Such a lovely town. I'm from the other side of the river and people tend to bash this town. For those that do. Yep. You're right. Best stay away. In fact, may as well quit reading this right now.
So are they gone? Good.
Yeah, this is a goofy town. Goofy streets and people who seem to have lived here all their lives and the generations before them too.
But you know what's awesome? It has neighborhoods. It has dives. It has nice places. It's got everything that Minneapolis does but at better prices. You want to live in S. Mpls? Why not check out Highland or the Mac Groveland area? No planes. Maybe you'll have a HS marching band come down your street and your taxes may even be lower.
You want NE? Get to the northside of University. You've got the light rail (and no pedal pubs) breweries, awesome record stores and places to go see live music. You don't want that but you want that old neighborhood feel? Get to the W. 7th area.
You like North Minneapolis? Check out the east side and Frog town area. Only difference is that much of the old neighborhood character is still there, ie: mom & pop restaurants, bars, and more.
West St. Paul has a hispanic culture that has been seen for decades and the area is rich in culture.
Sure DT St. Paul still feels like it rolls up the streets at night but there are pockets of areas that are emerging that are pretty cool.
I'm back in Minneapolis but for someone that was a transplant for 25 years, I'd go back. read more
