As such, it gets more than a little amount of traffic. I was here to visit the final resting place of one of the more famous sons of Hertford, James "Catfish" Hunter. He was a Hall of Fame Major League Baseball Player who played for the Kansas City (later Oakland) Athletics and the New York Yankees. He won 21 games 5 times, was an 8-time American League All-Star, and won the 1974 American League Cy Young Award. He died from ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987. It's hard to miss his headstone as it is quite literally a baseball and is visible from the road. The Parlor is tastefully arranged and the staff, fantastic. Every need was met and assistance provided every step of the way. They made a very sad occasion much easier for the family and the friends who attended from all over the country.
