The sales guy said that he had to charge 2x as much as normal because there was grout left on my tile along the walls. I agreed to the 2x charge which was over $1000. They didn't remove the grout and also they ripped the paint off of my baseboards. I complained and they sent a manager out to assess the work. He said that they couldn't remove the grout. I asked for to be refunded 1/2 of the 2x because they failed. They will not refund me half. I was lied to and basically robbed. Would love to post some pictures. read more

We had our carpet, rugs, tile and grout cleaned about two months ago. While the technicians did a good job on the cleaning, they scratched our wood step with their hoses while cleaning the other carpeted stairs. I have contacted this company several times after filing an initial claim, and have gotten no action taken to rectify this situation. Thank you for your suggestions, but unfortunately it did not work out. I will never again hire Stanley Steamer. My husband and I contacted Stanley Steamer based on your suggestions. Ronald was sent out to take a look. Looking at the first spot I pointed out, we were told that it could not be cleaned. That it was a stain. We moved through the kitchen, dining area and master bathroom (which stayed the dirtiest) and were told none of the tile could be cleaned more than it was. Ronald suggested we asked for a refund because the technicians that came out did not check and explain that the stains could not be cleaned. For context, our house and tile are about 7 years old. We called Stanley Steamer after he left and ended up making an appointment with Javier (the manager for the area) to take another look. In the meantime, I wanted to know if one of the "stains" that was pointed out was really not cleanable. I cleaned it in seconds. Javier came out and looked at our tile floors and told us they could be cleaned. The statement included cleaning around the toilets and a pedestal sink that did not get cleaned at all. He made another appointment for us and promised to reimburse half of the $500.00 we paid within days. Another crew came out. The floors were cleaned and I was asked to take a look. Lots of stains and dirt was still there. The areas around the toilets and pedestal were also still dirty. I pointed it out and a technician re-cleaned it. When the crew was done, we were asked to look again. It did look a bit better. The grout was still very wet and it was hard to tell how it would turn out. I pointed out some dark spots and the technician told us those could not be cleaned. The crew left. Not really believing that the dark spots could not be cleaned, I took my Swiffer Wet Jet and mopped them away with ease. The floors dried and the dirt showed again including around the toilets and pedestal sink. I was done and fed up after four visits from Stanley Steamer so I spend the next 3 hours cleaning as much as I could leaving the floors much cleaner but the grout still dirty, but this is not the end of the story. The reimbursement of about $250.00 did not post as promised on our credit card. We waited and called several times before getting hold of someone that would speak to us about the matter. Javier (making promises previously) never spoke to us again. When we did not stop trying, he told one of the employees that he did not agree to $250.00 but to $150.00 which we also not received at this point. Thanks Stanley Steamer. The team did come back to clean and got up a couple of the big stains that were missed. Don't pay for the deodorizer. If you need it, it doesn't work, and if you don't well then you just don't. They put down even more deodorizer, and there is still a funny smell from the stuff that they put down on the floors. It's suppose to have live enzymes in it and take 3 days to work... whatever... I called back to speak the management and they have yet to call me back to discuss possible solutions, alternatives, or next actions. I was told that I would be contacted within 48 hours... surprise surprise, its over 48 hours and no one has contacted me. read more

This review is for Roman Diaz and Jonathan Garcia. After calling around I decided to use Stanley Steemer to have my carpets and tile/grout cleaned.. they appeared to offer the best price options for performance. My carpets had darkened from normal traffic. I tried using a portable carpet cleaner myself.. it only helped a little and you could definitely still see the areas that were walked on most. As far as my tile, I was unable to remove the dirt from the grout and it was looking black and dirty despite the fact that I clean it often. I just wasn't able to get everything up myself. I live on the second floor in an apartment which made it quite a challenge for Roman and Jonathan to find away to get the hose from their truck to my apartment, but with a lot of determination and hard work they were able to make it happen, it was an adventure. Putting forth this effort saved me money and allowed for them to clean my place more thoroughly, otherwise they would have had to use a