Their mission is to grow in faith, serve those in need, and bring people to Christ. Service is at 10 AM every Sunday. They are a "Reconciled in Christ Lutheran Church" which means they recognize and welcome gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender believers. They hold a Pride Festival in June. I came to the church to attend the Flea Market and Bazaar which is on the third Saturday of every month. People were set up selling all kinds of second hand things and plants in the parking lot and in one of the church rooms. My favorite purchase was a vintage locket that still had pictures inside. After shopping I toured the sanctuary. It has beautiful stained glass which I love. Although I already have a church home I always enjoy seeing other places of worship, Christian or otherwise. I really like how this church wants to include everyone. The people volunteering at the sale were very welcoming too. I had a very nice visit.

But I do enjoy stopping by churches, especially the historic ones of Europe in order to admire their architecture, meet some of their parishioners and find out what their social and assistance programs are like. Churches do good works and for that have earned my overall praise. So when I was offered a tour of Christ Lutheran Church I eagerly accepted. When entering the first thing to strike my eye was the enormity and beauty of this church. It is most unique in construction with a flying buttress architectural design. Its stained glass windows are the real thing, not only beautiful to look at but give a certain rainbow cast of light within the church. I also really liked the seating which is of individual padded chairs; none of those painfully uncomfortable horrid wooden torturing pews. I was also taken by the fact that they have several kitchens, nothing particularly good and with certain items like stoves that can't be functionally used, but capable of doing simple food service. One of the most wonderful things however is a children's playground and preschooling program with the background thought of recognition, respect and value of all children as a creation and gift from God. They further have flea market programs and food programs suppling free food to the less fortunate. Then, as another pleasant to me feature is that this churches is dedicated to equal and loving treatment without regard to racial or ethnic distinction, family status, age, economic status, gender, sexual orientation, or differing abilities.

Father Gabriel has a deep and genuine spirituality that I missed when other people took over. I don't know the current priest, though, so nothing I write should be considered a criticism of him. In fact, if Father Loubriel is the pastor, I like him a lot and think he is very warm and nice. I guess it was just hard for me to change. The parish is an example of multiculturalism at its best with members from the U.S., Europe, Haiti, Latin America, and Asia. The congregation is friendly and supportive. Check out the Saturday morning patio Bible study. It's great.
