Stadshart Amstelveen is a large shopping centre in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. If you are coming from Amsterdam, you can get the number 5 tram or the bus here which drops off nearby. The mall's layout is a little confusing, it is spread out with several buildings and an outdoor area. The main part of the mall was clean, modern and fairly attractive, as I visited just before Christmas 2023, there were some decorations around the mall. For such a large mall in a big city, even more so considering it is outside of the main city centre, I do find the closing times surprising - the mall closes at 6 pm daily, other than Thursday when it is open until 9 pm. A list of the more well-known brands located here, either internationally or through The Netherlands include: Albert Heijn De Bijenkorf HEMA Joe and the Juice McDonald's Starbucks 3* - A decent mall overall, a short distance away via car or public transport from Amsterdam, the opening hours could be better allowing more time for visitors from the city to spend time here and shop, but there are some nice stores here which may be worth a visit. read more

Beautiful "Mall" in the south of Amsterdam in Amstelveen.This is a high-end mall with very clean stores and floors! Nice outdoor terraces as well as a huge book store and a parking garage you could eat off of the floor in. Free 1.5 hour parking too! Can't beat that! read more

A cute little shopping center to venture in for the winter. Most of the shops did not grab my attention, but I guess if you live in the neighborhood then it is pretty convenient. My favorite part was the small dessert section. They have some lovely desserts to purchase for a holiday gathering. Also If you want to get in the spirit of the holidays , then you can jump start your shopping a little early here. I think the best time to come is Tuesday or Friday because they have also an outdoor market infront of the shopping center. read more

Holy Moly! This is a MASSIVE shopping center, located in the south-eastern suburbs of Amsterdam. It's a bit hard to describe the layout, as the shops (and indeed the mall itself) is spread out between several buildings and the main shopping part is this mixed use area with tons of apartments with the shops laid out on the ground floor. The shops itself are the regular mixture - some high end luxury brands, but the majority are those you find any where in the world at a mall nowa days, like L'Occitane en Provence or The Body Shop, to name a few. The restaurants are all towards the outskirts of the buildings, so facing the square, rather than inside. There is also a small-ish Albert Heijn, located in the basement of the mall. I was told at the info desk that the mall is open the first Sunday of every month and until 9:00 pm on Thursdays (apart from regular business hours during the week). I also have to give props to how easy it is to reach the shopping center via public transport. BTW, "Stadshart" means center or heart and so loved the poetic nature of how this mall is named. Also, they throw some great cultural festivities - one weekend in November I came for the Diwali festival on a Saturday and then the next day on a Sunday, it was transformed into the Japan festival. They put up a big pavilion and so both festivities took place under sheltered awnings which was great to keep out of the cold and the sprinkling of rain. The stadshart is shopping center which has plenty of parking places, but is also easily reachable via public transportation. There is a large variety of shops here, so there should always be something for anybody :) Every now and then they also organize some larger events. When we were there, during the whole weekend they had the Japan Festival. This meant that you had small demonstrations everywhere (bonzai trees / tea ceremonies) and a large stage on the main square combined with lots of small food stands where you could try different japanese food. read more

Amstelveen is no Amsterdam, even though it may feel like Amsterdam because it is so close to it and trams and metro go there. It is only a short ride though so sometimes you might find yourself end up there, especially if you are looking for Japanese and Korean stuff I think, since there live a lot of Korean and Japanese people in Amstelveen. The Stadshart (city's heart) is Amstelveens center, the place where you can find all the big stores, restaurants/, the bus station, cinema/theatre and libary, cafes, weekly market (A very nice one I think) and large car parking areas. I have to say I think Amstelveen has all the shops a shopping center needs but mostly you will only find the bigger brands here, do not expect to buy vintage stuff in Amstelveen or find a cool artsy bookstore. They have shops like HEMA, V&D, Bijenkorf, H&M, XENOS, ZARA (I go shopping here for ZARA because this location is so neat and nice!), Sissy Boy, The Sting and much more. Shopping here is fine and you can find nice things and even though the whole shopping center looks nice, modern, neat and clean I do not like shopping here that much. The place lacks style and specialty shops and is a bit too 'new'. But I can imagine that someone who just wants to go to a few big shops likes this place very much. When I come here I like to visit the market, go to Bijenkorf, Sissy boy and ZARA for shopping, visit the lovely bookstore in the libary, have a coffee at the Douwe Egberts Cafe and eat something in V&D's restaurant La Place. I hear a Starbucks is opening here soon so that might be nice as well. read more

A pretty huge selection of stores all under ...multiple... rooves. While there are many stores of many different varieties, I must say it is quite difficult to navigate. If you want to walk around and see all of the stores it's difficult to figure out which direction to go, there are so many ways to choose from! Nice shopping center.. easily reached by a car or public transportation. There is a quite nice selection of shops like Bijenkorf, VD, Zara, Massimo Dutti and lots more. You can also find a place to have a small coffee break or lunch. The weekend when we visited the mall they had a Japan Festival on the square, which was a great event to get to know Japanese culture and food a bit more. read more

I'm so excited to have found a real, actual mall (almost) in Amsterdam! There is an extensive range of stores of all kinds, including plenty of fashion options and a Kiko cosmetics! It's a little tricky to navigate because it's more than one building, so just keep going through doors until you run out of shops. Plenty of spots to stop and snack! read more

Ok, let me tell you I am no fan of shopping malls. One of the things I love about Amsterdam is that there are so few of them. But even I have to admit that they can be useful. You just want to quickly and comfortably go to several stores, not worry about parking and have lunch, while the kids are having fun as well. In that case, this mall is the best one. For Amsterdammers like myself, Amstelveen sounds like bland and boring suburbia, but I have to reconsider my opinion a bit after my trip there yesterday. Very easily accessible by public transportation and car, you will find major Dutch box stores, C&A, HEMA, a small Bijenkorff, H&M together with some good eating facilities, from bitterballen to a Turkish diner. There is also a library, movie theater and art exchange that are definitely worthwhile. They also have plenty of special festivals that are definitely worth a visit! And for Art buffs like myself, the COBRA museum is right next door. read more
