A Great Family Church!…read more I recently started attending Cornerstone Church after their move a few years ago from Kentwood. Even though the name says United Methodist they still follow very non-denominational views. It was then at that time I recently conversion from the Catholic Church to Non-Denominational. As a local of Caledonia, I've attended Holy Family Parish in Caledonia all the way through high school and decided to denounce and turning from my catholic faith and started attending Cornerstone. I've always had this theory in regards to Non-Denominational and Catholic Churches. In that Catholic churches tailor to the older generations +40 yrs. and the non-denominational churches are where you find most of the younger generations. I mean how often do you hear them singing Casting Crowns and Chris Tomlin in a Catholic church. At any rate they offer some awesome youth ministry programs only the little ones but also Middle-school and High-school ministries. **Overall it a great family church, I honestly wish I could attend the services more often but my military obligations keep me from attending except for the few times a year thatI'm home on leave. I appreciate the many resources they offer and all of the work that's being done locally as well as oversees. Pastor Duane is an outstanding pastor who preaches God's word in such a clear manner that you can really grow as a Christian. Both my children also participate in children's ministry services and they have really enjoyed their time. We truly have felt welcomed each visit. You can also join the church via online services and classes! It's such a great opportunity to learn and stay connected to a church even from a distance. If it's your first time visiting it can feel a little overwhelming but their are so many great people who can help you and even get you to the front door by way of golf cart pick up! And of course there is a connections area where you can come and get connected with leaders of the church.

I absolutely adore Fountain Street Church. The interim pastor, Nathan Dannison, has restored this…read morehistoric church back to its former glory. Nathan has since been voted in as permanent pastor, and while I don't necessarily agree with all of his theology (particularly his claim that Jesus was 'obviously' gay), I do love his events and open mindedness to debate. The space just feels holy and has hosted many wonderful musical renditions for Christmas and Good Friday. Last year, FSC hosted comedian, Taylor Tomlinson's Netflix: Prodgical Daughter Tour. Check it out if you're curious. She is hilarious. They also have a robust children's program and accept everyone as they are. The sermons are interesting. Many focus on women and he draws from many other sources like Greek and Roman mythology. He's really knowledgeable. One thing that I think lives out The Gospel is how they open up the church to the homeless in a low key no pressure way. They are offered warm drinks and can mill about the refreshment area while the sermon plays on the wall for them to come and go as they please. I find that to be quite loving and meeting them exactly where they're at. It meets needs and gives them an opportunity to listen to a loving message if they want (or not). I do wish he spent more time on Jesus as He is the reason for my faith, personally. However, I realize that this community is for everyone: christians, atheists, agnostics, etc. It's an open place meant for community and healing. I can respect that. Check out Fountain Street Church for an event or Sunday Service. There really is something for everyone. Many political protests are also organized through Fountain Street, plus they always have compelling Artprize Entries. Recently, I had a friend complete a non judgmental listening class where she can just listen to people and be a witness to help people process their trauma. I think Fountain Street is a colorful, varied, come as you are kind of place, and I'm thankful it exists.

I had purchased assigned seating, and we were located in the front right hand section of the audience. Our seats were good, although it should be noted that the balcony does cover part of the seated section here, and depending on the event could be an obstruction at times. Fortunately, it did not interfere with our event. Fountain Street church is a magnificent building. I appreciate it. Beautiful architecture and rich history. Parking can be a bit challenging, but there are plenty of parking garages within walking distance, if you are unable to find street parking.
