Yeah, have to agree with everything Jenna said. This place sucks and only wants numbers for their main client, CEC. I was literally rushed into this place and I was OK with it at the time because I wanted to leave my warehouse job. Basically I got an email from Matt stating that he had a job opportunity for me--I didn't even apply to CEC's job, but to another one through Staffing Now--and that he wanted to speak with me. I called him back after I read the email again and he wanted me to come in right away because the company wanted to see me right away. Apparently they were having a training session in less than two weeks. I had an interview on Monday and then he sent me to Colorado Tech in Hoffman Estates. Since the training would be starting the next Monday, Matt got back to me the next day saying I got the job. I obviously quit my job because this would pay more and gave my job a three days notice. I started training that following Monday and that would take two weeks. I will say that I absolutely loved my trainers, but I am pretty sure they are jaded by CEC. And I loved a lot of the people in my training class, but around the end of training something just didn't seem right. On the last day all of the truths came out. First, our schedules would constantly be changing every six months and we wouldn't have much say because we were on the bottom of the totem poll. Second, the job is completely sales--we need to push people no matter what "cause these people want to go to school." And the last thing that JUST KILLED ME--they had 3 more trainings set up right after our class. So I would've been able to give my job a two-weeks notice and be able to research the company more. But no, Matt completely lied to me just to get me in the door. And when you are hired, they try to change everything on you because now they can--they have got you locked in because you have either quit your job or you feel like you can't get a job anywhere else. When I quit I had to call three people--Matt, my recruiter; Marissa, my Staffing Now On-Site Manager; and Karen, my Direct Supervisor. I figured someone would call me back with questions or whatever. Hmmm, where to begin. I've noticed that other reviews of the other Staffing Now locations (in the loop, Cumberland, Buffalo Grove) are very, very similar to mine. I am not happy with my experience and I would not recommend anyone ever use this agency. First of all, what they don't tell you, is they only staff for Career Education Corporation (or at least that's all it seems they do - I've never heard of anyone getting another job from them that isn't with CEC). The Staffing Now office is professional enough - it kind of looks like any other agency I've visited. However, I noticed right off the bat that the recruiters were highly unprofessional and didn't seem to really care about any client's qualifications. I found out later that Staffing Now doesn't really do any analysis of their clients - they send almost everybody to interview at CEC schools for jobs. Here's where the experience turned terrible: Staffing Now lies to you to get you in to CEC interviews. I mean actual, literal lies. If Staffing Now told you that a job with CEC would be a mind-numbing, soul stealing sales job, you would never take it. So they tell you every lie possible to make sure you think the positions with the universities (especially Admissions Advisor) are NOT at all sales related. LIES. I was pretty desperate for a job, so I interviewed with American InterContinental University Online anyway. I really had no choice and the pay was pretty good. Well, it turns out the pay is nice because people hate themselves when they start doing this job. To be perfectly honest, I hated the AIU Admissions Advisor job so much I quit before training was over. I could not handle guilting gullible idiots into a shitty, $50,000 education that they don't need from a shitty, no-name online university. The nightmare with Staffing Now continued once I got to the site at Cumberland. The staffing now HR representative who worked at that site full time was a total rude jerk. She clearly hated her job so she took it out on every one of the new hires on a daily basis. She wouldn't talk to anyone and pretended like anything that we needed to talk to her about was unimportant and irritating for her. However, the way Staffing Now's contract works with AIU is the Staffing Now HR rep is in charge of us while we're on site for the first 90 days. So our problems are your problems, idiot. She refused to do her job and she was just as unprofessional as the people who worked at the office in Schaumburg. I'm not really surprised since it seems like this place only hires unprofessional people. This staffing agency seems like a giant scam that I wouldn't want to have anything to do with if I were you. They only do staffing for CEC schools (primarily AIU) and the turnover at this job is so high no one ever really cares about what you're doing. Staffing Now extends no help to its clients when they need something on site and they just figure you'll quit if you don't like it and they'll replace you with someone else. I get that staffing agencies can't do everything, but if they're going to be the ones paying us to do their work, they need to extend a bit more customer service to help us when we need it. I had a great experience with Staffing Now. After a phone interview I was brought in for a meeting and paperwork and had an interview lined up right away. Eventually my temporary position turned into a full time position, I ended up staying there for 4 years. My Staffing Now recruiter followed up with me periodically to make sure I was happy with where I was at. He was always so friendly and I even got friends of mine to work with them when they were having trouble finding work. This agency worked out wonderfully for me! read more

I had a recent "Interview" with Staffing Now in Schaumburg, I have to agree with Donna and Jenna, the staff there were very unprofessional. The recruiter that contacted me "Kristy" gave me no information about the job during our call and refused to provide anymore until the walk in interview with them. That should have had my warning flags up but I decided to try anyways. So I go to their Schaumburg branch and was immediately ordered to fill out W4's and benefits packages along with a credit check. I was floored, I didn't come there to sign on with them immediately I didn't even know the specifics of the job!! So the Manager comes over after I politely inquire about these forms and he proceeds to finally give me details about the position. After he had read from the job description I discovered the job itself was for an IT tech whereas my resume clearly states that I was a program manager! Afterwards he begins to harangue me about how filling out these forms before knowing anything about the position is industry standard. I'm no staffing professional but how incredulous is that? After I tried to relay to him my concerns he continues to become flustered and angry with me. At no point in the conversation was I anything other than polite and professional he however was anything but. I could hardly contain my disbelief! He ended it by saying how I was "defiant" from the moment I stepped through the door...really? Why on earth would I sign a W4 etc right off the bat when I don't even know if I'm a good fit for the company?! I guess they really don't care who they place into their positions as long as some of the square blocks fit into the square holes right. In short keep a wide berth. If anything they have only become worse, there are tons more professional and courteous firms out there who will help your search and give you Job description information beforehand but Staffing Now and SNI company in Schaumburg is not one of them. read more

