This Vinnie's has a lot of stuff but I usually don't find anything I'm looking for here. I've gotten lucky a couple of times in the past but most of the time I walk away empty handed. They have a great book section, and their general household section is pretty big. They also have a lot of furniture to peruse. The people who work here are nice, just incredibly busy. The parking lot is a bit of a nightmare and, aside from being out in Springfield, is the only drawback to this location. It is tough to get out of and finding a spot can be challenging even in the middle of a weekday. I don't come here super often, but I like to stop by when I'm in the area. Short: Staff are friendly and the store is well-organized. Along with spacious and lots of variety. A pretty good location near downtown springfield. Visited week of Sept 23rd 2022. My friend and I visited and were greeted by 2 employees. The shoes are located on the right hand side of entering along with purses. Up above, there are the prices of what colors are on sale, 25% or 50% off. [Organization]: This store is **organized**! The books [category, but way spacious to look], DVDs, CDs, stationary, seasonal decor, shoes [by color not size, then by category], photo frames, cups, furniture, clothes are all on racks with clear signs, and etc. They do have a good handful of jewelry and other speciality items in cases. It was easy to find a helpful and friendly employee to ask for an item in the case. [Price]: I do think depending on what the item is, St.Vinnies is cheaper than Goodwill. At Vinnies, most of the items are a flat price. Such as books, buttons, cards, clothes,and magazines. I ended up buying a handful of books and magazines, and spent about $30. Some were specialty and hardcover too! I decided to keep this review short, since it was overall just a lovely and great experience. I ended up spending over 2 hours browsing around and found a bunch of great things I've been looking for on my personal list. Super impressed and happy about that! I didn't even look at clothes! This is my absolute favorite St. Vinnie's location! It's close to my house, easy to get to. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The store is well maintained and organized. The book section is quite large and well organized. It's easy to find what I'm looking for. My husband always makes me wait until he has a day off to visit this specific location together. The clothing section is well organized as well, and it's rare to find things in the wrong section. When looking for sizes, things aren't just haphazardly thrown onto the rack. It's something they take care of and maintain quite well. Which is impressive to me. Fitting rooms are clean and maintained. They have a rack for unwanted clothes right outside and they promptly put them back, so it stays clean and nothing piles up. They have an item limit in the fitting room, which everyone does. My husband just hangs out near there, in the furniture section and trades out what I've tried on and either keeps it or puts it on the return rack. The housewares department can be a treasure trove of finds, if you are patient and just keep looking. I've found matching wine glasses to sets I've broken some of. I've found craft projects to do. I've found decorations for my house, or even projects to make myself here. Prices here are not expensive at all. Hardback books are less than $3. I've found an almost brand new pair of Sketchers shoes for $7.99. I found Lucy brand yoga pants for $11.99 in unused condition. I've bought scarves for $3.99. They have specials each day, a certain color tag is full price, another is 25% off and a third is 50% off. Which makes finding great deals just that much sweeter! Store never seems well organized or taken care of. Always looks a bit cluttered and dirty compared to the other stores around. I do shop here frequently... it's close to 3 other places I have to go to weekly so I always stop by to get things for various projects I have going. I make and sell things and i am often able to take a few pieces of this and that and make something new. On average, I spend 50 to 100 bucks a month at the Q st store. I wont be going there any longer however. Here's what happened... I grabbed a kitchen knife out of the bin containing all the knives. Every knife was marked 1.99 or 2.99 but the one I grabbed was unmarked. The young lady asked her coworker how much it was and was told 4.99. I said that must be wrong because all the similar knives were clearly 1.99 to 2.99. I told her I was interested at 2.99 since all the others were that price. Long story but in a nutshell the woman, "in charge" I didn't get her name, was condescending and confrontational. It was only 2 bucks difference but I was not going to pay for it when it was surrounded by similar ones for less. "Its a nicer knife." She said. At any rate... they lost my business over remarkably poor customer service but they got to keep that 4.99 knife. Whoo hooo! read more

I used to be a customer at this store for many many years and since the very first week it opened, but the cadre of workers has driven me from ever going back. I could write many instances about the culture of this organization denigrating their longtime loyal customers, but let's just take two. My brother was having health issues a few years ago, so I parked outside the front door for around a minute or so while he was checking out. One of the long-term employees who has ragged on me many times before, came out and threatened to call the police on me if I didn't immediately move. She must have been watching me the whole time I was in the parking lot to have reacted so quickly. I understand that technically I shouldn't have parked out front, but I think there are better ways of handling the problem than to just start threatening me immediately. The sad fact is, I don't think she was trying to fix the issue. She was trying to exert dominance and control over me like she has in many other issues over the years. When I'm in the stores, I never create any problems, so let's create some. Another, I was the first in line, and 20 minutes or more earlier than anyone else waiting outside the store for the change of a color tag so I could purchase some expensive speakers. When they opened the doors, I went straight for the speakers and was the first to ask to buy them, but because the manager who is currently at the store saw who I am one of the customers the organization profiles, she sold them to the other couple who was waiting in line after me for them. In what universe is the first person who asks to buy something with cash in hand not the one who gets to buy them. It just goes to show, they don't treat all customers equally. read more

