One of the most difficult situations in life is experiencing the death of a parent. The emotion,…read morepain and grief can be overwhelming to a family. Writing a review on a funeral home is a little peculiar, admittedly, but I think it is important for anyone looking for a stress-free way to experience a loss with a funeral home that truly has the family's best interest at heart. The planning for a funeral, burial, service all starts ahead of time. Those living in the NEPA area should never be afraid to stop in or make an appointment to talk about planning with the owners Tammy and John. They could take much of the stress and worry away from a funeral so that the healing process and memorial could begin. My mom, siblings and I wanted to ensure that we honored our dad's life, showcased his life achievements and his life relationships in an honorable manner. With the help of Semians funeral staff, we were able to do just that.
What to expect: After the loss of a loved one, we had to make one call for all of the arrangements for my dad. Semians gave us a booklet to keep notes for guests bringing food, gifts, and mementos so that we could thank those who helped support our family. We planned the viewing and funeral service, which included the church liturgy and gravesite blessing. We calmly picked out the coffin and burial details--while a very rough, heart wrenching thing to do, Tammy helped navigate the tough situation by using the right words, explaining differences and just helping traverse the whole situation. Semians also has a beautiful and very easy online process for all to leave condolence comments or to order flowers. What we found the most helpful was in creating the PERFECT video of my dad's life. The program that Semians uses allows for VERY EASY upload from a mobile device or computer. Once all of the photos were uploaded (or scanned), Semians created a very beautiful video of his life that was also placed on their website. Friends and family could see the video and were able to share the video on social media and via email. Further, Semians provided a beautiful book for guests to sign in, prayer cards with a prayer/saying of our choosing and thank you cards. We did not have to stress out about the details--we just had to be there for our mom and to support her (which is the way it should be). Semians cars were beautiful, clean, neat and my dad got to make his final ride in a Cadillac (this would have made him smile). The funeral home facility has easy access parking and is clean and welcoming. Tammy and John were always professional, hospitable, and catered to every need we had as a family. They were a phone call or email away from any question we had. I could go on and on about the support we received from Tammy and John at Semian's funeral home, but I just wanted the area to know that there is no doubt that this is one of the best funeral homes in NEPA. I'm not sure if other funeral homes cost more or less, but just know that you get what you pay for, and there is no beating the hospitality, honesty, dedication and support our family received from the Semians.
