It is worth popping in just look at these windows and study all the symbolism they hold. Mass was full. The music was good and the lady singing was exuberant. The violin was a nice touch and the summer was good. People are nice. I'm definitely coming back here sooner than later next time I'm in the Galveston area there's just too much to look at for one visit.

The interior contains lovely stained glass windows and holy statues throughout along with arched roofs all in white. There are several thick pillars which can obstruct your view of the altar but then that's how a lot of old churches are. Before you come to Mass be sure to check mass times because this church is one of 5 that form the Parish for Galveston island and Bolivar peninsula. I believe they only have 2 masses here on Sundays. The city of Galveston is fortunate to have 3 of these old churches within a 1 mile radius to attend. Take advantage of that and visit all of them.

The church seems pretty cool and laid back. The preacher is not really a preacher. He's more of a teacher because even though he says the sermon will be on 2 king chapter 6, he didn't actually read the Bible, he just paraphrase in his own words with ( I guess ) what the chapter says..which is not really something a preacher should do that's why he's more of a teacher than a preacher IMO. And since he was paraphrasing in his own opinion about the chapter of the Bible, it was all a bunch of word salad about faith. Sounded wise but didn't really understand what he was saying. Of course the tithing giving financially was a big big deal. I don't tithe and dont get financially. It is not for new testament church. Well, overall, yeah, it's a pretty cool church. I'm glad God was with me while I'm skating, enjoying the boardwalk and ocean then pow, lead me to this church.. I'm glad I went. It's fun to experience different things and cultures as God leads.

Currently the only weekend mass schedule that I am aware of is at noon on Sunday. The church has a small alcove when you enter. There are beautiful wooden columns supporting the roof along with wooden crossmembers up there too. With stained glass windows throughout the church, the more ornate ones are up near the altar. The confessional is near the entrance and is of a unique stand alone design. They don't make churches like this anymore. If you are visiting the island, I recommend coming here to visit or attend Mass.

A couple friends of mine suggested that I try attending the morning service here, and I decided to give it a shot. I felt a ton of love from the moment that I first stepped into the building. I was greeted with smiles and handshakes from several church members. It felt like a true community where you could find not only believers but friends as well. The sanctuary is big enough that you don't feel cramped but small enough to also feel warm and inviting. Pastor Tre never fails to deliver an impactful and timely sermon. He won't always tell you what you want to hear, but he will tell you what you need to hear. And it'll definitely be from the heart and filled with the Holy Spirit. The praise and worship team is awesome and ministers in a very organic and compelling way. Another plus is that many young adults attend service here. As a millennial, that's always a good sign for me because it means that young people feel safe and respected inside those walls. That's not something that a lot of churches can brag about. Although I go back home to Houston to attend church with my mother on most Sundays, I'm glad to know that I have a place to fellowship with Christians whenever I spend a Sunday in Galveston!

We looked a couple of different Churches and denominations down there and were lucky enough to find this one. The Church is absoutley beautiful with lots of history. It has three seperate authenic Tiffany Stained Glass windows. Amazingly enough the three were designed and made by Louis C Tiffany at the beginning, the middle and the end of his career. They are beutiful and a joy to look at especially when the sun shines into the sanctuary the colors are glorifying. I think what really made us call FBC home is the minister Dr David Green. This is a man that was truley sent by God in my opinion. His ability to connect and his demeanor is an inspiration. If your are looking to Worship in GATX go here...you will enjoy it. BTW...Dr Green always has the service last one hour...hes to the point without being rushed. They add just the right amount of singing without it getting overwhelming.