After visiting most all of the St. Vinnie's in the Eugene/Springfield area, this location is one that I prefer based on staff and selection. However, I have found consistently that their prices, particularly furniture and other home items, is extremely high compared to Goodwill and even retailers such as Target. I shop at thrift stores primarily to reuse/repurpose/recycle and not just buy everything brand new, so I am willing to pay more than garage sale prices for sure, but I fail to see why an end table, sofa, etc would be more expensive at St. Vinnie's then driving over to Target and buying one (of the same quality) brand new. I'm giving two stars because I do appreciate that their items are in good condition and things such as clothing and toys/puzzles/games are priced fairly, in my opinion. read more

Convenient location and just what you'd expect out of the St. Vincent de Paul. Staff is friendly and always welcome with you. Their shoe selection as usual is selected by color not by size so that does make it a little bit difficult. But their selection is always great on everything from decorations to home goods and clothing. I'm always sure to check the seasonal stuff! read more

This is the worst St. Vinnie's in the Valley. Prices are high, attitude of the manager was not very friendly. Picked out a bunch of different ratchet sockets that didn't have a single price tag. Manager acted like we had removed the tags. Hey I know people do that at thrift stores and you have to protect the store, but there wasn't a single tag on any socket, let alone the ones I picked out. The price he wanted was twice as much as the going rate. Won't waste our time again. read more

I've gotten some great stuff here since moving to the area. Now I will not be going back after this latest interaction. I saw a whole bunch of complete junk (much of it electric appliances, cracked, and unable to be tested for functioning) all priced to be $20 and up, much of it not even comparable to each other in quality or type of item. I then saw a stack of scratched, stained Dollar Tree cereal bowls which I also own at home priced at $4.99 a BOWL. I brought this to the attention of the staff, and they argued with me, saying whoever priced the bowls must have not realized what they were doing. They then tried to sell me the bowls for $0.99 a piece when the context was that I ALREADY have the bowls, that's how I know where they are from. They aren't worth a dollar anymore. They are lucky to be worth 25 cents each in that state on the shelf. The staff clearly weren't listening to me at all, as the main issue I was bringing up was the across-the-board overpricing. Their one example of a high price being reasonable was that a picture frame I indicated was from Pottery Barn...so the other piece of crap picture frame for the same price was also from Pottery Barn? It wasn't. If Pottery Barn is so important, why is the frame on the floor, up against a shelf, getting bumped into by people and scratched? It wasn't new overstock from Pottery Barn, it was someone's personal donation that had lost it's Pottery Barn status, in my opinion. It wasn't a Louis Vuitton bag or a pawned diamond, for Pete's sake. In the end, I see this as a management or company issue. I don't believe the staff at St. Vinnie's really have that much power over it all going downhill. read more

I really do like this store and this location in particular but I can only give it an average rating. One thing I particularly like about this location is the staff. They are much more friendly and seem like "normal" people here compared to many of the other locations. It's also very spacious and they have a huge selection of books and movies and records. The reason I'm not giving it a better rating: In the past few years they have for some reason began raising their prices to be comparable to full market value or higher for used stuff. Considering St. Vincent de Paul styles itself as a charitable thrift store, one tends to expect the stuff to be a little more affordable than, say, ebay or a type of retail store that actually pays money for their inventory. For example, they individually price their video games according to market value, and then raise it a little bit. So in most cases it's less expensive to buy the same game at the actual video game store across the street! And these games have been donated to the store. It just doesn't seem right. You can try to time it in order to find the game on the 50% off sticker day, and donating you can get another discount.. But, this takes a lot of dedication and more often than not the game is gone by then anyway. I'm not one to complain when someone overprices stuff (I just don't buy it, no harm no foul). BUT, it's the reason for the "meh" rating because it just gives me a kind of bad impression of the people running the store. (Meaning, not the staff but the "bosses" or whoever makes these decisions. Again the staff is great here.) With all that said, I do find useful items there sometimes and it's a good place to look for movies or books, or kitchen appliances, etc. If St. Vincent's was a store that paid money for the used stuff coming in, and everything else was the same, it would just seem normal and I would easily give it 4 stars. read more

Love this place! I've made out with some good finds for good prices. It's a little crowded but that's pretty Common for a thrift store. It's pretty clean and doesn't smell too old, once again that can be common. Some people are complaining about prices but when I went up to purchase my items most of them were an extra 50% off and I wonder if those people didn't know that before reviewing. I got a great pair of cute barely worn heels for two bucks! It's also pretty fun to look around in here read more

This is not my favorite thrift store. The plusses are that the staff are very friendly, and it's just a couple minutes from my house. The minuses are that their prices on a lot of things (particularly furniture) are toooo high. It is my understanding that they are selling donated items ( items people no longer want or need), but the furniture prices read like an antique store. Also, the clothing...women's jeans are arranged onto racks labeled S, M, L, and XL. What does that mean anyway? Going through looking for your size on such generalized size racks is frustrating. I used to shop at Value Village till it closed a few months ago. You could find real bargains there. They had a 40% off senior discount day, which was great. St. Vinnie's give a crappy 10% off for seniors (like Goodwill). I feel like these bigger thrift stores are just ripping people off. I'm not saying I won't shop here anymore but I sure miss Value Village. St. Vinnie's: offer a larger senior and military/veterans discount! read more
