'm just filling in and dealing with a person having a heart attack down stairs" and left!! Afterwards, Julie the ADON came address my concerns. She understands the process when you have a neurological problem that it's not going to happen overnight. She was extremely knowledgeable and had know problem answering nor explaining. Fast forward to 2/14, I specifically went in early to see the actual doctor who's supposed to be treating my brother. Which is Dr Alkaade, I asked him what's next when it comes to my brother memory and well being. He flat out said I'm sorry but I don't know what to do!! So to some it up my brother is really in the St Luke's just getting dialysis treatment. I asked if he could be assigned a new neurologist. Or even be transferred to Mercy New Ballas, I was told he has to be accepted. With all that being said, my brother had an amputation months back and needs a sitter in the room since he's had a seizure. From 3pm-7pm he didn't have one. So I asked to speak to the supervisor @8pm hospital supervisor Lisa on duty stormed in far across the room, neck rolling and hands on her hip's asking how may she help me? To prevent me from yelling across the room, I said let me come closer cause it seems like you have an attitude. Verbatim she yelled no I don't, FUCK YOU I have somebody for you then storms down the hallway. 20 minutes later security came and ADON on duty Michelle came. I'm coming out of maternity leave for a few minutes to write what might be my favorite review of all time. St. Luke's and all of the nurses there made my childbirth experience so wonderful that there aren't enough stars in the world. We chose St. Luke's because that's where my OB is located, and we were really impressed with the maternity floor. There were always a couple of babies in the nursery, but it never seemed too crowded. We also took their childbirth class and knew at that point that St. Luke's was where we wanted to have our daughter. My due date was close to Christmas, so you can imagine my surprise when my water broke at home on November 19th. We weren't really sure if it was the real thing, so we called the maternity floor at St. Luke's. They are always available 24/7 for questions, which was so helpful leading up to my daughter's birth, especially in this case. The nurse I spoke with told me I needed to just come in so they could figure out what was going on, so after a lot of scrambling and throwing random items into a bag, we were on our way. If you are in labor after normal hours, you enter through the ER and they take you up to maternity. I got checked in, and after only ten minutes, the nurses confirmed that my water did break. SURPRISE! From there, there were a few hours of relaxation and then an insane amount of chaos. My labor progressed so fast that my doctor couldn't even take the elevator; she had to run up the stairs. A few minutes later, my precious girl arrived. Thankfully, I had my epidural about twenty minutes before that happened. I was so happy that my nurse encouraged me not to wait; her exact words were "it's not the time to be a hero." Had she not encouraged me to get it when I did, I would have missed my window. I cannot speak enough about the nurses at St. Luke's. They calmed my nerves. They always made sure I had what I needed. They knew when I needed a joke, and when I needed to be left alone. They anticipated my needs and hard moments. They genuinely cared about my family, and took such wonderful care of my girl. What I appreciated the most was that they took her to the nursery to make sure I could sleep... I've heard nightmare stories of nurses wanting newborns to "co-sleep" in their mom's hospital room, and honestly the rest that they gave me made the first few nights at home bearable. The house pediatricians on staff were also incredible, and stopped by each morning to update us on our baby's health and answer all of our questions. The lactation specialist, Pam, deserves her own five stars. Having Pam there was like having the world's most loving and supportive grandma in the room. She had my daughter breastfeeding in no time, and was so encouraging and loving. We wanted to bring her home with us! I was sad to leave the hospital, and I feel like most people can't wait to get home. We are forever grateful for our experience at St. Luke's, and they should never be overlooked when considering a place to have your baby! read more

My wife was there 4 days after major back surgery. The nurses were really good but had way to many patients per nurse. The techs were a joke. In 4 days her bed was never changed nor was her gown. She would call for help and no one would respond. She got no help getting up to use the bathroom. The Physical Therapy was great The room was a joke. The bed was worn out. The chairs ancient and she had no recliner to sit in. I would not recommend this hospital read more

Emergency room front desk triage was possibly the rudest person I've dealt with in healthcare... ever... she was curt and spoke intensely fast not waiting to hear the information being provided... my 85 yr old father came in with blood pressure of 200/130.... Double vision, shortest of breath... and a headache... she rudely told him to wait in the room and he would called at some point for a CAT scan.... The waiting is not the issue. It was the manner in which it was done... almost as if she was on some sort of stimulant... she had brown hair in a pony tail and I was actually afraid to ask her name she was so intense. I called in regards to my husband's bill. We should have not received any bill because we were already at our out-of-pocket maximum. I let the associate know that in the first thing she wanted me to do was call my insurance, because they don't deal with that. Fortunately, because this is not my first rodeo with insurance, I had the EOB in front of me. When I pulled up that EOB it looks like they were already paid the amount that they were trying to charge me. I let her know that and she started investigating it and saw that they should have received a check. She is now doing her part, on her end. Had I not advocated for this bill, I would have been wasting my time, on the phone with my insurance company. St Luke's, before you automatically jump to the comment"You need to call your insurance company and discuss with them... We have nothing to do without a pocket max" maybe you should patiently check the EOB on your end, first. read more

I came from Oklahoma to come to this facility just to be treat by Dr. DeRosa (who is out of this world top notch). The hospital is very well laid out in a very nice community. Everything is clearly marked, and navigating around the facility is easy. The hospital itself is clean, bright, open and welcoming. The staff were nothing but extraordinary to me from the lab staff, ultrasound techs, nurses and registration. I'm so very happy and pleased with how transparent billing was for me and very easy to understand. Everyone I encountered was so kind and patient with me. I'm so thankful for everyone at St Luke's and for the remarkable care I received. Highly recommend!! read more

Just a shout out to Lorenzo who was helping people come in at the East Medical Building on July 11, 2024. He was SO helpful! I was needing to get my mom out of the car to wait for me while I parked. The lady behind me was upset I was stopping to let my mom out (she later apologized) and Lorenzo let me know that I was doing exactly what I should be doing. He was kind and helpful and showed my mom a place to sit while I parked. What a bright moment Lorenzo was in our day! read more

Always love Saint Luke's. Since we live a little further from it now we took my daughter to SSM last month when she was hospitalized for a seizure. It was an awful experience. My son had an emergency experience last weekend. I know 2 ER visits in 2 mos! Anyway I decided to make the drive to St Luke's this time. Awesome caring, informative experience. Drew our ER nurse.... I took my grandpa, who was starting to have problems with dementia, to the ER and sat there from 8pm until 6am waiting to even be seen for a condition that can kill the elderly within hours (severe dehydration and bladder infection) they admitted him and then the regular doctor discharged him because my grandpa told him that he felt fine and didn't want to be there. Poor customer service. Left with tab for admittedly incorrect bill. I went to St. Luke's Urgent Care for a rapid strep test as directed by my St. Luke's primary care physician. When I arrived, I was told I needed an order for the test or I would have to see the doctor. I called my primary care physician for the order but only got the answering machine. I waited three hours to see the one physician while numerous people with orders got their tests and left. I finally saw the doctor for one minute and got my test. It was negative, no Rx needed. One month later, I get a bill for an emergency room visit ($250), not urgent care ($25). I call St. Luke's and they tell me I have to call the insurance company to have them pay it correctly. The interaction between St. Luke's and my insurance company should be handled correctly and/or corrected between them. Poor customer service. read more
