Düsseldorf isn't Milan or Paris or New York, but there's money here to be spent for big money on everything from fur coats, clothing, electronics, luggage to jewelry and fragrance. Königsallee is literally "King's Avenue" and it runs for 1000 meters with a lovely landscaped canal between the two sides. Check out the Tritonenbrunnen where it crosses Theodor-Körner-Straße. Koenigsallee is the "big shopping street" in Dusseldorf. It's not THAT big, maybe five or six…read moreblocks long, with shops only on one side of the street. It's very high end in general, despite the omnipresent H&M. There are several Rolex dealers, Armani, Vuitton and just about every other international luxury brand plus some interesting local boutiques. A big plus is the peaceful canal running town the center of the Allee. Lined with shady plane trees and benches, it's a great place to sip a coffee and come to terms with the consequences of your spending spree. Why 3 stars? Bottom line, 5 stars is the "best" and Koenigsalle is nice without question. But it's not the Champs Elysees, 5th Avenue or even Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

Evidence shows that The Hill of Slane can be traced back to primordial times. Probably as old as…read morethe Neolithic period. I read that in Christian history that the hill became well known as the site where St. Patrick first lit the paschal fire in the direct rebelliousness of the pagan kings at nearby Tara. I visited the hill of Slane on a rather misty, grey October afternoon and found just a few other tourists at the place. The sight of the surrounding countryside was awe-inspiring and stretch as far as the Irish Sea. The Hill of Slane has a very fascinating and mystical history. The mound which sits on the western part of the hill, protected from view by a tree, is said to be of Norman origin. It was probably the entombment mound of Sláine, the Fir Bolg King. The mound also has fascinating alignments with other prehistoric sites, and in mythology may have an astronomical connection. I had great fun exploring the ruins; lookout for the carving of a reptilian dragon, see if you can catch a glimpse of the gargoyle staring at you.

This is the best place for a Sunday walk. It is very beautiful with the newly build up crane…read morehouses. Also the renovated old buildings look beautiful. There is an area for skater and open sand volleyball fields. A good place just to hang around and watch sporty people. I heard that you can take architectural tours through this area which are highly recommended. I also came here for running. Especially the view from the other side is worth going. So if you visit Cologne you have to come here, for sure.
