They is a lot of buses which go from here, including to Manchester, Southport, Bolton and The Trafford Center, but I can't help but feel most of the buses are unneeded and go too far, for example Manchester is only around half an hour on the train, but getting the bus here is 85 minutes and when Southport is also around 1/2 an hour on the train, but still the bus takes nearly 2 hours which is ridiculous, considering services available from Wigan Wallgate. I think it is misleading for people who may not know the area for buses to take so long, when the train takes only a fraction of this, and going on one of these journeys is in a way a punishment, and I'm sure it wouldn't be much cheaper (if anything) than getting the train. I feel to get the best of public transport, the station should work with Wallgate and North Western to encourage people to use the train for longer journeys, and then this station can become a local hub, with more buses going to local destinations which will help benefit Wigan and local towns, and give people a better deal. As a station this is merely average and is your typical bus station, with a newsagents etc, it isn't terrible as it is good to have in central Wigan but sadly I don't feel it deserves over 2 stars.

Then provide juice boxes and chocolate to our 3 boys. His van was very clean inside & out and he also provide complimentary water. On top of that Geoff is witty and very nice to talk to. We will definitely use him again and recommend him to all of our friends and family. Thanks Geoff!! Cheers Dante and Christina Morabe

-Doesn't even deserve 1star- I have never left a bad review…read morefor anyone or any business before but after the service we received I feel obliged to warn everyone else so they don't go through the same, as the service we received and the way we was spoken to was disgusting! What a shocking service!! Starting from the minute we was picked up! We were a party of 7, one being only 2years old and myself being 28weeks pregnant. On enquiring via fb I had asked to be picked up at 3.30pmish from Manchester as we was expected to land at 2.55pm so that gave us enough time to get cases.. So to start we was rushed on the minibus minutes before the time we had asked to be picked up at(3am) to be told we had to hurry up as he had another run after us and he needed to be back in Ashton for 4am after dropping us off at Manchester airport! When dropping us off he told us when he picks us up we would have to be quick as he had another run booked straight after! We explained we would be as quick as we can but obviously we can't control any delays etc. Before we left the minibus I was asked to fill in a card that said the arrival time and flight number and two contact numbers, on which we filled in accurately and gave him. On return, when we was at Corfu airport around 1.30ish (11.30ish in English time) we got a text from him saying he would only be there for 4.30/4.40 as we had given him the wrong time and to grab a coffee and wait! Although we didn't. We landed at Manchester at 3.25ish as we had approx half an hour of delays (obviously out of our control completely) after getting our cases we was waiting to go at 4. After numerous phone calls of him ringing telling us he would be here at 4.30 and how there's loads of traffic he finally arrived at 4.45 and rang us to ask where we was as we weren't outside, of which we said we had waited inside because it was cold but we was only by the doors so would come out. When we came out he went on to tell us how we had told him the wrong time and how it's the busiest day of the year and that he had to rearrange customers for us, of which we argued back that we hadn't! He then threatened many of times to not take us home because he didn't like us arguing that it's him that's in the wrong and we had already paid for his service and he was late. I then asked to see the card I had written out- which he showed me his diary that had 3.30 written in and then crossed out for 2.55, and refused to show the card as he said "it doesn't matter what's written on the card" we also said we had given flight numbers which he's meant to check for delays that would tell him the exact time of arrival- his answer to that was his day doesn't revolve around us! And then he had the cheek to say that when he dropped us off at the airport he had told us about him being booked back to back and apparently we had said we will get a taxi from elsewhere if there's any problems! As anyone can guess, that's a load of rubbish, we was going on holiday for 2weeks there was no way we was going to be messing around booking another taxi after paying for a return with himself Also at one point he told us all to get out, which I then said "so now your going to leave a family with a 3year old and a pregnant lady stranded?" He then let us stay in and realised it was a ridiculous comment to make! (Anyway- we eventually got home!) Horrendous service and he's a very rude and arrogant man, we will never be using him again and strongly advice anyone else not to use!

Diamond North West are the new kids on the block on the Bolton bus scene after the purchase of…read moreFirst Manchester's Bolton depot - meaning they now cover services running from Bolton as well as their existing base in Atherton/Wigan - they are owned by Rotala who also run bus services in other parts of the country and are based in Birmingham, however, Diamond North West's communication is based around Atherton. They have taken over multiple routes now serving the city centre including the 163 from Bury to Manchester Piccadilly via Middleton, the 8 services from Manchester to Bolton via Spinningfields and Bolton as well as many other services connecting Manchester and Bolton and the X39. One thing which impressed me is how they've set out to have brand new buses which just aren't converted buses from their predecessor on their new routes from day one - the new buses are multiple tones of blue with 2019 registration plates and from the outside do look pretty good. While they are still running some of the old First buses rebranded with their logo stickers over First - it still is a slow process which could take a while as they have a large number of buses to either completely re-design or replace - this is compared to GO North West who taken over First Manchester's depot based in Cheetham Hill who spent a while introducing some of the newly branded buses and those are still converted First buses and not brand new. As well as looking good from the outside, the new buses look pretty decent from the inside with USB sockets everywhere however especially on the 19 models they've really missed a chance to improve technology on the bus for people with disabilities. 1. Why not announce bus stops like London which can help tourists or people who struggle with sight 2. The wheelchair designated space is not big enough to support a wheelchair as it is split into two areas, the other designed for a buggy, this green pole gets in the way meaning the wheelchair has to turn to block part of the aisle into an illegal position. The ramp to get onto the bus remains manual. Services are starting to run more on time which is good but to be fair even a tortoise could beat First and there are still improvements which need to be done on that front with some services still running late or not turning up at all, which isn't a good impression to be starting off with - this does mean however sometimes having to wait at stops if they are running early to make the difference two minutes or less - it is annoying especially when the driver doesn't announce anything which causes confusion but still running on time is pretty fair for everyone. Drivers again are mixed, some coming from the company existing based in Atherton, some being brand new or coming over from First - On most occasions, I've found the bus drivers to be rude and ignorant -one of them even overcharged me costing £4.40 for a single journey: 1. In London, this would have been £1.50 or £4.50 for a whole day of bus travel or £7 for zones 1 and 2 if you want to combine the tube and DLR - which shows the expense 2. I could have got a "night" ticket for the same price, rather than charging this for a whole journey, which was just £0.40 less than a day ticket to use any service from First, Diamond or GNW in Manchester - there was also a ticket much cheaper for £3.80 - it seems unless you know prices beforehand drivers love to overcharge you with Diamond. Is Diamond an improvement on First? Yes. Overall - other than two major issues for disabled people and ticketing they are pretty solid. 3*

This route is also known as Cheshire Cats. I do wish they had a feature which many other bus companies do now, to track your bus, an overhaul of their current app would be a major improvement which mainly just offers tickets, and "service updates", I wouldn't have even known about the app if it wasn't from hearing about it from a friend in Warrington, as the name of the app doesn't actually feature the bus company's name, it is just "Touch and Go" with the Warrington Own Buses brand appearing in the developer list, and the logo as the app's thumbnail on Apple's App Store Head Office seemed to take my feedback regarding an abusive driver with a professional response, where they promised to deal with it. 3* - Pretty average bus company, if they could improve many of their other routes to meet the standards on the Cheshire Cats, this would be super!
