Some preface: Another dentist drilled deep into my teeth, exposing the nerve, and then said I needed a root canal. While it was unclear from what she said whether she caused the damage, or if my prior filling was damaged before she did work on me, in any case she was adamant that I see her Endodontist friend nearby to get a $2500+ root canal and crown. She also drilled into my upper tooth to fill a cavity that caused extreme pain for months after, which she blamed on my tooth adapting to the filling. To this day I still feel some weird pressure when I smile from her "dental work." She also chipped one of my nearby teeth in the process. In any case, I went to Dr. Young to get a second opinion about the root canal. Although my cavity was pretty deep, I wasn't in a lot of pain for that tooth; Dr. Young didn't think a root canal was a necessity and tried to save the tooth by doing a much cheaper procedure. Anyway, 7 months later and the X-ray shows my tooth is healed. Dr. Young's cleanings and cavity fillings are expensive (especially paying out of pocket like me) but totally worth it. Going to him will reduce your likelihood of paying for much more expensive procedures in the future, so it's just a smart investment to go here for dental work. read more

Ladies and Gentlemen not only is he still the kindest, most able dentist I've ever had, but did you know he was also a kick ass amateur architect? Dr. Young has designed an office so bright, clean and contemporary it feels like you are sitting in the healthiest mouth in the world. The new environment he has created for his practice is a perfect reflection of why I will forever refer him to anyone who will listen. He has the latest in technical dental equipment, jazz music echoing delicately through every crevice, bright happy modern art on the walls, family photo's in every room plus floors, walls and furniture glistening as if it was perfectly cleaned enamel. The place is so open and fresh I wanted to hang out and see what kind of cool people it would attract. I found Dr. Young through a yelp search for dental bonding, thinking I would need this procedure. I was expecting to pay a lot of money out of pocket to fix a small discoloration that had bothered me. However, Dr. Young saved my tooth without bonding and helped me save so much trouble and money. He is one of the nicest, most patient doctor I have ever met! He took almost an hour for a free consultation to talk me through all my options. I was ready to go with the most invasive option until Dr. Young told me two other options that were least invasive, saving me trouble of having to maintain tooth bonding and even saving me a lot of money. He honestly cares so much about the patient, and not about the business of dentistry. I am so lucky that the least invasive option actually fixed my tooth! His attention to detail and patience is so reassuring. You can tell dentistry is his passion. Went to see Dr Young based on all positive reviews. My visit was primarily to get help dealing with an off bite that had just been caused by a former dentist while getting a new crown. During the consultation I could notice he wasn't really interested in what I was saying but rather offered me to get a night-guard for about $700. On my second and last visit to pick up the night-guard he hardly spent any time with me, his Spanish speaking receptionist was rude as always and treated me like I wasn't even there which I must say was no better than Dr Young's since I was paying him to help me not to help himself. I was told the night-guard will be soft and should not give any problems while sleeping. Let me just say that what I got was a hard night-guard that I couldn't keep on for more than a minute. Dr Young is an excellent dentist I started receiving care from him when someone I knew was speaking so highly of him. I didn't really have a problem with the dentist I had been receiving care, but thought I would get a second opinion from Dr Young. The dentist I had been seeing all of a sudden told me it was necessary for me to lose one tooth and have more periodontal surgery. Well, Dr Young saved my teeth without periodontal surgery. I have been receiving my dental care from Dr Young for about 20 years. Dr Young is an honest practitioner and clearly not out to just make money His fees are reasonable (btw - covered very well with Dental insurance) and his office offers a great relaxing environment All on his team are thoroughly professional with great skill and courtesy. Stanton Young provided a treatment plan and cost for the dental work. He agreed to treat me. Young abandoned me four (4) days prior to the procedure. Below is the email sent to me by Young on January 30th. The procedure was to take place on February 1. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Hi, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but after much consideration, I have decided that I am not comfortable treating your dental needs. I wish you well in your search for a dentist who will spend ample time discussing your options and providing competent care at fees you find reasonable. In all sincerity, Dr. Young" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only reason I went back to Young was because he said that I could forgo implants and he would do prefab core and post as well as insert crowns for both teeth. The other dentists that I consulted insisted that the teeth required implants. * The abandonment took place so abruptly that I haven't had enough time to find a suitable replacement dentist to take over treatment * The abandonment has taken place when I am still in need of dental attention * I complied with Young's recommendations. According to Young's instruction, I had root canal. Young spoke to the endodontist and gave him instruction to put pins in the core to build and strengthen the structure. It took the endodontist so long to do this that I had to return to him to remove the roots on a second visit which included 3 injections. The endodontist was angry with Young for having him do this task when he felt Young should be doing this work * Stanton Young lacks trust and honesty. When reviewing the treatment plan he actually doubled the fee for the procedure to over $9,000. When I brought this to his attention he said he made a mistake. Young is unethical, negligent, extremely narcissistic, has little compassion and no conscience. It is my understanding that a dentist should provide quality and timely treatment - whatever is in the best interest of the patient. I spent weeks researching NYC dentists and calling offices around the city back in 2011 when I was in the market for a new dentist, and Dr. Young far surpasses everyone else I looked into in every regard, from knowledge, to skill (knowledge and skill don't always go hand-in-hand), to a holistic approach, to amazing bed-side manner, personalized attention and follow-up. Dr. Young is a rare treasure of a doctor, and I feel blessed to be in his care. His personalized care and attention to you as a person are tantamount to his incredible skill, knowledge and talent as a dentist. His work is beautiful both inside and out: his attention to cosmetic detail (he takes before and after shots to document the beauty of his dental artistry for proof) is second only to his attention to your oral health: he is a holistic doctor, and steers far away from any products with chemicals or harmful additives (this is HUGE for me). What has really set him over the edge is his personal attention to the person: he sends hand written thank you notes and holiday cards at every opportunity. He honestly cares about his patients and about human relationships - which is priceless. When I sent a friend to him a few months ago, he not only sent me a hand written thank you note, but also sent a gift card (even better: she called with an emergency on a Friday night, he personally called her back [she wasn't a patient of his yet!], counseled her, and got her in the very next day - a saturday!