St. Vincent is certainly the best thrift store in Long Beach, and it is probably one of the best thrift stores in the greater LA/OC area. It really has a lot of very, very unique stuff. This is probably the main thing to keep in mind about St. Vincent, it has a vast variety of a lot of different things. Many times, you'll find things here that you won't find at other thrift stores. Whether you're looking for clothing, shoes, furniture, household items, books, records, electronic items, bicycles, rugs, and pretty much everything else you can think, you can probably find it here. Plus, they have very reasonable prices. This is a large establishment. They have their main room, which is the one you enter either through their rear doors or their front door off of PCH. Then, they also have the back room. Here, you will find a lot of unique everything. Plus, they also have the room where they keep their vast selection of books for sale. Thus, you can really spend a lot of time perusing the shelves and the aisles of this store. This is a really fun thrift store to shop at. I've been coming here forever. The staff here are always super nice. And, they're happy to help you out if you need any help. Located on Pacific Coast Highway, St. Vincent is really easy to find. You can park in front, on PCH, that's where I like to park. They also have a parking lot in the rear, where you can generally find parking spots. This is truly one of those shops where you never know what you're going to find. You may go in there looking for something specific, or you may find that item that you never knew you needed, but you're really happy that you did find it. This used to be one of my favorites! I used to come to this place weekly but within the last 2-3 weeks the prices have skyrocketed. Some items are reasonable but the furniture and housewares items have been blown out of proportion. Some items I have waited to come Monday morning to buy for the $2.25 have been pulled off the floor and are now repriced with a new color tag. People who frequent this place notice! read more

Prices are a bit high. Found things from the dollar tree more expensive here. They were getting rid of things cause they were not selling (as in throwing things away that could be donated to a woman's shelter or lower the price cause its too expensive). Prices need to be reasonable, not as expensive as brand new or more. Walked out empty handed. read more

I dislike leaving negative reviews but from start to finish the experience here has been unpleasant. While shopping there was a volunteer who came for their first scheduling and the woman supervising the volunteer was incredibly demeaning and rude to her in front of everyone. For privacy reasons I won't get into details but the supervisor was very rude about health conditions the volunteer had and it was sad to see a business that presents itself as a helpful organization treat people like this. Apart from the supervisors not treating their staff well, the store does not accept returns on items so if you notice damage once it is purchased, there is nothing they are willing to do. It is very expensive for a thrift store, jackets were priced at $70 or more and most other thrift stores in the area have better prices for clothes that were donated. read more

Today I walk in and the tall African American man presses me about the price of the shoe and im so caught off guard! Like I don't know what to tell you! I felt paying $20 for used shoes is pretty high and I also thought at that price was relatively fair! So idk if he thought I changed the price but that was very rude of him to even think that! I usually never buy shoes from here for that fact alone as they are highly priced! Also this store is more like a resale store! I would understand if they posted there things online where it's to a broader market but you're having people in the community support you! Also who gives you these items, you should do the right thing and make it fair for the community instead of trying to get over on free merchandise! Do not waste your time donating items to this organization! I moved out of my house in Orange and reached out to St. Vincent de Paul 3 times (left two messages). Someone finally returned my call last week to schedule a pick up date, for today 8am - 3pm. During the call last week, I asked "what happens if it rains? I don't want to ruin the desk, filing cabinet, chairs, household items, etc." She replied "just put a tarp over it." Since we are not residing at the house in Orange anymore, it takes time to drive back and forth. They were not flexible with hours so my husband had to wake up early and drive from HB to Orange to put all items on the curb. They did not show up and of course, the rain did ruin most of the boxes and items! I don't understand how anyone with any level of common sense would suggest putting items in the pouring rain. Very well organized thrift shop, quality of items is pretty good too but some of it is garbage so look it over before you buy. The prices have increased horrendously since the covid 19 reopening. Some of the items that are barely used are almost the price as if they were brand new. The items are all "donations", and they are charging much higher prices than before. These pieces of furniture are priced as though it's an antique store. Very retro and vintage pieces for slightly higher prices. Dresses were what I was looking for and they were $12 a piece but when they were scanned I ended up with 50% off. I went on a Tuesday and was unsure if thats a usual thing or there happened to be a deal that day. Lovely pieces regardless, lots of clothing and furniture inventory. The staff is very rude. I have been shopping there for about 15 years but in the last year the staff are very rude. First I baught 2 chairs when I went to pick them up they would only give me one. They said someone else baught them. Before I bought them the cashier looked them up and they were not purchased. The manager was really rude as well. There prices are way to high . They are as high as regular store prices. Today I went to donate 2 chaira and he told me they had hair on them and takebit off. I took the hair off them tells me he can't take them because they had cat hair on them. Which I had just taken them off. I am never shopping there again. read more

