Ok you better know what you are getting into!! It is spring break for the 60 year olds and boy is it fun! Sunday Funday is the way to go! It starts early and ends at 630pm. There was a great band who played all the favorites so you could sing a long and watch all the drunk dancers. It is an incredibly relaxed atmosphere, picnic tables, plastic silverware and cups. The drinks are flowing and everything is outdoors. We had the blackened grouper and it was more than we could eat! The servers were amazing and very organized. They were working hard to meet the demands of a VERY LARGE crowd. It is a fun time and you will have such a good time you will buy a T-shirt to remember it forever! read more

Horribly overpriced food in an aggressively tourist-trappy atmosphere. The grouper might have been grouper, but there was so little of it it's impossible to tell. For $19, I expect more than two minuscule fillets served alongside the cheapest freezer fries available at Gordon Food Service and a small plastic dish of slaw. The drinks are almost all ice, and the service is as slow as it gets. How this place gets so many great reviews is beyond me. It was a great disappointment and we will not be back. The tiny drinking village with a fishing problem, who's population quadruples up over the weekend A down to earth celebration of sunning, people watching, eating, heavy drinking, stumbling, joking, laughing, listening to live music. People fitting In by showing off their individuality. Stan Gober is the owner who kicks off the season during the Mullet festival at the end of January. Buzzard lope queens competes for the annual honor. By costume and dance. Think of it as if fans of Jimmy Buffet. But mixed with fans from many of the northern states and Canada too. Parking is limited and after 11:00am people start parking on the side of the road. Close parking cost $10. And goes toward increasing the IQ of the children of Goodland. Warning Domestic bottles have come up an extra dollar this season. $4 But nobody seems to care because Marco island is called Mark Up island. I'll be back next weekend as the mardi gras boat parade is this next Saturday 19th @2:00pm Wait staff friendly attentive. Food was average burgers fresh off the grill. Mozzarella sticks marinara sauce seemed salty served up hot, good sized portions. People usually wear island wear Tropical print Hawaiian shirts, T-shirts, bikinis, flip-flops, and silly hats are the norm. read more

Stan's is a local, colorful tradition and should not be missed. Each Sunday, live music begins in the afternoon. Fresh seafood is here, and when you're really lucky, the grill is fired up to serve hamburgers the size of a small child's head. I had blackened shrimp in a basket. Cole slaw was sweet and delicious. Shrimp was fresh, plump and disappeared. Everyone's in a great mood. People come from all over to sit at picnic tables or under an awning, or as Stan's son says, "Upstairs. In the cheap seats." Local motorcycle clubs regard Stan's as a worthy destination, so the line of gorgeous hardware on the lawn is a show in itself. Stan died in June 2012, but by November 2012, the town fathers named the nearby bridge over Goodland waters after him. In another gesture of homage, 2015 will be the 2nd annual Stan Look Alike contest, which rivals the Hemingway contest in Key West. And of course, each January, there is the annual Mullet Festival, where in addition to good food slung by the kitchen, there will be dead mullet tossing by the patrons. The Buzzard Queen will also be named for the year at that time. She's the most entertaining person doing a sort to drunk chicken dance. It's all good fun. The ramp up to the event happens each Sunday when women are invited onstage to practice their best buzzard dance. Another Stan tradition is the performance of the Yankee Doillar song. This is friggin' brilliant. Stan wrote a funny song about it, and while it's performed, the audience is invited to write where they came from on a dollar bill and then come in front of the stage. This is a fun place reminiscent of old Florida. The food is yummy and the atmosphere is casual and fun. My friends took us here on our visit to Marco Island. They say that on some evenings and Sundays the place is so packed that you have to park far away. Apparently, it is especially popular with the motorcycle crowd. We ate lunch here and I tried to share a dish but it was pretty small for sharing. The give you a tiny container of coleslaw, with seemed more like a garnish than a side dish. I mentioned this to the waitress, and she brought a second one. The sweet potato fries are probably one of the best I've tasted. Our waitress was very polite and efficient. Other than the cole slaw and the small portion, the only other complaint is that the bathrooms were cramped and old. There was a band setting up as we left, and the place has some fun themed events. All in all, we had a great time here and enjoyed our meal, we would certainly come again. Beware though, the place closes down when it's not in season according to my friends. read more