}. I have never heard of any other such personalized, exceptional care in this day and age. I have been with doctor with for the past 7 years. I recommend him to everyone I know. He is great at what he does: he is calm, detail-oriented, perfectionist, diligent. His office is modern and very clean in the heart of Soho. His staff are great at calling you to remind of appointment or to say you are due for a cleanning again. His tools are all modern. Dr. Young gave me the best cleaning I have ever gotten (and I have had a lot). There was not a hygienist, so the Dr. did the whole cleaning. He even gave me oil of Oregeno for a possible infection! I needed a root canal according to another dentist and I was seeing Dr. Young for a second opinion. He set me up with his colleague, and root canal specialist Dr. Chan. (Who by the way was also amazing). It turns out I did not need a root canal, she fixed the problem and I actually dozed off while she was drilling! Can you ever imagine dozing off at the dentist? After a few months of appointments with Dr. Young, I am just now getting around to giving him a very positive review. Shame on me for taking so long; I had already given another dentist at this practice (Dr. Michelle Chan) a 5-star rating based on my root canal experiences with her, and meant to review Dr. Young at the same time. Anyway, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this doctor is just how much of a class act he is. He goes out of his way to make sure you are pleased with his services. If you answer his question, "How is that?" with "It's pretty good"...he will respond with an "Ok, but I want it to be perfect." He definitely takes pride in his work, which is great to see. He's very experienced, caring, and always makes sure to check up on his patients. I think there may have been JUST one time when he wasn't able to call me like he usually does due to circumstances beyond his control, and he apologized profusely. I can't remember ever having a doctor who apologized about ANYTHING, but this dentist, who wasn't able to check up on me just once (out of, like, 10 times -- yes, I had to go in that much -- don't judge -- :) ), really wants to excel at every level when it comes to patient satisfaction. He's extremely soothing, too. His calm voice, the office music, and pleasant ambiance all help to relax you. I often feel like I am in a spa! Also, Dr. Young has done a lot of medical volunteering around the world. How can you not appreciate that? I love the fact that he is really well-rounded, holding a variety of interests...I especially appreciate a professional who has a worldly sense of curiosity and what seems to be a liberal arts mindset. I had gaps between my teeth and wanted Bonding, but I did not want it to look like a total make over, Hollywood-style. I wanted it to look as natural as possible, just a little better than before. One dentist thought I needed a 19.000-Dollar procedure with 6 veneers and claimed nothing else would help me - even though I said that I might have a slightly different idea of what looks good. Dr. Stanton E. Young was the exact opposite. He is a fantastic dentist. He is kind and friendly, and absolutely the best when it comes to his job. What an amazing dentist! I went in based on these yelp reviews for 2 chipped teeth that kept having their bonds fall out and asked him about veneers. He quickly talked me down from the costly procedures and told me he would bond them himself and contour and that his work should not fall out like the others as long as I was careful as to biting into hard things. Not only was his work the best I've had done (had bonds done at 3 different dentists before) but he was super friendly and nice (also very well dressed) and the bonds are still in tact 2 months later without any issues! I couldn't be happier and I will be back here for my cleanings and anything else for sure. read more

my experience here has been different from the other reviewers. I went there twice for cleaning and filling work done. My cleaning was done by a lady and she was very diligent, professional and cleaned up well. Went back to Dr. Young after a few years of serious teeth-grinding, and when I do something I give it my all, hence, they were damaged! Was prepared for the worst, ie; alot of pricey work...potentially veneers, yet, sadly, before the damage, I liked my natural teeth and smile.Didn't want to be " that chick with the fake teeth".... Well, being the artist he is, Dr. Young suggested cosmetic bonding, and in a few hours, with no pain, at a reasonable cost, I looked in the mirror and he had restored my old teeth. I was shocked, and thrilled. I didn't have to bring a picture because, as he said, teeth have anatomy, and he just followed the damage pattern and it led to where the teeth used to be. Amazing! Dr. Young is a very patient, kind and skilled provider. He didn't try to sell me on any unnecessary procedures, and I appreciated his conservative approach to treatment (he was willing to try filling on a deep cavity instead of going for a root canal treatment). Stanton Young is one of the best dentists the city has to offer. Not only is his work outstanding but he does not try to guage his patients with unnecessary work. I visited Dr. Young first a week ago. I would not have gone to visit at all had I not had an infected tooth - probably the result of visiting a not-so-caring dentist in the past, who I felt was quite negligent (and possibly criminal). Anyway, so I ended up needing an extraction today, which I could easily see how that could be a hugely traumatic experience for someone. Dr. Young made an attempt to be extra gentle and never rushed things. I definitely felt like I could trust him to do the job right. Anyway, I'm home now and have minimal pain, and I'm glad to be rid of that darned infected tooth. Last week, I got a cleaning by Dr. Young. He was very thorough and when I got home I could see a huge difference. I'm definitely going back for more cleanings and will keep visiting this office. His office space is beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The staff is personable (Ken, in particular, is the person I dealt with) and helpful. I definitely think that there should be an award for best dentist in New York City, and it should go to Dr. Young. I should know, I've been to a ton of dentists in New York City before deciding never to go one ever again... until now. His rate is very reasonable for the quality of service. He's out of network, but his office handles billing the insurance company on patients' behalf so everything is fairly easy. I give this office a high recommend. read more