Same company, but interviewed in Buffalo Grove. Thought I'd share. Got a call from a kid who sounded like he was fresh out of college. Typical staffing service script. Didn't give any information about the jobs he was staffing for, just insisted I schedule an interview. So the week after, I arrive at their office 15 minutes early to do paperwork. Big waste of time. Twenty something pages of nonsense, the majority of which was already on my resume. Finished that up, and waited another 40 minutes past our scheduled time. Alas, the person I scheduled with blew off the meeting. Very professional. So I ended up speaking with the Managing Director, Nichole Lateno. Sadly, she was completely inept. It was the first time she had seen my resume, and it looked like one she had pulled off CareerBuilder from years ago. She started off demeaning my education (currently finishing a M.Sc. in Psychology). She didn't know anything about the field, but decided to lecture me on it anyways. Thanks. I tried to explain that I wasn't a clinical psychologist; rather, I do basic experimental research and publish in journals. As a consequence, my skill set primarily reflects coordination of large research projects, data analysis, and the like. She didn't have a clue what I was talking about, so she continued to question what a degree in psychology was good for. Eventually, I asked her how she thought my skills would transfer to any of the positions she was staffing for. She replied that she wouldn't staff me, because I have spent the last year doing an independent research project and writing a thesis. This apparently doesn't qualify as skillful employment. Sounds like someone didn't go to college, amiright? So I told her that during that time I had worked occasionally with temp services on short contract positions. She requested that I list all of my temp jobs for the last two years. Sadly, she was upset that I couldn't remember many. After all, temp services are a dime a dozen. She said she remembers every job she's ever had. I congratulated her, and asked for dates of employment on her last temp job. She then yelled, "I'm doing the interview." I felt there was a certain tension in the air. So I tried to explain, once again, that over the past year I had been keeping myself busy with research. Moreover, I reminded her that I have been actively searching for jobs, and that currently there is a "jobs shortage" in the US. As a consequence, it's not especially rare to see people with long stints of unemployment trying to enter the workforce. And in these instances, they are generally willing to take low paying entry-level positions to compensate for a lack of recent work experience. Immediately thereafter, said screamed, "This interview is over." Oddly enough however, she look surprised when I stood up to collect my things and leave. Admittedly while doing so, I gave her a piece of my mind; specifically that I didn't very much appreciate my time and patience being wasted over a $10/hr temp job. We still haven't gotten to the best part yet. Literally as I'm walking out the door, she screams, "No wonder you're unemployed." I couldn't believe how lucky she was; specifically that she said this to a nice person, and not someone who would immediately turn around and cold-clock her. read more

Maybe things have changed since 2009, but I didn't have a bad experience at all. I had been looking for a job for about a month and received a call from Rachel. She had seen my resume online and thought I would be a good fit for a position she had open. I came in and had a face-to-face interview with her and filled out some paperwork. I immediately had an interview at the company, heard back from Rachel a few times (every other staffing place I worked with hardly ever followed-up) and was notified that I had been offered the position. I worked under Staffing Now for 3 months with no issues, and was hired on by the company and have been there ever since. Rachel is great, along with the rest of the staff I encountered. I would recommend them if you are looking for a job. read more

Wow, after reading these comments, I think I best step in. I was hired through Staffing Now in '07 and have been working as a regular employee for CEC three months later. I love my job and I didn't feel as if I was lied to at all. If you tried to sell people an education, then no wonder you didn't do well and I'm glad to see that you are not working here; you'll give the school a bad name like that. I enroll people who really want to get an accredited degree. Prospective students were looking at you to guide them into changing their lives; rather it was AIU or another school. Of course you hope they chose us, but sometimes they don't, maybe we just didn't have the program they wanted and the speed of our program may not have fit what they were looking for. Regardless, a no name degree, oh my, what an insult! AIU is very well known across the country and in London, but more so in the areas where we have campuses located. You just didn't have the passion in order to get the job done, so its no need to bad mouth a job when you never gave yourself a chance out of training. You have to really care about people, and they are not idiots, they are everyday people who missed the opportunity when they were younger to earn their degree. And if you don't have heart and compassion, well...no wonder you walked out. Staffing Now has brought us a lot of good advisors to get the job done, sometimes they mess up, like they did when they hired you. You have no passion to want to help others succeed. Hopefully, we don't see many of your kind coming on board. This is a fabulous university to work for, and Staffing Now is awesome! read more

I don't live in IL, but worked for a CEC school for 5 years and yes, admissions is sales and it's nothing but lies. One year the admissions department at the school I worked had a 117% turnover rate. I've seen people walk out on their first day...and all of their schools are crappy...it's just sad. read more
