My shopping experience started with a phone call to the store on a Saturday evening. Chris (Store Manager) answered my call and checked on an item for me so I can swing by on Sunday to get the price in store. On Sunday, to my surprise, there are 15-20 people showed up at the same time. Somehow they are NOT going for MY item, they are all showing up for some Mastercard no activation fee gift card. Chris thought I am one of those gift card, I showed him my item # and he said, he will take care of me after he is done with the limited gift cards in hand. Minutes later, he came to me to ask me for the item # one more time and went to the back to get my items. Totally impressed with Chris. Terrible customer service recently! A few weeks ago, I was unable to locate some Banker's Boxes I found online and asked an employee if they had them in the back. He started to walk away and said if it's not on the floor they don't have it. I used to frequent Staples over Office Depot specifically for customer service, but it is now nonexistent at this location. I recently stopped in to redeem a rewards certificate. I waited at least 25 minutes to check out with tons of customers in line and ONE employee at the registers. She didn't seem motivated at all and was unpleasant when I finally checked out. Also, the restrooms are always disgusting?!? Great products and store layout but I'll have to start shopping at Office Depot again! read more

She has a bright, positive attitude and addressed my questions and made sure I was taken care of with satisfaction. Went for a printing job for a textbook syllabus which was roughly 600-700 pages. When we arrived, we walked up to the front desk for the printing center and waited for about 10 minutes and were just ignored, even when we tried asking for help. Eventually, we tried to use the self-serve print machines and were extremely overcharged in printing just 20 sheets of paper--$50 ish dollars. A worker there finally came up to us and said that he could print it for us for much cheaper, so we happily agreed. The worker was polite enough but was pretty careless in printing, forgetting to print some of the pages (we had to go back) and cutting out a bit of the bottom. The price was MUCH better getting the book printed for us instead of using the self-serve machines. Because the worker had forgotten around 30 pages, we went back and someone immediately came to help us. She was very nice and helpful and that is why I am not giving Staples one star. I would not recommend coming here for a print job unless you are desperate, and if you do, be sure to get help and not use the machines yourself and pay a ton extra. read more

I came here after getting quoted a ridiculous price for a UPS shipment at the UPS store on De Anza Blvd. in Cupertino. The clerk at the shipping desk was fast courteous and best of all, I saved somewhere between $40 and $70 on my shipment compared to the other store. I like giving our local mom-and-pop stores my business, however when Staples is this much better it is hard to go anywhere else. read more

It's March 26th 2020 and everyone is hunkerd down following Covid-19 protocols. The hoarders have emptied shelves. I am always prepared, so I wasn't in fear of not having what I need, but have been on search for disinfecting wipes to have on hand or take in the car. I haven't been able to find any anywhere. Those or any other kind of cleaners. I got an email from Staples and figured I might as well check. In less than 24 hours, I had 3 containers of wipes, toilet bowl cleaner, and some other disinfectant spray delivered to my home. Thank you for being there Staples and A++++++ service! When Intuit/Turbo Tax gave gave me information that I could purchase the CD version from Staples for my situation, I later learned - only after purchasing - that this was incorrect information. Desktop Intuit offered me option to file for a refund online under their 60 day guarantee. This, too, was incorrect; the process to request a refund would not proceed to conclusion. When I called Intuit, they told me that I should return the product to Staples. Although Staples stated policy at the time of purchase was that it was nonreturnable if opened, given the circumstances that prevailed - i.e. that Turbo Tax had given me the incorrect information in advance of my purchase from Staples - Staples on Stevens Creek Blvd was considerate to accept my return. Overall I like the selection of products at this location and in the past have had luck in getting what I need. Today I submitted a small print job online and the finished poster was available in a couple of hours. Well almost... The online process included four paper options (heavyweight, super-heavyweight, photo gloss, and photo semi-gloss). The in-store options are the same. They just didn't know that they were and apparently feel that substituting gloss when semi-gloss was specified on the order is acceptable. So why don't they err on the side of matching papers? If they don't think that photo gloss paper is an option online, then don't use it on an online order. My two options were 1) come back in an hour after reprinting on the paper specified in the order, or 2) live with the result on the wrong paper. Unfortunately I didn't have the option of coming back later so decided to live with the wrong paper... and the staff continuing to believe that paper substitution is acceptable. read more

I called before I left home to be sure that this location carried plain white chalk and had it in stock, so I wouldn't waste a trip. I got through the system, and someone greeted me initially, let me ask my question and then randomly put me on hold for five minutes and someone else asked me again. I'm already annoyed. He confirms they have white chalk, in packs of 12. Perfect. I get here, head to the section with the chalk and there's none to be found. Walk around looking for customer service, he walks me back to the same spot and honestly doesn't really seem to care that I was given incorrect information. Do not go there to the Staples on Stevens Creek for your printing needs. Even if you are fully authorized to print a training material, even if you buy a usb in their store to print it, even if you tried 2 machines, even if an associate wants to help you, supervisor primo and manager valentina will say "its against policy to have this doc printed at staples". they will NOT help you print the document on any of their machines and showing them the email that shows the exact line that authorized u to print it will fall on deaf ears. wasted one hour when they could have told me within seconds of getting there. their machines dont work and no staff can support u on that. horrible customer service. all the other stores closed while i wasted time here. and now will end up for professional scrum master training by thescrummasteruk.com in palo alto with no hard copy to take notes on...arghhhh! And the best part is the associate who tried to print it before Mr Primo or Frimo whatever his name was - had printed one single sided and one double sided copies of it and they didnt destroy them in front of me. thats 1200$ worth of training material for free with them. read more

