      This school is authentically Catholic, not "Catholic in name only" like many colleges. The theology…read moredepartment is fantastic, with many well-known professors who teach here. I got a very good theology education here. Franciscan teaches Catholic truth without apology. The curriculum is grounded in names like Aquinas, not liberal theologians who interpret Catholic teaching as they see fit. Theologically they are on the conservative side - that's what makes them authentically Catholic. Most students are not only Catholic but are very serious about their faith. Many attend daily Mass (there are multiple daily Masses offered), adoration, you see students walking around campus praying the rosary, and quite a few discern a religious vocation. Franciscan is an escape from the craziness that the secular world has become these days. I took off one star for: - the town is very run down, small, with nothing to do. The campus is the only highlight. - the facilities at this school need to be updated, especially the HVAC system. Classrooms are often boiling hot even in January. - Masses are reverent (at least compared to an average parish) but could use more traditional music and more Latin. Guitars don't belong in the liturgy. Also, with so many priests living on campus, there is no excuse for their constant use of extraordinary ministers of communion.

      Unfortunately, this supposedly Christian (Catholic) school does not follow a Christian (Christ…read morelike) way of treating its families and students. Instead of addressing challenges like bullying or academic issues, it sweeps everything under the rug with a shrug. An attitude of get rid of the victim instead of the perpetrators and call it justice is unconscionable. With substandard teaching, this institution deserves no stars.

The children are taught respect for each other, for adults and for themselves. Not only have I never regretted my decision to educate my children in this Catholic School, my own children say it was the best start in life that they could have ever had! If you are looking for an exceptional education for your children in a caring environment then take a good hard look at St. Mary's in St. Clairsville.

Intersession = 1 month long, four credit course in January that is typically laid-back but highly interesting and focused 3. Alumni network = These people are highly favorable of current students and are a huge asset to you for jobs and internships 4.... 4 Year Graduation Guarantee = Do it all in four years or the school pays for it (unless you made a mistake when registering classes) 5. Academics = At the end of the day, W&J is a great school with smart people - not stuck up smart people - who are hard workers. Work hard play hard.
