He told me to go back and so I did, but the maintenance supervisor used his truck to block the path, he didn't explain why he is blocking the path, he feels like he is entitled to so because I am in their property. So I waited there for a good 30 minutes until he decided move his truck back, but didn't advise me to drive forward, he just ignored me and proceeded on what he was doing. I reached out to the office of this church, the person that I got in touch with said that he is going to forward it to the parish priest. It's been almost a couple of months now and I have not heard anything yet. Just be careful when you are coming to this church after mass, the maintenance people will harass you because they think they are the law.

The church is small for the number of parishioners there now. If you are not 10-15 minutes prior, you will be standing in the back. We have been there for 3 years and routinely come 20 minutes early. I love this parish, but I'll admit that I do not like the actual chapel one bit. The design of the church is the most convoluted and confused attempt at 60s era multi-use. Much like the saying 'a camel is a horse designed by committee', it seems everyone on the design group got to choose a shape, material, and architectural style. I've spent many, many hours wondering what in the world they were trying to achieve. After 150+ masses, I haven't the foggiest clue. The horrid church is more than made up by the best clergy I've had the fortune of being with in 25 years of military travel. Each priest has a tone and style that is unique and works well. The sermons are by far the best part of the mass.

New to the parish but have met very few folks. No activities to foster finding a niche in the…read moreparish. Very conservative with sermons mainly covering Catholicism 101....fine for grade school kids. No thought provoking commentary nor complex challenging topics to inspire. Music is the one bright light for the praise and worship Mass but lots of chanting and Latin sung at other times, not to mention absolutely choking incense in over abundance. Activities focus on young men's groups , such as multiple retreats and holy hours. Why does exposition start in the evening and end in the early morning? No way to give voice to your concerns or suggestions..no email addresses for priests or staff published. It pretty obvious they are most interested in recruiting for vocations and for whatever benefits their own school students. Older parishioners are on their own. Supposedly a parish plan will be addressed in the spring but there has been no request for feedback from the congregation as a whole. Am not sure if there has ever been a parish council that has actually been involved in what goes on. Certain folks have been recruited to drive this plan from my understanding. Too bad the Church of the Nativity, Good Shepherd Catholic Church or St. John Neumann are just a little too far and most of the diocese as a whole is ultra-conservative (well known fact along with Nebraska) with the exception of a very few bright lights. Any vestige of Vatican II seems long swept away, sadly.

Still huge emphasis on vocations for young men 18 to 35....lots of activities to snag those folks....resources not very equally spread among the congregation. Date night was started with pretty grim, not fun, lectures to hear, plus one brings a dish and THEN is encouraged to pay $25 per couple for the "dinner." We won't be returning. Plans to build an adoration chapel supersede updating the one grim bathroom facility in the vestibule or the side church entrance which is steep with a heavy door and dangerous step.... certainly not ADA compliant. We absolutely need that side door opened nonetheless to prevent a long walk up hill from the parking lot; however it is mostly locked despite requests to keep it open. C'mon folks.....we are Catholics yes, but we are human beings too in an aging population. The side entrance needs not just a sign that reads "step down"...how about fixing it? A crying room is sorely needed for the screaming kids who seem present during whichever service you attend. Please wake up, St. Leo's....you seem to be making an effort to be more inclusive, but the physical plant needs huge improvements and don't forget that those highly sought after young men have mothers, sisters, grandmothers, and other women in their homes who need spiritual nourishment as well. Statistics show that people are leaving the Catholic Church everywhere...please pay attention to ALL parishioners. ps...please don't ever tell me how to vote!!

The minute I stepped into this church, I felt the difference from other churches in the area I've attended a few months prior. The congregation was very welcoming and Pastor Eddie relayed God's powerful word with such conviction I rededicated my life to Jesus that day. Since then, my family and I hardly miss a service, we come here not only to worship God but also to fellowship with members and new attendees from all walks of life. I love how diverse this church is. The praise and worship team also rocks the stage and sets the mood to receiving Gods grace. One of the reasons I love coming here are the amenities the church provides the congregation. I am still nursing my 15 month old baby and have brought him here since he was 3 weeks old. I've made use of the moms room thats provided for all breastfeeding moms and babies and of course moms with cranky babies who wants a quiet place to hang out and soothe their little ones. It has comfy rockers, a changing table and a 65 inch monitor to watch the service while tending to you precious baby. The moms room is truly designed for mother and baby's comfort. As a mom who always wants to provide my son a clean, comfortable and safe place to feed, the moms room couldn't be any better. This place is a Holy Spirit filled place, you will surely feel Gods presence. It doesn't matter who you are, where you've been, what you've done... everyone is welcome. So come see for yourself.

