So that's where you're supposed to park when visiting UC Berkeley. As a Cal student back in the day I did not have a car until my last few years. It was simply easier to use BART and occasionally bum rides off friends and relatives, LOL! These days, BART is still available but they got Uber and Lyft too. If you want hassle-free and convenient parking near campus, Stadium Parking is great! More than 3 hrs and its $15 when there's no football game. The lot is large, clean, well-marked, and has large spaces. A few spots has charging stations and some dedicated spots for Uber and Zipcars. You pay by cash or credit at the machines before leaving. On a Saturday afternoon, they also had an attendant hang out to help out just in case. The lot is literally next to Haas Business School and a short walk through School of Optometry and a little further to my destination, Chemistry Plaza.

Never knew you could review parking lots or parking structures which is probably the most strange…read morereview I'll ever write but anything is Yelp-able! Anywho, the Perry Lot. It's not just your ordinary parking structure it's a Berkeley parking structure. It seriously has its own culture within the parking lot. You can feel the hipster vintage vibes seeping through the cement walls, air was very hipster and vintage. It was like being in a different world but in Berkeley. Stepping out of the car I was so confused as I felt I was instantly thrown back into the 70s with all the vintage energy i was receiving from this parking structure. A burst of cold air rushed in and reminding me I was not in the 70s but in Berkeley 2021. It's cold so dress accordingly!!! I never do :( On a serious note, your typical parking structure that leads to like the main road with shops, food and clothes!! I seriously love the architecture of the parking structure. Since I lived in Los Angeles I always dread parking structures ---- they give me nightmares but this wasn't so bad probably because we found parking mega easy! We felt safe, the car was still there and walking distance to main areas. I recommend giving this parking structure a shot :) it's not just an ordinary parking structure it's a BERKELEY parking structure, according to the dude xD

It's okay as far as parking garages go. For several hours on a Sunday, it cost only $9 to park,…read morewhich is great. The location is awesome, and central to a lot of good shopping and local eateries, and close to campus. There is a bathroom in the building near the pay stations, but it was out of toilet paper, seat covers and soap, so clearly not maintained very often as it was not very late in the day, As other reviewers have mentioned, the parking spaces are tight. I have a small car, and it when the garage started filling up, it was more difficult to leave the space I parked in. Overall good experience.

Ideally located and…read moreconvenient to the eateries and businesses in a busy area of Berkeley, I've definitely taken advantage of the first hour free, to avoid any fees when I visit spots like Insomnia Cookies, The Yard Milkshake Bar, and Games of Berkeley. The one-way lanes in the garage are a little confusing at first, but they do have a lot of signs and painted arrows on the ground to help lead the way. The parking spaces are narrow, but the garage is spacious otherwise so it's not cramped when trying to back out. Visitors pay for parking at the Telegraph Channing Shops, next to the elevator on ground level. Restrooms are located here, too. But there's often a long wait for the elevator, so I prefer to take the stairs up back to my car. Beware, the stairways are nasty and smelly and have limited access. You can only enter the stairwell on Channing, as Durant is exit only and the door is locked from the outside.

This place is a scam. More on that later, but if you're TL;DRing, just know it's a scam…read more Downtown Berkeley has its share of awful parking garages. This isn't the worst one, but it's pretty bad. Its design is atrocious. Instead of just building a squarish parking structure in an empty lot, they built this one into an existing building, so there are all these random walls everywhere. The only way I can think of to describe the interior configuration is that it's a long diamond. Now try to fit parking spots into those curved edges. There are also random single slots between walls and columns. Its design is just horribly inefficient. Once you've finally found parking, if you were able to, you probably won't know how to get out, because the signs are confusing, and the elevator and the exit seem to be in completely different places. The painted walking/wheelchair paths on the ground make absolutely no sense, either. My main gripe with this place is that its posted prices are lower than what the machine charges you. That's right; they charge more than they say they will, which is a violation of California law. I hope someone sues the bejesus out of whoever owns this poor excuse for a parking garage. This being the City of Berkeley, it's probably owned by the city but managed by some two-bit contractor. Beware, visitors, beware! You're generally better off getting more fairly and honestly ripped off at the newish structure on Addison Street.

Basically, it's $3/hr until your 4th hour, which is $25. These parking garage levels are quite complex because their names start with a number and then letter (e.g. 4E), which is why I had a hard time looking for my car since I only relied on just the parking level rather than its name. Be careful not to park overnight and then the next day. Some reviewers said that they can't go to their cars since they arrived outside of hours of operation and ended up paying way more most likely because their cars are parked the next day and that parking rates are enforced. I highly advise you to read the signs carefully and leave the garage before this garage closes. Overall, this is a convenient parking garage to go to if you plan to stay for more than 4 hours.

I was with a friend who had trouble climbing stairs so this presented a huge problem. My first review was pretty direct. I called out the City of Berkeley for ADA issues since the elevators were out of service and there was no signage on the elevators. Later, I did reach out to Kevin Phan, Project Manager, City of Berkeley but to be honest his response was a cut and paste job that he had probably sent to hundreds of other concerned Berkeley residents. I was not impressed. Later, Noah Budnick, Senior Management Analyst, City of Berkeley emailed me with a personal apology and a response that was well written and genuine. Noah gets my vote for employee of the month award for his sincere note. Center Street Parking Garage is one of the best garage's I've used in the Bay Area. . (I used to work in the City and know most of the public Garages in Downtown.) It's safe, well lit and reasonably priced if you arrive after 5:00pm. Matt says If you are in Berkeley attending the Freight and Salvage or the Greek Theater this garage is a great option.
