When my 3 day old newborn daughter wouldn't eat and wouldn't stop screaming all day and night the physician at Palmetto Pediatrics said it was an "ear infection." I was very, very skeptical!!! How the heck does a NEWBORN BABY, THREE DAYS OLD (AND BORN AT HOME WITH A MIDWIFE) get an ear infection?? Simple, she doesn't. She didn't have an infection. My daughter was simply needing to be adjusted from her 20 hour labor. Upon hearing this info from the pediatrician and that my baby wouldn't stop screaming despite feeding and changing diaper etc, my friend told me to take her to Tonine and I did. Even though I was very nervous Tonine eased my fears and adjusted my 3 day old newborn. My baby stopped screaming and began to nurse with regularity. I took my baby to the pediatrician at 10 days old and they checked her ears and said "the ear infection is all better!! Guess those antibiotics worked." YET....I didn't give my baby the antibiotics the ped prescribed. I got her adjusted instead. And the chiropractic adjustment fixed my baby's ears/pain/discomfort and we went on to have regular check ups with Tonine with no more screaming 24/7. She was rarely adjusted again until she was an active toddler who was jumping and climbing over things. Tonine has adjusted my neck and my lower hips when needed. I had excruciating sciatica pain in my hip with both my pregnancies and Tonine Gelardi fixed it every time. When we were suffering financially in 2007 she continued to give us care. We love our chiropractor Dr. Gelardi and she has always helped us. I recommend her to everyone.

I experienced some relief, but I continued to get sicker as the months progressed. Dr. Tonine is very kind and I do believe that she is doing what she thinks is best for her patients. However, I disagree with her philosophy of chiropractic that believes adjusting one part of the spine will allow for the rest of the spine to go back into place (she also charges you the full amount even if she DOES NOTHING. My stomach dropped the first time she felt my neck, said she wouldn't adjust me, and charged me $50). After 8 months under her care, I started going to Maximized Living. They did x-rays of my neck and spine and they were both in terrible shape (after EIGHT months of going to Dr. Gelardi). After 3 months consistently going to Capital City Chiropractic, x-rays were done again and both my neck and spine had drastically improved, and I was finally getting lasting relief from my symptoms. I'm not trying to bash Dr. Gelardi. She is very kind--very calm and gentle--but I would not recommend going to her. I was physically barely functioning before I started going to Capital City. I, personally, wasted a LOT of money going to Dr. Gelardi. I'm sure she has helped some people, but I would definitely recommend checking out Capital City instead.

Nothing about money was mentioned at all, I got a treatment and a xray taken, and was told to come back today. I came today and the xray was explained to me, I got another treatment done and told that my plan to get my problem resolved will be 21 visits at $2,145.00 my insurance will pay $605 out of that, which leaves me paying $1,540. When i explained that i couldn't afford that right now, I was hit with a $250 charge for the 2 visits. Going through tough times and getting ripped off like this shocked me. Other chiropractors in the area have plans ranging between $20 & $40 per visit. Unless you have money to spend I would not recommend going here. They were also raffeling off a grill, and one of the ways to enter is by leaving a google 5 star review. I'm guessing that's how they get so many good reviews. After calling me and emailing me trying to convince me to take my reviews down from here and other places I posted, they claimed that the will send me a partial refund of a few dollars, when I refused to promise to remove the reviews they got really upset, and of course never refunded anything.
