First off, the old lady ringing people up is a jerk. How are you being rude to me??? I'm ordering food like I'm suppose to! My friend asked her if there was another side other than coleslaw and her response was "you gotta pay for it" UMM yeah that's fine we're not gonna go broke at this restaurant if she splurges on a different side lady-in the end she didn't even give us another option she said I don't know! Don't you know your menu???don't you want to up sale your products?if that's the first person who greets people at your restaurant you need to make a change and I don't care if that's your mother-she's hurting your business. Stop and invest in a hostess, you're losing more than saving, hire a young girl to seat people or AT LEAST do what Candlelight inn does and have a sign up sheet. It's so strange having a free for all with seating, I saw two arguments happen over seating-if I'm paying for food I want to smile while eating, not worry about the lady who just stole my chair. We've been going to Stanz for over 2 years now. I love their omelette and coffee selections. Their fly situation has always bugged me (no pun intended)yet I always returned back for their brunch. After today, I think I'll be giving up Stanz for good. We sat at our dirty table for 10 minutes before the bus boy cleared it. Half way through my meal I found a cockroach on the table cloth by my leg. When I notified the bus boy of the situation, he casually looked around my table and walked away without resolving the problem. I lost my appetite to say the least. If those creepy critters are crawling around in the dining room, who knows what's going on in their kitchen. read more

I ate at Stan'z, and got a totally vicious case of food poisoning. I ordered the cafe salad which had cole slaw, walnuts, avocado and cheese in it. After I ate it, I didn't feel good. 7 hours later I was vomiting all night long. 4 days later and I still don't feel normal. Days of my life are gone, spent in bed all due to stopping here for take out. Either they don't wash their lettuce or they chopped it where they had raw meat. Update: owner sent me a rude message doubting my food poisoning and said I should have contacted her first. Customer always right? Guess not. read more

Nothing special unfortunately. Ambiance was nice very rustic and open feel. Self serve coffee and open seating once you place your order. I opted for the basic breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast and potatoes. By the time I fixed my tea and and sat down to take it all in my order was in front of me. The potatoes were overly done to the point where it was a charred collection of inedible rocks with a nice amount of seasoning. The eggs were lovely, light and fluffy not over done but under seasoned. A bit of salt would have made it better. The toast was from one of their many loaves of French bread that line the kitchen window. The bread was gorgeous! Crusty on the outside light and airy on the inside. It was dreaming for jam!!!! You have to ask for condiments which is a bit of a pain in the ass since they don't really have a waitstaff and if it's your first time (like mine was today) it can be a bit off putting. The tea was nothing special, Lipton! Hot water for me has to be boiling not Luke warm when attempting to make tea. There were 2 carafes filled with water on a burner but they're weren't hot enough. Then again I'm sure it's probably a liability thing if liquids are too hot and peeps burn themselves (thanks a lot macdonalds lady) I will gladly return soon to try another menu item. read more

I have been going to Stanz for two years. I eat here regularly - mostly for breakfast - but have purchased salads to go. I love Stanz! My 3 teenage girls love Stanz! My friends love Stanz! We love the coffee, home fries, fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juices. The breakfast sandwiches are great. Oatmeal too. We are going to try his brunch today! It is a place where you order at the counter and they deliver your food to you. At times it is quiet, but when it is busy...it is really hopping! The owner, Steve, works there. He is friendly, accommodating but fairly no nonsense. He believes in quality and he listens to his customers. This is not the place to go if you want to be waited on hand and foot. It is family friendly. You help your self to coffee refills (did I mention that the coffee is fantastic!) and your food will taste great. It is lovely for conversation or just to grab a quick bite. I have been to almost all the restaurants in Larchmont. For the price point and for the menu, Stanz is my absolute favorite. read more

I go there often, but after today, never again. Went before closing on Sunday, should not have. Instead of telling us they were closing soon, man at register, thank god mean lady took a day off, was happy to not only take our money, overcharge us and when we asked for receipt only gave us the credit card one! Waffle ok but served with very cold syrup which ruined it. Worse scene was when an elderly gentleman tried to get more coffee and same scamming guy at register told him they were closing and he was not making more. After seeing our shocked faces, and a loud comment made by his wife" we paid for it", he grudgingly made more. I think the idea here is great, but the follow-through could use some work. The coffee was kind of gross. The gluten-free pancakes were oddly sour-tasting, like they were half baking soda (not that I would judge an entire restaurant solely on the quality of a single gluten-free item). Stanz is a really bustling place herein Larchmont. Definitely the top lunch cafe in the area. At breakfast, they have great gourmet omelets and eggs. All of their menu choices feature quality cheeses and fresh ingredients. This place always smells great when I eat here. For lunch they have two long lists of unique salads like the Cajun salad and manor salad, and also sandwiches. Today I had the tuna salad, basil, & tomato sandwich with balsamic vinaigrette. Went up the the counter to check on status of our food and yet again about utensils and was met with rudeness and snappy-ness. I LOVE Stanz! The food is always delicious and fresh, and the portions are perfect. It has a rustic charm with it's shabby chic decor. During the week, you will find typical Larchmont moms in their work-out gear, but on the weekends, you'll find everyone else - packed! My only gripe is the seating situation. It's an "order first - find a table after" type, which always gives me anxiety! It's first come, first serve, and you have to wait in a line to be seated. On nice days, they do have a few outdoor tables. But it's a great lunch place if you find yourself in adorable Larchmont. read more

I love Stan'z!!! I've been here a few times and I've enjoyed the different brunch options and lunch paninis every time. Each sandwich is a little different than what I might get anywhere else, but I think that's the fun of it! The cheddar apple omelette is delicious - sweet and savory at the same time. Came here for a late breakfast around 1030 on a Sunday. You go up to the counter order then get seated and brought your food when it's ready. The food itself, delicious. For 10.50 I got scrambled eggs with goat cheese onions potatoes, which came with a side of fruit and bread. Delicious! Also got a fresh squeezed OJ. I gave it 4 stars because they need a better system of delivering, there are mostly community style table seating and I was just watching the waiters guess as to where they were supposed to bring the food. Fresh grilled chicken breasts, caramelized onions, melting goat cheese, and fresh bed of greens and avocado. It's simply the best chicken salad I've ever had! The service is friendly, but not the fastest (especially with the clean-up after the customers left). The waitress seems to get lost with which order belongs to what table at times. Been there two times. Great breakfast or brunch food. They've expanded into the store that used to be next door and have much more space. I had french toast and my friend had the open faced poached eggs with avocado, they didn't have goat cheese that day so she had it with brie. Mine was only 3 slices with sugar and cinnamon over it but it wav very filling. She was satisfied with hers and described it as a nice full feeling without having over ate. We had gone around 230 on a Sunday when they close at 3 and were still packed. The woman who runs the counter told us to take a table which was open by the window. We went over and someone had their coat on it so we sat on the high stools. She then asked whose coat it was and let us sit there since it goes by whoever orders first gets the first open table. It was very nice since we are teenagers and they were adults who ordered a lot more then we did. Water is self serve and free on the counter, they seem to be big on the salads which are a bit pricey for a bunch of greens but it seems everyone gets a lot. They don't rush you at all which was also nice. You don't have to leave tip since you pay once you order then get seated. read more

It is truly remarkable how meticulous the chef is - personally inspecting every plate, so detail oriented with every dish and making sure they are all cooked to perfection.
