They are really family friendly. We have two kiddos (4 & 8) and they love going to kids church, where they have age appropriate teachings and get to connect with friends. You can also keep your kids in the service (some folks do!) if you or they are more comfortable with that. They have free coffee & donuts every week so if you're running late don't worry about grabbing coffee before you leave. They have statues where you can light real candles for $3 below them. Other places have those electronic ones which makes it seem cheap and unholy. They have English mass at 9 and 11:30 am. There's a Spanish mass at 1 pm. The parking is about a block away at their school. There's also parking behind the church.

This is a church with two services, a booming congregation and all the "traditional" attributes of my old church (ushers, program, bible study, communion, baptism). I loved it and felt right at home. Then I heard the Praise Team sing and I felt something behind that, better! Finally, the Pastor got up. Before preaching, Pastor Edmond personally greeted each visitor and talked to us. He is so genuine, kind and welcoming. He also preaches a good word and manages the staff and congregation with ease. Pastor Edmond is the best! I am truly blessed to have found this gem and am now a 3 year member! Come visit us some time.

St. Joseph Catholic Church is where my brother and sister-in law were married. St. Joseph Catholic Church was the second church built in Elgin and is over 140 years old. Located in downtown Elgin, the church serves a wide range of parishioners. The church has English and Spanish services as well as an attached school. The inside of the church is beautiful. It has bright white walls with gorgeous stained glass windows along the length of the chapel. The altar is a monument to their faith. With statues on both sides of the altar and a remarkable vault where the communion wafers and wine are kept. The organ in the back of the church will certainly fit the mood for any occasion. The deacon who preformed the service was a professional and did a great job. There was plenty of seating and the guests all had a wonderful time at the wedding. I highly recommend St. Joseph Catholic Church!