Up until today I would have definitely left more stars, but today was so not cool. We were straight up lied to. We went in and found a laptop we liked at a very good price the other day. To our dismay, they were sold out. Same story online and every other Staples in the area. I couldn't get this damn laptop out of my head, so I started calling to a few other locations that were slightly further away. One location offered to sell me the floor model at a 5% discount. I wanted to mull this over (as I know the floor models get a little beat up) before making a decision. Today I decided to see if we could purchase the floor model from this (our local) Staples. Over the phone they said we could, but oddly enough when I asked if he could hold it he said no, they wouldn't sell it anyways (???). We went in and the manager recognized us from the other day and said he'd get someone to help us. I thought this was a good sign, but apparently not. We waited at least 10 minutes for some guy to ask us if we needed help (obviously not sent over). I asked if we could purchase it at a discount and he said he'd go check what the current price was. After ANOTHER 10 minutes (if not longer) he came back and fed us some line about having to pay for the restoration. He told us that buying the $150 protection plan would be the cheaper way to do it, as a 'ticket' needed to be ordered and if we did it from scratch it would be less beneficial. This made us a little irritated, but decided to hear him out. We realized this was a bunch of crap - who the heck would pay EXTRA for a beat up floor model?! The reason we wanted it was because of the good price! He of course kept saying he knew we wanted it for the price, but the protection plan was an investment in the future blah blah blah. Just to confirm that this was dishonest, we called a different Staples and bluntly asked if there is any charge for restoration with a floor model. The gentleman said "OF COURSE NOT! It's included in the price." I thanked him, told him our story briefly, and he was surprised. Long story short, we will not be going back to this Staples and cannot in good conscious recommend anyone else to them. read more

Went here on a Monday night looking for a laptop. The place was a mob scene since I guess school was starting and everyone was doing last minute shopping. We chose this location because we had checked the internet to see which store had the particular model we were looking for and it said this one had it. Unfortunately , according to the sales person, they had just sold the last one they had. I'm knocking down the rating because we essentially had to tackle a sales person to help us and the "manager" that stepped in when I voiced my displeasure over having driven all the way over here was also less than helpful. When I told him I had checked their inventory on the internet he basically shrugged his shoulders and said that the internet was only updated once a day in the morning. (Funny since he said they would be getting a shipment later in the week and for the next few days I checked the internet just for giggles and every day it said this location had that model in stock). 2 stars for the less than stellar customer service and the obviously uninformed staff, including management. read more

My experience with them was a nightmare. I simply wanted to buy some gift cards. They charged me $75, but only gave me a gift card with $50 due to certain ``system error``. They could not either fix this problem nor cancel the transaction. They asked me to call my credit card company to cancel the transaction. Of course, it did not work. I also asked them to provide me another gift card with $25, and they refused it. The manager was so arrogant and she even did not want to talk to you about it. Staples always have better prices for the items I want, compared to Office Depot, and certainly Office Max. While the Office Depot on Stevens Creek seem to have even friendlier customer service, this Staples is pretty good, certainly more than I would ask for. The other days I was looking for some paper on special per box of 10 reams. They ran out of stock but they were kind enough to collect 10 reams and sold them to me at the special box price. I usually like Staples, but this one sucks. I thought it would be good, too, judging by its location close to Apple (and I like Apple). But, then, on second thought... silly me... The floors are REALLY dirty, it's not that well stocked and the sales people were nowhere to be found. I was looking FOREVER for a certain size of stationary. I finally asked an Asian guy named Ken and this is how it went... "Do you have 8 by 10 stationary or plain white paper?" "Uh... no... we only have.... 8 1/2 by ..... uh.... 11... and a half." I felt compelled to point out that he did not, in fact, have 8 1/2 by 11 1/2 since paper comes in 8 1/2 by 11 and I had just spent a half hour in the paper aisle scrutinizing every size, so I just let it go. I generally don't buy things in store if i can get something online and be exactly the same, but since they had a coupon for a nexus 7, I decided to put it on hold and make the trek down to the store. Only other time I went to a Staples was in Boston, but the feel was exactly the same. Walking in, it kind of felt like an inefficient use of space and no one tried to help me. There was only one register available, and the employee was new. He didn't really know what he was doing so he had to keep asking his boss who was busy doing paperwork at the customer service counter. Organization is horrible as well. Took them 10 min to find my tablet on hold and when they scanned it, said it wasn't ready for pickup when I already got the notification email. No complaints with the actual product, pricing, or payment, but they really need to get organized. read more

This place is quite fascinating. I am convinced that they must make 90% of their revenue in the weeks leading up to the first day of school at Monta Vista High School. So either it is packed with a line to the back of the store for a few weeks each August or it is a ghost town. The staff here is mediocre at best but you get what you pay for. Updating my review. Very happy with print service for postcards. Friendly service. They went out of their way to reformat, resize my postcard prints so that my artwork design would not have a white boarder. I wish the mobile app for designing print work was a bit easier to use, but I'm happy with this service. It's also the least expensive place I have found for this type of print service.