portable cleaner which isn't as effective and is more costly to me. I am very impressed with the job they did, my carpet and tile almost look new again.... you can no longer see the stains from the high traffic areas and the grout is no longer black between the tile. Roman and Jonathan were very polite, friendly, and worked hard to do the best job they could. They asked me if I was satisfied with the results and happily filled my requests. They were great! I love using Stanley Steemer for my carpets! They're super friendly, on time, and always get my carpets very clean. My carpets are a challenge too - white in a house with kids and a large indoor chocolate lab. I love being able to use their online system for quotes and schedules, too. All the furniture that can be moved is and protective feet are put under things that could stain. The only think I don't like is the "hidden coupon." They never seem to be listed on the website but I find them in the paper or magazines. I'd like to see the offers in the coupon section of the website as well. read more

Hired Stanley to clean a, 8x10 white shag area rug and some mustard colored chaise lounge and ottoman. The rug was grayed around the edges from being walked on. The mustard upholstery was dulled and slightly darkened in places from where people commonly sit. The staff was very friendly (reason for two stars). Unfortunately, the cleaning was less than satisfactory. The only item that ended up looking clean was the ottoman. The others looked exactly the same as they did before the service but soaking wet so had to let them dry before bringing them back inside my home. Basically, house was a total disaster all day for no good reason. Super bummed. read more

They came out today to clean and deodorize the carpets. They were super quick and effective. Although, I didn't realize that the deodorization product was so smelly. I had to leave the house for a bit while it dissipated (and running a fan helped). It was a powerful perfume smell, but if it's effective, I don't care what it smells like! Their employees are very good at upselling you and suggesting additional services on the job. I went over my expected budget by 100.00 because I kept saying, "oh that sounds like a good idea." I just paid Stanley Steamer, (SS) $107.00 to come and wet two of my floors. I typically call SS at least twice a year and have never had a problem with tipping them for doing a good job. When I told the young man that my floor did not look good at all, he made all kinds of excuses and finally with a bit of an attitude, he went over one to two spots. I am going to have to go to H.E.B and rent a cleaner to clean my carpet. read more

Stanley Steemer was a huge disappointment. I called the cleaning company to come and clean two rooms for me. They provided a four hour window in which they would show up. They did contact me in that window time but showed up 30 minutes after the window which made them finish the job at least an hour after they were supposed to. They left my house so messy. Leaking parts from their equipment, hitting white walls and making scuff marks and to add insult to injury they did not get out the stain that I was hoping that they could get out. I asked them if there was anything else that could be done for the stain and they said "if we can't get it out there's no way it's coming out" . I looked up a DIY video on YouTube and got it out. It cost me $2.65 on my own. Stanley charged me $110. I called to complain and a month after the fact instead of having the manager call me the next day like they said they would I get a $25 gift card. Well let me tell y'all about this company. It should a negative star to choose from. I scheduled a appointment last week for Thursday 7/26. Close to the time of appointment I received a called from the technician informing me he was in route but he was detoured for some reason and he had to cancel the appointment. I stated that is was very important to get my sister carpet cleaned due to death of husband and guest was arriving on Friday for the services. The guy called someone and assured and confirmed that they can come Friday, between 11-1. Well after 3 phone call and talking to 3 incompetent people, I received 3 different answer from 3 different idiots. The 3rd and final called which was close to 2pm I said forget it (well I used a more harsh word). I would never ever use this company and suggest you all from using them also. I never received an apology a phone call or email. This type of behavior is unacceptable. I sit here and ponder over my experience with this company and wonder where can you find a company that really cares about there customers and who have compassion and really cares about giving awesome customer service. Really bad experience with these guys and I am really disappointed. I thought I was getting the best as they advertise so much and seem to be a larger company- I got the worst. I would very much recommend everyone to avoid them. I ordered the cleaning of an area rug online and the quickly called