Small building, good parking & easy access to/from- a ramp for those who need it as well. The lobby is very nice with a TV to occupy your stay. It's clean, well decorated & the chairs are comfortable for a waiting room. All staff members were very pleasant, and all smiled!! When they too my patient back they said OK to walk to Chick-fil-A for a coffee... that's as far as they will allow should they need me at any point during the procedure- keep your phone on! My patient said everyone was calm, they laughed & the procedure was an interesting process. Not scary!!! We go back in 2 weeks for the other eye.

However, everything billing-related has made this experience the absolute worst experience. This may come off harsh, but the fact is Milan Eye Center is incompetent when it comes to billing, and they refuse to take any responsibility. They hire a 3rd party billing company overseas, so every time you call their office to discuss anything "billing-related," you are automatically transferred to their overseas contracted billing partner. Why in the world would you hire such an incompetent company to handle all your billing? This is a multimillion-dollar eyecare practice. We knew this surgery would happen, and switched insurance plans as the new plan had a specific flat in-network $1,000 copay for each eye for Cataract Surgery. The total surgery should have cost $2,000, plus the additional co-payments for other doctor visits/eval pre- and post-surgery. Guess what? Milan Eye Center never billed UHC. At the last moment, we were forced into taking out a $5,000 loan from CareCredit to pay for the Cataract Surgery. To make matters worse, after the surgery, Milan Eye Center billing third party started sending bills for $3,900 for the same surgery. ; First of all. Milan Eye Center will NOT perform any surgery until the costs are all paid off in full, meaning you cannot enter the surgery room, hence why we had to take out the $5,000 loan. So a surgery that should have cost $2,000 with insurance ended up costing $5,000 + now they want another $3,900. Cataract Surgery is not $8,900, including insurance; the total to them should be $10,900? After the surgery, we spoke with the insurance. Milan Eye Center never filed it through them, even though they are in-network. After a year, we finally paid off the $5,000 loan we should have never had to taken out... and now they still want $3,900... The back office is consistently incompetent with insurance. You'll wait months for an appointment, then wait over an hour in the waiting room, only to be told your insurance is denied because they didn't file the paperwork. They will outright tell you they did, but when you call your insurance (Aetna), you'll find either nothing was ever submitted or you received a denial because they refused to fill out the form required by state regulations and their in-network contracting agreement. Then they blame you for it. But the absolute worst part was my interaction with Dr. Walia. After a year of this, I finally brought them proof that their office had used the wrong form--for the second time. Instead of apologizing, Dr. Walia took me into a side room and completely unloaded on me. He was condescending, yelled, and treated me like a child for daring to point out their mistake. It was a total Jekyll and Hyde moment from his usual calm demeanor and was honestly shocking. And guess what? After his tantrum, they suddenly "found" the form, submitted it correctly, and everything was approved immediately. Proving the problem was them all along. The cycle just repeated at my last appointment. They tried to turn me away again stating a claim denial. When I politely asked to step to the side while I verified the situation, the staff used strong language suggesting that I was unwelcome. Upon returning home, I find that once again, they failed to use the correct form. Now I want you to let it sink in that this was a RETURN visit for a previous turn-away several weeks prior where they claimed they could not secure any of my medication for "free". It turns out I had coverage during this ENTIRE period they were giving me this line about doing me a favor because my insurance wouldn't this or that. It's shocking how you trust, and follow the narrative of the people handling their duties, implicitly, only to find out reality is totally unrelated. Why even do this? How does this even happen? Save yourself the stress. The administrative runaround is bad enough, but being verbally abused by the doctor for holding them accountable is something no patient should ever experience. I wouldn't trust them with my care, or with handling a simple insurance form.

I had my Lasik Surgery in the original building in 2007 performed by Dr Richard Carlin (love him). Any way my friend was having cataract surgery performed by Dr Willman. Even though the building is older it is SPOTLESSLY CLEAN! Very well maintained with an excellent staff. From check in until they wheeled him out it ran like a well oiled machine on how well they performed their duties. His Surgery was scheduled for 2:00 pm with check in at 1:00 pm. We arrived at 1:03 because Hwy 78 is always busy no matter what time. Check in took about 15/20 minutes going over the paperwork and paying. He sat down down beside me gave me the paperwork and bam the nurse was at the door calling his name. She took him back for prep (IV & dilation of his left eye) 15 minutes later she came and got me so I could sit with him while his eye dilated for 15 minutes more (the Dr came in before I got back there). At 1: 53 the nurse took him back and showed me the waiting area with snacks and a Keureg coffee machine. I made a coffee went to the restroom came back to drink my coffee and the nurse came out saying he did great! I pulled my car to the awning area and 5 minutes later she wheeled him out. It was at max 90 minutes from beginning to end. I'm scheduling mine for August! He felt great... took him home fed him and in the bed he went. Tomorrow his follow up is at 11:00 am where they will remove the protective patch and he starts eye drops for 2 weeks. But he can drive and go about his life except no bending at the waist to pick up anything and nothing over 10lbs. He has another follow up in 10 days. The worst thing is no movies at the theater until after that follow up. He highly recommends Dr Willman and CarlinVision Surgery Center!

Our insurance is handled perfectly and we always know exactly how much we'll need to pay. Questions are answered thoroughly. Dr. Forster is hilarious but more importantly we are never kept waiting. I checked with the board of Optometry they said she can not refuse to wait on me. She said she has wasted 20 hours over 2 years adjusting my glasses. That's 10 hours a year 1.6 minutes a day less then 30 minutes a month. Customer service is part of an Optician's job. She said she does not have the patience to deal with me. They call you back. Hasn't happened yet. The customer service is terrible. They should be ashamed of the way they treat people. I don't recommend them.