A great place with a great atmosphere. You sit out on picnic like tables near a free stage. There's a gift shop on site with a great selection and a boat dock. The music played was great. However I understand the best time to come is Sunday night; I was there Saturday afternoon. The menu was an impressive size and had something for everyone. Stans is always a good time, no matter what band is playing or if you're alone or with friends. Food is good but what makes Stans great is their buzzard punch and atmosphere. Nothing fancy, just plain old good fun. Ok back to the food. Their wings are great as well as their burgers. Seafood is pretty good too. Go before 6:00 so you can catch their happy hour prices. My favorite dish here are their fried clam strips. Dinners after that are a little pricey. We usually go on Saturday because Sundays are their big draw and the place gets very crowded during season. Parking can be challenging. Opt for your motorcycle. read more

This bar has great music and ambiance, the food was mediocre, but the reason this bar gets a one star is because one of the bartenders was an ignorant man who clearly doesn't understand that he shouldn't offend his customers. When my friend went up to purchase some drinks, he asked her if she was in this country legally. My best friend is Puerto Rican and Greek, born in the USA and he had the nerve to stereotype her based on her looks. Great great fun! On an amazing piece of Florida history. So first, the location. Walk around the island a bit. There is such a story here! But then, sit down and enjoy the ambiance. It is fun, cool and very eclectic! And then dine. We had the peel and eat shrimp, the wings and the Colossal Sea Food Sampler. The shrimp were perfectly prepared and chilled and so delicious on a hot day! The wings were perfectly prepared - crisp and tangy. And the sea food sampler was amazing. A beautiful lobster tail perfectly prepared, awesome scallops and shrimp. But the best part was the locally farmed crab legs. Oh so delicious! It was busy the afternoon we were there, but not THAT busy. That's my only ding on this review. Service was friendly, but a little slow in refilling beverages, etc. The live music was fun and the crowd was clearly having a great time. As did we! I can't wait to go back! I rode my motorcycle across the Everglades to Marco Island on Saturday and discovered this backwater locals' joint. Had a delicious seared tuna sandwich and some cold Coronas while the country band played John Denver songs. I really like this place. Fun atmosphere and friendly crowd. A couple of quirky service issues. The fried fish basket ordered from the server was really lame. Two small pieces of fish. No tartar sauce and no ketchup for fries. Wtf? Walked up to the "self serve" grill for condiments and that is clearly the route to go. Ordered a burger and cocktail there and much better deal. We've been to Stans twice now, once on a regular Sunday and once for the Mullet Festival. I was a little scared the Mullet festival would be super crowded and not enjoyable for my retired parents, but it turns out there were more people their age there than mine. We experienced one grouchy employee who was frustrated with the crowd, but overall there were plenty of staff members working hard to keep everyone happy. The food was decent and came out fairly timely considering it's their busiest weekend of the year. The band was pretty good and the Buzzard Queen crowning is not to be missed, although I don't think I'll ever get the Buzzard Lope song out of my head. The bartender, Gary was AWESOME. Very attentive & personable. He also pours a damn good drink. Everyone I was with loved him (and loved to give him money). I came during the beginning of their "off season" but still had a good time. There was a band from Maine performing & danced to a few songs while everyone around me sat in their seats. A dance they've self proclaimed the Buzzard Lope, the spam sculpture competition called the Spammy Jammy, a mullet (fish not hair my friends) competition and singalong songs even in the afternoon. Great atmosphere...but the food is OK at best and the drink selection is abysmal We went here on a recent Sunday in hopes of eating something tastier and more local than we could get on the 'fancier' side of Marco Island. The fun atmosphere, good music, and water view seats in the shade were all great. But the fried shrimp and scallops were both kind of tasteless. The french fries were neither particularly hot nor crisp. We had expectations of getting yummy fish, but despite what you see on their online menu Tilapia was all they had - probably frozen, almost certainly farmed, and always tasteless. Only the softshell crab was worth eating. As for the draft beer selection, you can get any beer you like - so long as it's a mass market lager. And any soda you like - so long as it's sold by Coca-Cola. And any ice tea or lemonade you like - so long as you don't want it freshly brewed/made. We drank water. read more
