Excellent Education. Two of our children graduated from NYHS and I could not be happier with the…read morepreparation they received. There are about 65 kids in 4 grades which seems small but it works out to be an advantage to our kids in the ways that actually matter. My kids did AP and UofW classes, lots of sports, tons of extra curriculars, and grew so much over the four years. One of my kids was super interested in the Jewish part of the dual curriculum and one was less so - but both ended up loving it. Both ended up with their own authentic relationship to their Judaism which seems like one of our top goals. If I was to add one last thought to this, it's that NYHS did a great job at the subtle things that are truly important to the kids' future success and happiness. When we were looking at High Schools 5 years ago, we may not have been focused on the facets that ended up being the most important. Now we know so much more and are so thankful that we ended up at NYHS.

I appreciate how the school meets each student at their level, striving to support those who need extra help while also challenging those who are ready for more advanced work. The teachers and staff genuinely care about their students and are committed to their overall success. NYHS offers a fun experience for kids, with a variety of electives, a strong sports program, and engaging activities like trips, camping, Shabbatons, and team-building events. I highly recommend this school to anyone with a Jewish background seeking a quality Jewish education!

The decision-making process appeared to favor certain groups within the parish, leaving some students and families feeling excluded and undervalued. My concern is not with celebrating any culture or heritage, which can be a wonderful part of a school community. Rather, it is whether all students were treated equally and given the same respect regardless of their ethnic background. When school leaders and board members make decisions that appear to benefit one group more than others, it can create a perception of bias and division. Future students and families should pay attention to how decisions are made, whether all voices are heard, and whether the school's actions reflect its stated values of inclusion, fairness, and respect for every child.

They will always back the teacher even if there's no valid reasoning behind it. Also lied to us in terms of how communicative they'd be about issues that arise, and the principal basically admitted that the staff had given me inconsistent info because they should've "communicated with each other ahead of time and worked on their communication" before talking to the parent. Basically, getting their lies together straight so that they can back each other up instead of being honest with what's really going on!
