brought my dog in because he was seriously ill, and Dr. Amber Aher evaluated him, performed blood work, and prescribed several medications. Unfortunately, after spending over $432, I still left without a clear diagnosis or understanding of what was actually wrong with my dog. Less than 24 hours later, my dog's condition worsened, so I contacted the clinic again and was advised to take him to the emergency veterinarian immediately. After arriving at the ER, the veterinary team diagnosed him with pneumonia and informed me that he required hospitalization for multiple days in order to survive. I was also told that some of the medications previously prescribed could potentially be harmful given his condition. As a pet owner, this experience has been extremely upsetting and concerning. I trusted that my dog would receive proper care and guidance, and I feel deeply disappointed by the lack of accurate diagnosis and treatment. After reading other reviews from clients with similar experiences, I feel it is important to share my own experience publicly. OMG these people are fantastic!! While petsitting one of my favorite clients we had a health scare. Continual vomiting So I called and went over the symptoms and they advised to bring her in. They said they had appts every 15 mins but they'd fit me in. I got there at 3:30 and was in a room in 5 mins. They took blood, did a physical, checked her history. Offered to do X-rays but never pushed to run up the bill either. She ended up with some sub q fluids and a shot for the naseau, as well as some pills to go home. New VET St Pete Beach Dr Amber Aher is amazing. We have been using this practice for 8 years. Dr Aher did such a thorough exam on our Stevie to include X-rays of her mouth showing extensive loss of bone, abcess of one tooth, broken teeth, X-rays have never been done just cleaning was just preformed. This bone loss just doesn't happen over night. X-rays previously could have prevented a huge bill as Stevie needed to go to a Pet Dentist. When Dr. Nicole Tisdale was there, I would have given this place 5 stars solely based on her personality and bed side manner. I like Candy too, btw. Now Dr. Tisdale is gone and Dr. Nicole Canavan has taken her place. I discussed my problem with this place with the first Doc Nicole... if I have an appointment time, the staff needs to respect that. For example, if I bring a pet in to be put down, I'm already a wreck and I want the job done at the appointed time. You can't make it? Send your staff in to tell me when you CAN make it. Ever been escorted back with to a room and had to sit on the floor with your dog because s/he wants out NOW and the doc is running late for whatever reason? I have zero problem rescheduling, just tell me. I've had quite a menagerie over the years and I've been to my fair share of vets. This is the ONLY place I've ever been where my time was NEVER respected. They aren't even in a hurry to take my credit card to pay. I'll stand there at the counter, waiting to check out and do a slow burn waiting on somebody to say, 'I can take you over here.' I get that emergencies happen. That said, I suspect that Drs. Rose and Canavan want me and others to believe that each and every time I and others come in, there's an emergency holding them up. I don't really buy into that theory. Maybe they schedule patients too close together, I don't know. Regardless, the customer service is lacking... the respect for MY time and my pet's TIME is severely missing from this place. I don't know what the problem is with this facility but what I DO know is that I have a lot of pets and whoever gets me as a client, is going to make a lot of money. What I DO know is that I work three jobs to make sure that my fur babies get the best that I can afford. What I DO know is that I've had it with the waiting game accompanied by not just poor customer service but NO customer service. read more

I first brought my cat here during shutdown when I was new to the area and staying beach side. She had an emergency situation and they took such great care that I continued to drive 20 minutes to bring my cat and my two dogs here after I moved. I am so disappointed with the staff and customer service as of late. It's very difficult to just give your pet to a stranger and watch them take your pet into a building you've never seen. I don't even know what the Dr's look like or how they are with my pets. I understand that measures were taken during the pandemic so that they could remain open and care for animals but at this point, I feel like they're taking advantage. I have been here 3 times in 3 weeks for different reasons. Every single time either Dr Rose or Dr Canavan have called and tried to push unnecessary testing and procedures on my animals and then trimming my pets nails and charging me for it without EVER mentioning it while on the phone. Nobody likes to feel like they're pet is being used for profit and that's exactly what it feels like here. I do think they take good care of animals but I also feel like they're trying to take you for what you got as well. read more

