I went here…read moreto go for a run, and there's plenty of open space in the Baylands Nature Preserve, some trails throughout, stretching into the marshlands, but I spent most of my time running laps around the pond (one lap is a quarter mile at most). Even though there are no ducks, there are several other birds that can be found, not only waterbirds (see my pics). The best thing I saw was a family of geese hidden in the grass as I was running along the dirt/rock pathway around the pond. Two adult and two baby geese, chomping on grass, and making their way to the trail toward the pond. I took photos of them as they waddled away, it was soo cute and made my day :D The entire setting is just beautiful and peaceful, even with the planes flying in and out of the Palo Alto Airport adjacent to the duck pond (the busiest single runway airport in CA). They're actually pretty quiet, and such small cute planes. So it adds to the charm of this place. I found plenty of benches bordering the pond and along the trails, as well as picnic tables hidden behind the trees surrounding the pond, and a cute little picnic area next to the Baylands Ranger Station, too. I didn't see a public restroom, but I did see one single porta potty next to the pond, so plan accordingly. There are several small parking lots, so if one is full, keep driving and you'll easily find another, you can't miss it. But this place is pretty isolated, and it doesn't seem to get super crowded.. I can't imagine parking being a problem. Great place to be surrounded by nature, but still so simple, not too much to take in, and easy to get to, right off the 101 freeway (though you'll feel like you're far away from civilization).

The park is quite expansive, featuring many flat areas and opportunities to spot wildlife. Although there is plenty of parking available in different sections of the park, finding a spot might be challenging during busy times. This park is a good place if you want be in quite place , me time and enjoy nature. You can also drive around the park to explore its different sections. I plan to visit again in the morning, bring lunch, and walk around to fully enjoy all the areas this park has to offer.

No more mentally disturbed/homeless people on site. It's surprisingly busy on the weekends, especially back-to-school season. I love how they have a quiet area with a fireplace, cushy seats, and sunshine shining through the windows facing the park. No talking in this area. The children and teens' section is conveniently located downstairs, which is an ideal location since they tend to talk loudly. Study/meeting rooms are spacious upstairs, but must be reserved ahead of time. Also, the restrooms are clean on both floors. Love the sculpture near the entrance. I can't believe it took me ages to discover this library after walking around Downtown Mountain View for the past two years. There's a parking garage available on the side of the library including street parking. Nice to walk around after dining in nearby restaurants and worth coming back to chill and read.

This is Toad's book club. Located behind the Mountain View Public Library this collection brings a childhood story to life. "Toad's Book Club" illustrates Wind and the Willows characters doing what is at the heart of their lives - reading. The sculptures include some classic works such as Of Mice and Badgers, Tail of Two Cities and Red Badger of Courage. The sculptor is Albert Guibara sculptures are almost always in bronze and have achieved international attention which I can see why as they are cute and imaginative. Makes me feel like a kid again. Yes I believe this is a great place to be a tourist to see what this city and California has to offer. Great for locals and out of towner to enjoy. :)

The books were generally in good condition! There are restrooms and a quiet room here. There is a nice selection of DVDs to borrow here as well. There are a lot of parking garages and lots in the downtown Palo Alto area if you can't find parking immediately by the library.

And they even have a nice Cafe out in front of the library in the courtyard. I really don't know what took me so long to make a visit at this Branch. Besides the held item, it's just a pleasant place to visit. I 100% recommended Atherton Public Library! And I don't know why there would be anything less than five stars.

Running along the wide gravel pathways on a Wednesday afternoon was invigorating, and the endless…read moreviews of nature therapeutic. A great opportunity for birdwatching too. I encountered many species, including geese grazing in the grassy fields and adorable ducks floating in the water. To add to the beautiful and serene setting, visitors can find art in the park as well (wind wave, pole fields, and chevrons), nothing too fancy but interesting enough, especially walking among the artworks and reading about them on the information boards posted along the trail. The small parking lot near Byxbee Park was full, but I had no problem finding street parking down the road on Embarcadero. There was also a public restroom available for convenience. Certainly a great place to get your steps in while appreciating the lovely scenery.
