They checked on the approval before they proceeded. The dentist said he needed our present dentures to make new ones claiming this was only for the teeth part not the part that sits on our gums. We thought it odd, but we complied, didn't go anywhere for that week w/o teeth, & had trouble trying to eat w/o teeth, too. I went in 1st to get the newly made dentures & dentist shoved the bottom right onto the sensitive gum I've had since childhood. He knew I had this issue, yet shoved that bottom piece in so roughly it cut my gum. He adjusted it sending bits of acrylic all over me (no bib provided) & tried to shove it in again. I stopped him, tried it, & said it wasn't right. He got irate, left the office, & came back shoving it into my mouth again so fast & with so much adhesive on it, I literally gagged & needed to get it back out immediately. He provided a cup to rinse my mouth out & said come back if I needed any more adjustments. I told him we were NOT done, he just laughed, & put another patient in the chair I was supposed to be in! Yes, I was upset over this, I still needed the dentures adjusted before I left the office! When I filed a grievance with my insurance company, the dentist stated I didn't go in for adjustments. I was abused & pushed out of his office before he adjusted them right the 1st time so why would I go back for more abuse? Now my insurance is used up, dentures aren't right, & he lied to the insurance stating I refused to come in for adjustments when he refused to adjust them properly when I was in there! My husband's dentures were made even worse than mine, his were off center, he mentioned this fact, & the dentist got irate yelling at my husband for the dentures being made wrong. Newsflash, my husband didn't make them! This yelling occurred when my husband went back for an adjustment, he was belttled, & the dentist told our insurance my husband didn't go back? BS, my husband went back only to be belittled, & that was why he refused to go back for more of the same! We were both treated like dirt when we told the truth about how badly these dentures were made! This is total unprofessional behavior! We don't recommend this dentist to anyone. Beware.

I paid for all of my dental work up front at this time. On my first visit I waited 3 hours and by 500 pm they took me back. The dentist did not come back to my cubicle. I went to the front desk and there sat the dentist so after some heated words I made another appointment to have my 1st extraction done. On my 2nd visit, it took 1.5 hours to extract my tooth. My post-op instructions said to go back 7-10 days to have the sutures removed. I made an appointment 9 days out to have this done. On the day before, I received a call from them saying that their policy had changed and I would have to pay an additional $25.00 as a post-op fee to have my sutures removed. This fee was not on my original care plan cost and was a new policy. I told them I would not pay the additional fee because it was not on my initial care plan AND it was an after the fact new policy. They canceled my appointment. They said they would give me a refund after several call between myself and the co-founder, Sabrina Blue. but that I was being discharged as a patient. That was in May. I went back to my old dentist the next day and there were no sutures in my socket. The sutures were dissolvable. I put in a consumer complaint with the Attorney General of Tennessee in late June about them not refunding my fees AND them charging an additional $25.00 as a post-op fee to all these poor people to remove something that has dissolved. Finally, I received my refund almost 2.5 months after I was told I would receive it but the issue about them charging for removal of "dissolvable " sutures was NOT satisfactorily addressed The fact that they are charging for work to remove something that does not exist is an abominable thing to be doing to poor people who do not have much money. Tomorrow I go back to my original dentist to have my other tooth extraction and it is going to cost me more than 3 times more to have it done. This is not a professional place to go to for dental work, it's economical(cheap) but you get what you pay for. Be weary of this place.

Luckily, Empire helped and extracted the tooth. Empire is great! If they had my insurance coverage ,I would certainly use them for all dentistry. Aspen called us about a week after appointment date wanting to service us. Maybe one day they will suffer with a toothache as my spouse did. I will NEVER, NEVER do (or try to do) business with Aspen again. They are horrible and the appearance of their location was filthy. Obviously Dr Givens is a fraud or just does not care!
