I found this company from a local ad in my township and called them for a price quote. The owner, Bernie, picked up the phone. I told him I wanted to remodel my entire kitchen. I was asked to take pictures and text him the photos and let him know what I want and he can give me an estimate. It's strange as most contractors would come to do measurements first before providing estimate quotes, but not with this company. This should be my first red flag sign but nevertheless I did send him the photos and information as Bernie advised. We didn't hear from Bernie after two weeks, and this should have my second red flag. It's doesn't matter what excuse or how busy you are as an owner but a simple text to let us know that you're busy and that you'll get back to your customer is just common sense. My husband and I have to text him three weeks later to remind him about our quote request, then he sent us the quotes. Then, we were told the estimated quotes can be finalized if we meet him to select the kitchen counters and cabinets items featured and so we made an appointment to visit his business. Then, we scheduled a time for him to stop by our home to now measure our kitchen. We're told he can provide us a final quote afterwards. We met up. Well it's been 3 months and guess what? Still, no quotes provided from Bernie. My husband text two weeks after Bernie visited our home, and Bernie never replied. This is the third red flag. I texted Bernie a month later twice, and he said he is busy. He never got back to us, never told us when he can provide a quote. If he didn't want to make business, I'd wished he said so and stop wasting our time. I understand the company may be busy but be honest and transparent with your potential customers. Never would I recommend them. Don't waste time with businesses that treat you with such disrespect and wasting your time. Go with another contractor company. read more

Although this review is way overdue, time has not diminished how completely happy I am we went with Star22 for our main bathroom renovation & our from scratch new bathroom in our basement and relocated our washer/dryer to an area we turned into a laundry room. Let me tell you, I am a very particular person! The details matter to me and I was so nervous taking on multiple projects. From beginning to end, Bernie/Tim put me at ease & delivered! Above and beyond! Amazing customer service - we were made to feel like we were the only client & the only project they had. The PM Jalmer was great - and my rockstars - the two Henrys did HIGH QUALITY work! Everyone was hardworking, attentive & any of my questions or concerns were addressed immediately. They obtained the permits & everything was done properly & up to code (passed all inspections!) THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Oh and they kept the promised timeline - no delays or issues. INCREDIBLE! We were going to update two bathrooms in our house, the master bathroom and the hall bathroom. The hall bath was going to be a complete gut, but the footprint was going to remain the same. The master bathroom was a complete gut, but the footprint was going to be updated, with a curb less linear drain shower. We asked Bernie if this was something he had done and he said it was in their scope. After the rough plumbing inspection, I realized there was standing water on the shower floor. Using a level, the shower floor that was supposed to have a slope for draining was level. When I asked Bernie for the second time if he had ever done this type of shower floor, all I heard was crickets coming from him. The shower floor had to be stripped down to the joists and I brought in a different contractor to build the curb less shower floor with the linear drain. In my opinion, Bernie was not honest with me in his construction abilities. He also wanted me to pay the full price for this option as per the contract. We negotiated a reasonable solution to the cost of this issue, only for Bernie to show up the next day, demanding more money or he was pulling his team off the project. Then when it came time for the tile contractor to start their work it was determined that a wall that Bernie built separating the shower from the vanity was almost two inches out of plumb at the top of the wall. I provided Bernie with a list of all the plumbing shower fixtures, so he knew exactly what had to be done in the master shower. He charged additional money as a result of the plumbing fixtures, as he said it was more work for his team to install. I learned about the additional costs after he did the work and handed me an invoice. There were other instances when Bernie performed additional work without my authorization. He never provided a cost estimate for any of the additional work, only the invoice when that work was completed. When we were negotiating the contract Bernie said if I paid cash then I would get a 3% credit card savings from the contract price. At the end of the contract, I applied my 3% discount to the last payment as a credit. Bernie's story changed and now he was claiming something entirely different and did not want to apply the cash discount. In my opinion not only does Bernie overstate the abilities of his company, but their work lacks quality and he is not a very honorable person. read more

