Had a chance to try this coffee shop after staying a night in Thunder Bay while on a cross-country road trip a couple of weeks ago. Got there right before they opened so saw them flip the "Open" sign. Ordering was quick and our drinks were made with care. Latte art always pleases the eye too so was happy to receive it. Very much enjoyed my oat latte as it was the right balance. Interior is clean, open, and rustic, with a decent amount of seating both inside and outside. Neat to see their roasting machine near the back side of the store. Probably should have bought some beans, but we were on a schedule to travel through the rest of Ontario. Off a side street, so there's free street parking. read more

I asked if they could make an iced mocha (not on the menu)c and one of the baristas was very quick to reply yes. He coached the other barista on how to make it so she knew for next time. Super quick service too! read more

Excellent coffee and espresso. You really can't go wrong with ordering anything off their chalkboard menu. Or grab a bag of fresh roasted beans and caffeinate at home. I have a bag of their beans at home right now - one of their dark roasts - and it really does have those chocolatey, orangey notes in it that they claim on the bag. Most recently, I opted for a coffee to stay instead of my usual Americano to go. I was delighted to learn they do this pour-over style and give you your own little coffee decanter with lid! You can sip your brew as leisurely as you'd like without worrying about it getting to cold. As someone who savours before devouring, I really appreciate this. read more

Great coffee in downtown of Thunder Bay. Very nice cafe as well with seating. Highly recommend.

Back to the roots, classic roasters with mad barista skills. They thankfully have a very traditional menu with modest homemade baked goods. I enjoyed an Americano with a date square. It is also attached to a record shop, which was a cool browse while waiting. read more

If you haven't been there lately, you owe it to yourself. They've always had a great location, nice enough design, and are fastidious about their coffee but now their espresso roast is excellent. I live in the the Pacific Northwest and am spoiled for choice of third wave coffee; St. Paul's stands shoulder to shoulder with my other favourite bar espressos. Very smooth. In time, I'd love to see them expand their line up and maybe include some single origins - if the market supports it. Anyway, great job gentlemen. read more