me back to confirm they would be out shortly. That was the only thing that went right. The service tech calls me to get directions into my building and then mentions the portable unit is broken- which I indicated I would need as I'm in a building where they can't have their truck nearby to my unit. I'm thinking OK how is this going to work out? They come to my place and again tell me the unit is broken and that they will need to take the rug in for cleaning. They give me a price that is 70-80 dollars more than I originally agreed to. So in addition to not having service that day they want to charge me extra? Seriously guys? So of course I say no- and ask that they escalate to their manager to get the fee waived- their broken machine was not my problem and I would have cancelled service. After what seemed to be 10 minutes he came back and said OK we will waive the fee. I ask how long this is going to take and at the end of the conversation he says next Monday. Next Monday at the end of the day no one calls. I call in to check. They do not have my rug in their system and have no clue where it is. What do you even say to that? So after pushing them to escalate someone finally says yes we have it- it will be 2 WEEKS to get it back to you. Unreal! So I have been sitting with my living room torn up for 2 weeks waiting. Finally today they come back out. There is a tag on the corner of the rug that identifies the rug brand and has all of the rug information. It is missing. It was on there pretty good so whatever process the rug went through had to be pretty intense. So now I am left with a rug that I consider as damaged- if I ever wanted to sell it I will not be able to prove the brand of rug. Truly amazing. Truly not worth the $180.00 I paid. Also, I got a survey from these guys after their initial visit and asked them in that survey to give me a call to discuss my initial issues- that was almost 2 weeks ago- have never heard back. I have never really used a carpet cleaning company unless they were sent out by a management company or the landlord. I believe that going with a larger well known company for somethings are worth it and in this case I couldn't have been happier. The first thing that impressed me is that they showed up on time and the guy Horacio ( I only remember cause of CSI ) was really helpful and seemed to know what he was talking about . I wanted to put some spot remover on the carpet and he advised me not to but of course I did for a second. Well what do you, he was right. The cleaner I had left spots in the carpet. Horacio and his guy cleaned my grout and carpet both came out awesome and I never realized how good the tile could look. I didn't even know you could clean the grout and now it looks new. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. They tell you one price then arrive to proceed to increase the original price by 50% stating they didn't have the correct scope of work as it was taken by the sales associate. They also do not have a backwash tanks on their trucks so they want to dump the chemical bi- product into your septic tank or tie into the city sewer line of which is not disclosed at any point of the transaction. Also there is no water on their trucks, so they steal your water without even asking to use it. These guys are pros at exploiting the consumer to save them money by not hauling off of the chemical bi-product, supplying clean water, and stating that the sales clerk made a mistake...but "it's not Stanely Steemers problem". When I spoke with Ray the manager over the phone he could care less about my concerns and offered nothing to address the situation in a professional manner, other than "we can't do the job". Oh, you mean because I won't let you dump the checmicals into my septic tank and because you're too cheap to have a tank on your truck and pay the proper disposal fees, you have to move on?....you guys are a joke. We had our wood floors and two large rugs cleaned this January - and they all look great! During the cleaning of the floors a technician mistakenly placed a sealant solution bottle on a couple surfaces and it left a "sealed residue." I only noticed the stain after they left. Everything was fine until I I signed an agreement to come out and do it again three more times. Well i gave them a check for $460 and signed a contract. Well I call them today and they came out and the man with the little computer touch screen says they don't do area rugs under contract and can't do my couch just the three rugs and no chairs. I am not impressed. I was told by a friend and later confirmed on-line that I could avoid any minimum fee by taking my area rug directly to Stanley Steemer's office. When you call, you get a office somewhere else that transfers you to the Austin branch. I was given a direct cell phone number for the manager. When I called, he suggested at first I put the rug in one of the worker's cars out front of the office. I thought this sounded very shady so requested he call me when we was in the office. I ended up[ driving the rug out