A few days ago on July 3, we walked into your church to pray. Having an anniversary on that day but…read morelosing my father last year to heart attack that he couldn't recover from, we traveled and wanted to take a moment out to pray. It wasn't too late in the day, but the doors were open. It felt inviting so we walked in. However, once I arrived in, I paged through your bulletin and found out that the first service here is late in the day (something like 1:45 on a Sunday), and knowing we couldn't stay for the mass (having things to do, as we were on vacation nonetheless and not knowing just how well this area of town is/was etc.) we headed out after praying. However, what my mother did notice is that this place didn't have any candles to lite with donations. The church seems to be maintained, though the bulletin said it wasn't taking in too much the previous week, so upkeep of candles shouldn't have been a problem. Normally, that is one thing we Catholics recognize as one thing all Catholic churches have that this one failed to have, that we didn't really like. While we didn't stay for a mass, it was a worthwhile choice on a Holy Day, and something I wouldn't have chosen to do otherwise. We ended up hanging a prayer intention on the fern tree inside from the prayer intention cards just outside the chapel doors but from inside their hallway leading up into the chapel.