Took my cat there because I couldn't get an appointment with our regular vet. My cat is overweight and was limping. An X-ray was done and nothing broken. Was told he needed to loose weight and was given 3 pain pills. No suggestions or recommendations for a weight loss plan or change of food. What a disappointment in their lack of initiative and more importantly, lack of caring and kindness. For all they knew I was new in town and searching for a vet for my animals. Dr Canavan and the staff are the real deal. They care for your fur baby the way you do at home. Sadie our fur baby was saved by Dr Canavan. It took her just a few moments to confirm Sadie was very ill and she got us to a specialist. She has followed Sadie ever since we got her stable. Been taking my dogs there for years. Much better price wise and service than the other clinics in the area. They recently added Dr. Nicole. This place was a great clinic before, but with her added, it is so much better. Plus, they now have a ultrasound which helped with a recent diagnosis on our oldest dog. When I first got my cat I took her here, and they seemed very nice. My cat stopped eating, and when I took her to get checked out the vet made me feel terrible about not being able to afford a $1000 overnight stay at an emergency clinic or another very expensive option. He made it sound as though I didn't want to spend the money when it was very obvious I'm a student who can't afford that high of a bill. If I had the money I would have spent it in an instant. They wouldn't even allow me to do a payment plan when I asked. Any vet that views your pet as a bank is a vet that doesn't care about you, and even less about your pet. read more

This vet was truly disappointing. The doctor pressed tumors on my dog, she yelped and he sent us home with nothing but a number to call for an ultrasound. This was a little over a year ago and I went to another vet, was treated much better but did lose my dog to cancer shortly after. They never did preventive tests or exams and she was a senior. I recently had an issue with my 12 year old golden retriever where we had to take her to an emergency vet at 9:00 pm on a Sunday. She was given heavy medication to stop her from having seizures and they kept her overnight. We then had to pick her up at 7:30 am and take her to st pete beach veterinary clinic. We really did not think that she was going to make it and Dr. Rose kept her for observation for the day. We took her home at the end of the day and in the morning rushed back to see dr. Rose in because again, we thought we were losing her. The whole office was so accommodating and helpful and Dr Rose reassured and supported us in whatever our final decisions were going to be. We brought her home again to keep her comfortable and on more than one occasion Dr Rose called to check on her condition. In addition, anytime we called in with questions, he got on the phone with us and talked to us in depth. Miraculously our golden has recovered! My family would like to thank all of the staff at st pete beach vet and Dr Rose for your caring and compassionate care. They diagnosed my friends cat with liver failure but they weren't sure why it was failing: either liver failure caused lack of appetite or not eating caused liver failure. They tried forcing her to pay $1000 to observe the cat overnight to see if she would eat and the owner told them that $1000 was out of budget. They accused her of being stingy which for her fur baby is such a disgusting accusation and refused to create a payment plan for the overnight observation just to see if she would eat. This is a vet that only cares about the money, not about the animal they made a commitment to protect. read more

34 days after having my darling, HEALTHY, 7 yr old, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier's teeth cleaned and 4 teeth extracted at the ST. PETE BEACH VETERINARY CLINIC.........he suddenly had a seizure, his temperature went to 110....and he DIED. After conferring with the Univ. of Florida Vet School about Anesthesia and them ruling that out.....my only conclusion is that maybe he contracted a Bacterial infection from the cleaning and it took 34 days to go to his brain. I was given antibiotics AFTER the cleaning for 10 days, but NONE before...and was NOT scheduled for a CHECK UP appt. after the cleaning. His blood work was perfect (Dr. Tisdale assured me)... I will never know what killed my precious, young Maxwell.......I will NEVER go back to this clinic. Johnna P. read more

When I moved from the neighborhood, I tried another vet who wanted to operate immediately on my then 4-year-old Shih Tzu mix for her luxating patella. Dr. Rose had said she would let me know when she needed the surgery. She's now 12 years old and running with the best of them with NO SURGERY. I decided it was worth the 12 mile drive each way to keep her and my other pets healthy. Everyone at the office knows them by name and are wonderful to deal with. read more

My fiance and I rescued an eight week old American Staffordshire puppy about 5 months ago and took her to another veterinary office for her first check up and vaccinations with us, but unfortunately didn't really like it. We just didn't feel welcomed and they were not up to current technology. The office seemed like it hasn't been updated since the 70's and they were using a typewriter to enter records (who does that still? ). After several recommendations and online research we decided to switch to Saint Pete Beach Veterinary office and so glad we did. It is the best clinic we have ever been to. The moment we walked in the door we realized this is the place for us and our puppy. Now several months later we would definitely still recommend Dr. Nicole Tisdale (we've only seen Dr. Tisdale) and St pete beach veterinary clinic to anyone. read more

Absolutely fantastic service and extremely competent doctors & staff. They are upfront with you on costs and diagnoses, and are competitive with the market rates. As with any vet, taking on the personal responsibility to discuss care and costs will probably save you from high expenses, but the staff have always gone out of their way to take the time and review all aspects of service with me well in advance. I would not recommend ANY other vet in the South Pinellas region...you may find one as good, but you won't find one better. Dr. Rose and Dr. Tisdale are as professional, intelligent and educated as anyone could hope for. read more