there and was pleased to hear it would be a reasonable price and ready in just 2 days. I filled out an invoice and left. Over a week passed and finally called the manager directly. After he didn't return my call, I called Stanley Steemer back directly. After waiting on hold I was finally transferred to the manager who said they had been trying to contact me and had left messages. He offered to waive the fee. I was satisfied with this because of the frustration he had caused. When I showed up, it was obvious the rug had not moved from its original location and my invoice was sitting out right where i had left it with my phone number, clear and legible. The manager was very defensive and claimed the rug had been cleaned twice. This rug has not been cleaned. I feel these folks wasted my time and now have taken away any opportunity they may have had to do business with me or my family in the future. Had the same crew clean the carpets as previously. Did a good job as usual. I decided when calling for the appointment to add tile cleaning and clear sealing. The phone person said the tile would be sprayed, then the grout scrubbed, then washed then dried and the grout sealed. The first two steps of cleaning tile seemed to be skipped (I was sitting 10 feet away) but the wash/dry vacuum cleaner was run over all the tile. He then came back and put something on the grout lines. When he was finished he said I should expect the grout might appear spotty as he said the grout dries at different rates. It certainly was spotty - like polka dots. I let it go for 5 days before calling. I was sure it was not normal. After paying hundreds of dollars I couldn't find any reasonable explanation and wanted an expert to view it. I set up an appointment for two days later and told them I would be home from work about 5pm. My husband called at 4:45 to tell me they had arrived. I arrived home 10 minutes later to find their van parked in my driveway so I could not pull into my garage. They had their hoses out and stretched into the house through the open front door. No thought was given to the fact that I had two indoor only cats, just that they didn't think they'd seen a cat go by their van. Once I determined the frightened cats were safely hidden under the bed, I turned my attention to the tile grout problem. Consulting with the crew leader and he with his manager lead us to determine this was not normal and should not have happened. (Duh!) After much back and forth and my refusing to pay for removal (correction) of the clear grout sealer, they agreed to rescrub the tile and grout (properly this time) which removed the clear sealer. They did not offer to refund the $150 for the clear sealer, but did offer to add a color sealer for about $500. No thanks!! So if you want good carpet cleaning, use them. But pass on the tile cleaning and grout sealing as you'll likely be wasting your money. read more

To preface what I am about to say, I have never written a bad review of any company. I am so disappointed with Stanley Steemer. I wish I would have read more of the reviews before I hired them. My husband and I spent around $600 to have our tile floors and grout cleaned in a rent house we recently moved into. The first crew that came out was so nice and professional, but when we arrived home that evening... I was so excited to set my 8 month old down to crawl around on a clean floor. I did, and sadly she was a filthy mess. Within 5 minutes her shins and tops of her socks were black. I called Stanley Steemer to explain the situation and they kindly sent out another crew to "fix" the floors. The second go around did not work either. My 8 month old still cannot crawl around without getting dirty. The night we came home from the second cleaning was exactly the same. They have offered to come out a 3rd time with the exact same process to fix the problem, but at this point my husband and I have each had to take off half a day of work to wait for them to come and hire someone to watch our dog 2 times. I really don't want to repeat this scenario again and waste even more money. They are unwilling to rectify the situation and in my mind are unwilling to do what it takes to clean the floors which may be to get down on hands and knees with a scrub brush to clean. My husband and I took a scrub brush to the kitchen floor which was the worst of the house and were able to get both the tile and the grout very clean. I would expect a company that does this for a living would be able to do a better job than what 2 people who don't really know what they are doing. I just want my daughter to be able to crawl around in our home without getting dirty. They have the chance to keep me as a customer or lose my business entirely. I really hope I can change this review.... but after talking to 3 different people multiple times it appears that this won't be the case. read more

