I was surrounded by people calling themselves Christians - while at the exact same time, I saw them tear down the very ones made in His image. An example of this being my entire class and upperclassmen (with the exception of few), making fun of one girl who struggled with a disability. They made an Instagram "fan page" of her - her profile picture being black snakes coming out of her eyes. I was once told by a staff member that, on another occasion, an entire grade dressed up as one student in order to make fun of her. But, because the staff "could not prove the bullying," they did nothing to stop it. However, I would be lying if I did not say there are some genuinely kind teachers at the school that truly love their students. But, that will most likely not be the takeaway in your child's experience at LCA. In the classroom, things from the Bible are skewed in their teaching. For example, it's taught that if you're anxious, you're not a true Christian. It's taught that if you pray for doctors and nurses, rather than solely God's miracles, you're not truly believing in the power of God. Teachings like these saturate the classroom. There is extremely little diversity, though their deceptive marketing will put a minority poster child on the front page of their website. What I experienced at LCA was truly traumatic to me. If you are considering sending your child there, and they are at all doubting their faith in whatever way, please prayerfully re-consider. I write this review out of deep disturbance and concern for your child's faith.

I have two children; both have attended Community Montessori for a few years now…read more Since it is a smaller school (at least as compared to public school) and because students generally have the same classmates year after year, the children get to know each other and get along very well together. There appears to be a true sense of community in the classroom, and both my kids are happy and comfortable here. Both of them really do enjoy going to this school, and I believe that is due primarily to this community atmosphere. Academically they are also doing well. Montessori education was not a system I was familiar with before my children enrolled, but it seems to be working well; I am very pleased with their progress and even more so with their interest in learning. Really, though, I believe the learning environment is far more important than the teaching method. In my opinion, kids can learn through Montessori, traditional or any other education system so long as they are in a supportive and comfortable environment. Community Montessori provides this well.

As a member of the Knights of Columbus council at Mary Queen, I'm blessed that our council does…read moremuch for our church, school, and the city of Lexington, Kentucky, not to mention they pray for us, overlook our faults, and forget our mistakes As church members, we never truly know what a hello, friendly word to a fellow parishioner or a visitor will be--an encouragement, a blessing. Plus, it is the priest's job to help people become great Christians, and we have that at Mary Queen. We are so blessed that they touch people's hearts during each mass. The week's highlight is disconnecting from the world and spending time in front of the Blessed Sacrament. That's right, leave everything at the door. Pope John Paul II once said, "Our communal worship at mass must go together with our personal worship of Jesus in Eucharistic adoration in order that our love may be complete." And he was so right.

I've never felt more unwelcome in a Catholic church in 50 years. I was seated alone, far more than six feet from anyone other than the people behind me. During the announcements, the priest promoted the parishes fall festival. He says that many people have joined the church because of the welcome reception they've received at the festival. It must be a lot more welcoming than that of Mass.

Math teacher Mrs. Britney Richardson traumatized me so hard I remember her 5 years after, we got into a very serious verbal argument one morning where she yelled at me in front of all my peers, dismissing every explanation I had and putting me down at any chance. My breaking point (where I chose to sit in silence for the rest of the school year) was when she said with full confidence that I was "playing with needles, showing them off to other kids.", completely smearing and humiliating me. It was 7th grade, I had just been diagnosed a Type 1 diabetic and was showing a few of my closest friends how to properly use life saving emergency medication, as instructed by my doctor (glad I did because she clearly knew nothing of my diagnosis, if I passed out in her class I probably would've died there.). I was horrifically stunned and upset, and when she saw my gapping mouth she got a real cocky, mean smirk on her face, like she had outwitted a 13 year old. She should've been fired or reprimanded but no. It is still extremely upsetting, even as an adult with a diploma. Worst teacher I've ever had in 6 different schools. Wouldn't send my kid there if it was the last option.
