Fr. Joel Aquino is a great priest. Kind, considerate, and loving. Thank you, Father! The mission is awesome. Provides all services and most notably, the architecture is state of the art. Recently had a flat on the old Spanish trail, do to shutdown and reroute of the i15 N, and had to walk to the closest location. I have fond memories of this place. read more

Who would have thought that there would be a mission out in the middle of the desert just on the other side of the border near Tecopa, Ca. I had no idea. I was having lunch in Pahrump and picked up the locals magazine and this mission was featured on the cover. After lunch I decided to go on an adventure and find it. As I headed down Highway 160, I arrived to the turn off for Tecopa and headed right. It is only a short drive of eight miles down this road and the mission magically appears. There was no one on site and the church itself was closed but we were able to walk the grounds and learn about this mission from the posted information. The mission features the only catholic cemetery serving the Las Vegas valley. There are plans to build a visitor center and the first building we saw might be this center but it was closed so hard to tell. There were also these unique prayer stations each featuring a different subject such as Thanksgiving, Protection & Guidance, and Departed Souls. The overall vibe that the mission gave off was very calming and peaceful. The mission was named for patron saint St. Therese who was a french nun and a Doctor of the Church. She is known for her philosophy of "Little Flowers". She is one of the most popular saints to Catholics today since she lived in the 19th century. This was all information that I learned from the reading the magazine article. The owners of the mission are the Dizon family who are a locals. Location: Near Pahrump...watch closely for left turnoff " Tecopa" if you are on 160. It is not well marked and no easy turn around if you miss it. Roughly 10 miles on a good gravel road. Just across the California border. This is in the middle of 'no where'. Literally. I'm serious. But, what a pleasant Surprise! "Serene and Magical": Is how another reviewer labeled it. I was going to use the words "Mind Blowing"...but this is a church and we should all be respectful whether we are Catholic or not. Serene and magical is a better choice of words. It's the contrast between desolate isolated desert and the modern, welcoming church environment, with its beautiful architecture, and warm congregation. Everyone is welcome and there is food provided after Sunday Mass. I don't know the whole story, but someone donated money for this small gem. Some information is available online but to me it is the experience of actually going to Mass and seeing the congregation come to life. Local LV churches are modern and active in their own way with so many members that you can't really get to know everyone. There is something to be said about experiencing faith on a small personal scale. Being a part of the desert community means Marriages and funerals too. This is officially the only Catholic Cemetery in the LV area. Columbarium: Our friend invited us to drive way out to St. Therese Mission because she had her late husband's ashes permanently placed in the 24 hr a day air-conditioned columbarium. There are still some spaces available in the indoor and outdoors areas. read more

Have visited this Mission many times and contributed to their cause. Visited again today and was VERY VERY disappointed to see a gigantic aluminum structure being erected on the front of the property. They have destroyed an otherwise beautiful view ! The structure should have been put in the back of the property along the fence line. Very sad and can't figure out that horrible decision. I will reluctantly return because my faith is stronger than an ugly building. read more
