As a student making arrangements to go on an international exchange early last year, I was recommended to come to STA by my international exchange advisor. Through my university, they had arranged cheap deals for students and also I could go into a competition to win $500 in travel vouchers, so I couldn't really see any faults. I did in fact win this competition, which was pretty sweet, however to be honest I didn't reallyyyy want to spend my prize money with STA. Don't get me wrong, my travel agent was super nice and friendly and was really great to chat to whenever I went in, but unfortunately the flight they put me on to get to Europe was less than ideal; stopping in Tahiti for a day both there and back. Yes, this was the cheapest flight available on the dates that I wanted to leave; however I wasn't told to take into account how expensive everything in Tahiti was (accommodation, transport, food) so I probably would have been better off taking a more expensive, more direct flight over. So just remember to ask all the right questions when you go in - they are all about getting cheap travel deals, however as I found these are not always technically the "cheapest" in reality (so thank god I won that prize money as a bit of compensation!). read more