I used to love this place and there are still good deals to be had, but lately they are few and far between. One big issue is that St. Vincent's management team has decided to stop putting price tags on much of their merchandise. Want to know how much they would charge you for something? Despite the giant sign behind the register that says unpriced items won't be sold, I was told to take my item up to the register and wait for a manager to come up with a price. Unpriced furniture or something else too large to carry around? I was told to take a picture and show it at the register so that a manager can price it. What if there's a long line at the register as there often is? Simply wait in line for 10+ minutes so that you may learn how much an item costs. This system also means many items never go on sale. If they tell you an unpriced item costs $20, they won't have to amend that price in a week or two with the normal color tag sales. Not that they would have to do that anyway, because they regularly scrape the price tags off of items before they would go on sale for $1.20 - which they wouldn't have to do if they priced things lower to begin with. If an item doesn't sell for half of what you originally asked, your original price was *more than double* what it should have been. read more

Compared to the LA location, this one is not as organized or as good in selection. Even the parking lot was smaller. There were some new mattresses from overstock but the rest were messy piles of clothing and not worth sifting through. Definitely recommend the Goodwill a few miles down PCH though. read more

Wally at O'mySole in Belmont Shore, Long Beach, was a tremendous help in selecting shoes for the wedding of my daughter's best friend. VDP was cool a few years back when the back of the store was super packed with stuff and you could spend an hour or two looking through stuff. The guy taking the donations rejected our donations today. There were alot of high end brand new shoes. Never worn. Also some shoes that I actually purchased from there like two years ago. He didn't want to accept them. Also i had a bunch of dvds and household items. Frames and such.... so I paired a couple pairs of the brand new wedge sandals together. And he took those. Also in the process broke one of the china pieces that belonged to a set in the process. So we left had another big bin in the car to donate.as well as a big set of wine glasses. .. Kudos to the awesome managers, Yule, and Daniel, including their team...as Jose, Alex and Carlos and everyone else of this team, plus this include the welcoming and sweet Darren, who greets at the door and checks ur purchases, and security Sel, who keeps everything organized and safe! Now, this place is above and beyond, and it should be a staple for all other thrift shops! We simply love their system, appreciate so much how they don't tape china as so many other thrift shops are doing, (which destroys the design or the gold or silver trim on the china and glass). When they do use tape, it is the gentle masking tape that protects the item. Their was a small challenge, which was professionally handled, and they took this incident and perfected it, so it does not happen again. This is what you call great leadership, Yule and Daniel, I am grateful how you both lead this place. All their large items as furnisher have two stickers. The larger sticker can be removed and taken to the cashier to pay for it. You only have 15 minutes to purchase the item. There was a silly man who saw me get the sticker, and I could tell he wanted the item. Went on with my business of finding treasures, and somehow, he ended up purchasing my item. It was a bit annoying that he sneaked it and convinced the pricer employee that their was no sticker and got a new sticker. I don't blame the employee, I blame the con man who knew exactly what he was doing. Now wonderful JOSE, the cashier was sincerely apologetic for the incident, and so was the lady who helped search for the person who took my table. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be to get the sweet coffee table back. What came out of it is... They simply enhance their system to give a better shopping experience for their customers!
