As another person that reviewed said, each time I attend service I leave feeling as though that message was for me that week and I needed to hear it. Pastor John and Pastor Ilenna are both great people, Most of you emphasize on the tithing, but also going to catholic church they emphasize the same as well. What I can say is yes it is spoke about before we start service and it is not forced nor is it over emphasized, It is the same as it would be in a catholic church and also what I can say is unlike the catholic church, I do not get a slew of envelopes mailed to my home or tickets that I'm told I should sell sent to my home as well. I feel 100% comfortable and welcomed each and every time I walk into the church, everyone is warm and friendly. I love the music and the happiness it brings me and everyone else attending, it brightens my Sunday mornings up and makes me happy to attend. I honestly can say I enjoy being there and learning more and more.

It is a church that cares not only about you but your needs. The church members are always there sharing their love with all. I walked through the door 12 years ago and have not left, I found the comfort, acceptance and love. After being away from church for over 35 years I found my home. I like that everyone knows one another and everyone is there for one another. Our Pastor is the best and is always available to help in anyway he can. Just moved to the area and was looking for the town church. Found it! What a beautiful site,…read moreoutside and then inside! It got packed quickly so good thing we arrived early. I fell in love with the church immediately because it reminded me of my childhood. It's a traditional church with traditional hymns. The people were somewhat reserved but I expect that initially. The church, though big, made me feel at home right away. They had a beautiful choir singing away. They had children everywhere. Towards the end of mass, the priest announced that even though mass attendance was dwindling in most churches across the country, Our Lady of Peace was actually increasing it's number of attendees! How awesome is that?! I definitely think we are in the right place and that we will love it here. You can't find old traditions in many places.

My children went to OLHC school and received their sacrements there. In later years we had my parents funerals in the new church. Our family moved to NJ but when my husband passed I took him back to Tottenville.....OLHC was our roots. I was so sad to see the school close its doors.Our youth need a Christian education. Sr. James, Sr. Catherine, Sr. Margaret Mary, Sr. Athanasius.....I am sure they all have a tear in their eyes :0(

a small beautiful church in the tottenville section of staten island. i was in the area visiting…read moredear friends on easter sunday and needed to take a walk after eating too much pasta and cannolis. it's a lovely roman catholic house of worship that serves its people wonderfully , especially the spanish speaking catholics . a small parking lot and the main rectory is left of the main church, before i walked in i was really moved by and outdoor statue of jesus christ with a plaque blessing the victims of 9 11. the church inside is simple with stain glass windows and more statues of religious figures . some wooden rows of seating . even though service for the day was finished i still had a good feeling being inside the house of god.
