The only problem I have with this thrift store is that you really have to look at the items before buying them. The people who shelf and price these items don't really seem pick and chose what is put on shelf and what isn't. For example, I found a CD case without a disk in it and there was a board game missing it's cards. Now, if I wasn't paying attention, I might have purchased those items and been out of luck.

David printed off quotes and even showed me the online prices at other retailers, which I could have looked up myself, but he saved me the time. They will meet or beat those prices. After I took all the information home to show my husband, David was quick to respond to questions via email or text. Fortunately, my husband was as dissatisfied with our appliances as I was and we went ahead with the purchase. The delivery guys were very nice and efficient. They didn't leave a mess for me to clean up. I would shop there again as I like sales people who are working for a sale, are full of information, but are not too pushy. After payment or upon pick-up. We picked up on a Tuesday, but didn't set the chair up until Saturday. My wife slept in it one night. Feet dangled off the end of recliner. Description says for people over 6 feet. My wife is maybe 5'4' Next day she said she couldn't adjust to the foot dangling & wanted to return. Called the store. We were told they had a 24 hour return policy. We were never told this verbally and since we never received a receipt, were never given written notice. Had we known there was a 24 hour return policy, we would have picked it up a different day. Have never heard of 24 hours to adjust to furniture. Contacted the sales person. She talked to her manager. He agreed to accept our return as long as we could do it that day and our money would not be refunded. We would only receive store credit. We kept the chair and are selling it privately. It has never been used since. DO NOT EVER, EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM FURNITURE & APPLIANCEMART.

There was a plethora of options including, but not limited to, vodka, onesies, plushies, magnets, and beer. If I'm being honest, I hadn't heard of the mythical creature until we came to Rhinelander and now I have a magnet on my fridge as a reminder of our time in this town. The person who helped us was an absolute delight and welcomed us to the area.

This has become Rhinelander's Hodag stuff store! Anything you can think of is here, with a Hodag on…read moreit! Through the front window of this repurposed service station, you can see an array of Hodag themed merchandise. Most of it is new, however, there are old, brown. Rhinelander Shorty bottles for sale, the same ones my mother and father used to drink Rhinelander beer from. Yellow diamond signs, reflective and manufactured to DOT standards warn of Hodag crossings. Other signs indicate Hodag parking only, others will be crushed. You'll find front license plates, license plate frames, mouse pads, thimbles, bells, bottle openers, salt and pepper shakers, refrigerator magnets, decals, geocaching emblems and, of course, sweatshirts and t-shirts in a wide range of sizes. The Hodag store shares the space with a resale shop filled with artifacts of several varieties. In addition, there are works of art for sale, of course, also themed around the Hodag. Because of the nature of art, the inventory is subject to change. During my visit, there was a cross-cut saw painted with a scene featuring the Hodag. What's a Hodag? It's a mythical beast that sprang from the fertile mind of another Rhinelander legend, Gene Shepard, a practical joker of renown. The fearsome creature was "captured" by Shepard in 1896. It was made by Shepard and an expert carver; Shepard exhibited the creature in carnival side-shows. It has since become the official symbol of Rhinelander, his image appearing on water towers, squad cars, and signage, he's even the mascot of the high school. A park is named for the Hodag and now there's even a huge music festival that uses his name. And now, thanks to the Hodag Store, you can own a piece of Rhinelander's ambassador and official mascot.

While some of these can be tacky-looking, some stores offer a unique selection of things you can be proud of bringing home with you. And it seems every year we do. The interior of the store is pretty crowded. It's not the kind of store you want kids to be wandering around since there are some breakable items. One of the favorite things they have, which my wife likes, are these long sleep T-shirts that have moose and bear themes with silly headings like "Bear Hug" or "Moose Be Bedtime". I always get a shirt there for my wife. As for the guys, they have an assortment of boxer shorts for bedtime. The best my wife could do was a picture of a skunk on back of the shorts that reads "It wasn't me." There are some stuffed animals and décor items too. I've come to like seeing this place each time we do Eagle River. The owner is an older gentleman who always has a smile on his face and tells jokes to you as you're coming up to pay at the front counter. He's a real nice guy and another reason I like going in this place each year, which is why I always tell him, "See you same time next year".
