I have been going to this church for about 12 years now....and let me say that I truly did not know Christ..let alone the purpose of my life until Christ lead me here under the teaching and the preaching of this awesome Man of God "OVERSEER LANIER C. TWYMAN" here at the ST. STEPHEN BAPTIST CHURCH. We are a Loving Church, a Family Church, a Bible Teaching Church, a Church that believes in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, a Church that's based and founded on sound doctrine of the true and only living word of GOD. No were not a perfect church, but we serve a PERFECT GOD!!!!!! God knew exactly what he was doing becasuse now that I'm 28 years old, I am now confindent in my own personal relationship with Christ through the teaching and preaching and studying and praying and fasting that I have gotten through Christ here at the St. Stephen Baptist Church....Christ changed my life at the age of 18 and life for me has NEVER been the same (in a Good way). My life changed when I joined St. Stephens Baptist Church. Pastor, Bishop, Overseer Lanier C. Twyman has been such a blessing to me and my family's life. My family use to have bible study at home but after joining SSBC is when we experience growth. Me and my husband couldn't teach our children everything about the bible and God but after joining SSBC we had a host of ministers and church leaders to help our children and our family to learn more about God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. My kids has come back and shared with me what they learned from our youth ministers and they not only learn but they walk in what they learned. Yes they sometimes make mistakes but that is why Jesus paid the price for our sins because we were born in sin and He made provisions for us when He gave his life on the cross for us for our sins. I had a good friend from work that loved me enough to invite me to SSBC, that's how it all began. Hi, I am deLores McMillian. My name is spelled with a capital "L" because it stands for LOVE. That's what God is, and that's what I want to be about, All the days of my life. Love is also what I found at St. Stephens Baptist Church, where I've been a member for almost Four Years now. I became acquainted with SSBC during an Outreach Ministry service at the CCNV Shelter. I arrived in DC on a Thursday, and circumstances led me to the Shelter at 2nd and D Street. I asked when and where Church Services were held; I was told a Church comes to the shelter Every Friday night. The next evening I was in that service, listening to a Lady Preach and tell her story. I knew within my heart, God was STILL IN CONTROL of my disobedient life. A couple of months later I joined the church. I could go on and on about how great our church is, and the members; so forth and so on; instead I'd like to mention that I was only a member for a very short time, when my Pastor, Bishop Lanier C. Twyman,, was preaching at another church and there was only about a dozen SSBC members present. Before he began his sermon, he thanked each of his members for being there; calling EACH one by name. I was one of the newest members there that night, so when he called my name, my heart was overjoyed. It was like God saying "I know you, you are one of mine." I usually sit behind our First Lady, Sis. Tonya Twyman, (making a joyful noise) and she convinced me that I needed to be in the choir. My other Family within my SSBC Family, is The CHORALEERS; they are my Sisters and Brothers. I Love the Lord ; He heard my cry....