A couple weeks after Star 22 Home remodeled our master bathroom costing tens of thousands of dollars, we found that a marble countertop was installed without being sealed as the surface began to be eaten away in several places. Star 22 Home refuses to take responsibility to replace this countertop and continues to ignore our communications. BEWARE of doing business with Star 22 Home who will not stand behind their work. read more

They did a poor job. They were amateurs with the quality of work they did. They spray painted my bushes white when they painting the molding on top of them. The floor was installed incorrectly where my tiles were coming up because they didn't put subset mud under the cement board where they just screwed it, the grout kept crumbling as a result, they put my cabinet in crooked, they didn't put the shelf under the window that was originally there to match the rest of the house, they went through the bedroom wall and ruined my daughters tapestry hanging on the wall, screws were not drilled in all the way and showed pop-ups in the drywall, paint was horrendous because they didn't check the swatch with the paint they picked up because Home Depot didn't mix it right but they put up on the wall anyway and it started peeling off, they didn't wanna take responsibility for it so we were left with a mess and Home Depot didn't wanna do anything because it was a contractor that did it, response from Bernie was horrible because he didn't want to deal with any issues because he was paid already, it took him two years to come to my place to look at the issues finally and denied a lot of the issues blaming his guys. He didn't step foot into our place when this was being constructed because my wife at the time was home and dealing with a language barrier with his workers who didn't speak English. They scratched our tub with their ladder when they were dealing with the ceiling fan they installed incorrectly. The ceiling fan eventually caught on fire because of faulty wiring they hooked up together. They didn't properly insulate the ceiling fan in the attic also which caused some of the issues. read more

Star 22 Home did an outstanding job on our bathrooms. Bernie worked with us on design for both bathrooms, answered all questions we had and worked within our budget. Bernie came to the house a few times to show us designs and determine which was the best fit for our needs. In addition the crew that came to our house was extremely professional and hard working. They worked 8-6pm every day only taking a 30 min break. They asked us questions before installing certain things to make sure we were happy with it, etc. They cleaned up every night before they left. Bernie also told us 2 weeks for both bathrooms to be done and it was done in 1.5 weeks which was amazing. High quality work, high quality product and reasonable cost. I agree with a couple of these reviews, but sadly the bad ones. I had 2 bathrooms done in 2019 in 5 days. Bernie was attentive and got back to us quickly. The bathrooms came out beautifully (of course that is because of the items we picked out). Now if I try to text him, he ignores me. Within 2 years, the towel rack and toilet paper holder started coming out of the wall. I let Bernie know, but I guess because it was 2 years he figured he doesn't have to stand by his work, so my husband took care of it. Now just the other day part of my vanity fell off, actually a panel just came right off the screws. I'm starting to feel that they really rushed the jobs and did shotty work. In the beginning I was recommending Star 22, but NO MORE. Bernie, you should stand by your work. You had NO problems cashing my 23,000 check; you were right there with your hand out, where are you now??? This is my opinion of this business. read more

They are cheap, shotty work, cut corners to leave you a disaster down the road. We ended up with a tile floor coming up because they didn't subset mud under the tile board, just screws, a crooked counter because they didn't want to cut the plumbing pipe underneath, brand new Sheetrock walls not primed properly, pipes that had no plumbers tape that started leaking, a toilet with a cheap thin wax ring that caused a flood in our new basement, they painted our landscape when they painted the molding, the wires to our fan in the bathroom were not tight and cost us a visit from a proper electrician, bought the wrong toilet, they scratched my new tub and didn't make any effort to fix or replace it. They punched holes in our wall and ruined one of my daughter's things. They broke picture frames and scrached our walls in the hallway. They promised 5 days for our bathroom and it took them 7, they didn't check the paint color before putting it on our walls and the paint started to peal and it is still pealing today, because of no straight primer on a new Sheetrock wall under it, they used a mix on the wall which you shouldn't do, unless it was painted with another color beforehand. They got rid of our window sill during demolition and never put one back to match the rest of the house, they put a picture frame basically around our bathroom window. It took after 3 years, the time you can sue them for Bernie to show up and lie to my face. Avoid them! read more