In my mind, St. Mary's is the "casual" church. Everything seems to be a little more laid back here than at other local options. This would be the place to come if you're looking to attend Sunday Mass in an environment that doesn't put form -- or formality -- over function. The people that make decisions here seem to do it poorly. For instance, the sound system here borders on awful. Even worse are the relatively new kneelers, which sound like a flock of randy geese every time the congregation gets up or down. The youth group music at 5:00pm on Sundays can be questionable, but I suppose that's the case of any similar group. Lots of parking, but the lot is a little confusing.

Time to fix that…read more Knollwood has proven to be an excellent church, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new church, is considering seeing "what else" is out there, or is merely visiting the area and wants to worship on a Sunday morning. Dress is casual. You can certainly wear a suit if you want, but the average worshipper here ranges from khakis and a polo to jeans and a t-shirt. In my case, if the weather permits, I'm in shorts and a t-shirt. No matter how you dress, you won't be made to feel out of place, as there's likely someone who is dressed the same. The music is contemporary in nature, and there are no hymnals present. That's not to say that hymns aren't ever sung, but the service definitely is representative of a more modern service. Strong diversity of ages represented, especially since it's a contemporary service. Grandparents on down to kids are in attendance. There's also been a big influx as of recent of families with young children. Different ethnic groups are also well represented given the makeup of the area, which is also nice as so many other churches out there seem so segregated when it comes to Sunday mornings. Military families should feel pretty welcome here. There's a number of active and former service members here. The church isn't affiliated with a particular denomination, and members seem to come from a variety of different church backgrounds. If I had to put a label on it, I would say that it's an evangelical church. To try to draw more parallels doesn't really do Knollwood justice - my advice is to just give it a shot. Everyone involved in the worship service does an excellent job. What I particularly like is the Q&A session at the end of the service. We live in an interactive day and age, and having a church that is interactive is a great thing. In terms of what is taught here, you're not going to find anything wacky -- the message is always grounded in the Bible, delivered in an engaging manner, and with an eye toward helping make it relevant for your daily life. Bottom line, this is an excellent church. Hopefully I've provided enough detail for people to decide if Knollwood is right for a visit, but I'm more than happy to provide more views if there are specifics that I haven't covered.

I liked that the history and the photos of the church are displayed for people to see in black and white photographs. I read on its brochure that the church's origin dates back to the 1700s and was attended by our first US president George Washington. The Declaration of Independence was read aloud from the steps of the church as well. The church was easy to find, and parking was free & spacious. It was easy to check in and we were offered two decorative autumn sugar cookies. The night concert was pleasant. I loved how the violin players entertained the audience with their music. We enjoyed our time there and would love to come back to this church.

The Falls Church Episcopal is located on the site of an extraordinarily historic church site. The…read moreoriginal church was founded by George Washington's father and George himself served on the vestry in his time. There are two church buildings on the site and the 'Historic Church' is a classic Colonial style building. There are services there every Sunday at 11:00. The larger, newer building dates from the late 1980's and there is a family service there every Sunday at 9:00. But more important than the buildings, the Falls Church Episcopal is an incredibly warm, welcoming, inclusive congregation. The current congregation was evicted from the grounds when the former congregation voted to leave the Episcopal Church. After years 'in the wilderness' the 20 or so 'faithful' had grown to 150 and returned to the historic buildings following the court battles. The congregation now numbers around 400 between the two services and the number of young families and children is really heart-warming. Those years 'in exile' left its mark in making the congregation determined to give a warm welcome to strangers. And the "coffee hour" between the services is another sign of this attitude. Not merely "coffee and donuts" but a virtual light Sunday Brunch. The atmosphere is much needed in these stressful, chaotic times!!