I've used Stanley Steemer to clean my carpets every year for about 10 years. They do an excellent job at getting the carpets looking great. HOWEVER, for the last few years crews have been increasingly doing hard sell tactics for me to buy additional services once they are in the home. Yesterday, I was pressured to buy additional services no less than a dozen times, about half of which occurred after I made clear I would not be spending any more for the service call than I was already being charged. Once example was insisting my brand new micro cotton sleeper sofa needed cleaning and that the mattress needed to be steam cleaned even though it had only been used once. I will unfortunately not be using this company again. Stop the hard sell tactics...mentioning the additional services once is enough! read more

I reciently closed on a house that was supposedly "professionally cleaned" by Stanley Steemers. The selling relator paid $400 for Stanley to clean the carpets and tile floors. When my relator and I went to do our final walk through we were shocked at how dirty the tile floors were. The carpets were ok but had been done by the homeowner within the year anyway. Before closing the selling relator requested the tile floor be redone by Stanley. I received my keys and went to my new house and Stanley was there cleaning. The same guy that did the initial work was doing the follow-up. He said he came back with some stronger stuff to clean up the floor. His partner was on his hands and knees hand scrubbing one section of floor. No idea how long they had been there but it looked a lot cleaner... at least in that spot. There was still some bad patches that needed work. When I asked if he had a buffer to run over the floor he said he didn't have that equipment in his truck. Huh? Show up to re-clean a tile floor and not have the tools for the job? He proceeded to tell me that for him to come back with the proper equipment and cleaner that he would have to charge me. He wanted over $450 to come back just to do the tile this time. No thanks. I went to Lowes myself and borrowed a retail floor cleaning machine and improved the floor a lot more than they did. Needless to say I will never recommend this company for anything. The quality off the work and the unwillingness to make it right turned me off for sure. We had Travis & Manuel clean our carpet & rugs. I scheduled this appointment online & took advantage of the 3 room special & added 2 rugs. They did a good job cleaning but when they told me what I owed I knew it wasn't right. According to Travis there was no change or alteration in my bill. Since I couldn't find my invoice, I paid them. That night I found my invoice showing they had cheated me $40.00. I have called 4 times asking to speak to a manager & even called the Corporate Office. One manager called me back asking me to scan & email my invoice (even though he had a copy of it). The email was incorrect. I am amazed, impressed, and thrilled. I have a treadmill in a carpeted office. The treadmill silicone belt lubricant had made a terrible black oily stained mess of my upstairs carpets. Imagine dumping a few quarts of used motor oil on your carpet. The amazing thing is, Brian and John from the Austin Stanley Steemer office performed a miracle! The oily black mess is gone! My carpets all look terrific! And I hired them to clean my tile floors too. They were on-time, very polite, and professional in every way. I will hire them again in the future! Had my carpets cleaned this weekend by Stanley Steamer and am very satisfied, not only by the cleaning, but by the service provided by Shawn and his partner. They were very professional, personable, and respectful. They explained everything well and offered advice/additional offerings that they could provide. Not pushy or invasive, just let me know they could take care of these items now, or at a future time. I was NOT planning on adding anything to my service but because of the customer service went ahead and purchased the spot treatment spray and a front door mat. Thank you from a satisfied customer! First I would like to say both men that came out were polite (the assistant was very polite and I would have liked to use their service due to his pleasantness). But here's the problem. I booked online, and was quoted $60 for a room, and $83 ($30 off coupon) for my sofa. It is a 2 piece L shaped, but the website did not require specifics. Once here, the cleaner in charge said that it is a sectional so it would be $189 to clean the sofa. Um... No. Then he said he wanted to work with me, so he dropped it to $129. Still no. I must say I have never had anyone come clean my carpet ever. My husband usually does it with our shampooer but I am so glad I called Stanley Steemer. Shawn and Stephen were very thorough. They did a fantastic job on our carpet, and stairs. They left the carpets smelling so clean it looks like new. They also cleaned our love seat and did an impeccable job, my sofa is microfiber material and I thought it would be damaged with the cleaners but it looks awesome and smells wonderful. They are very knowledgeable in what they do. I will call them back to do my tile. They were very nice, and not pushy on the sales.
