I went today for a pre employment drug test. The appt was for 9:30am. I wad told I could get there few minutes early but not later. I arrived at 9:25am and the shades were down in the window, and a note on the door about wearing a mask, ok, I can do that. The door was locked when I tried to open it, so I knocked. I heard a woman yell that she was on the phone, ok I stepped back to wait. It took a few minutes but she finally came to the door and let me in. She asked me a few questions in a way that made me think I was bothering her. Really rude but that I gladly answered. We went into the back and I emptied my pockets and she checked my socks, ok. Handed me the cup and I went in to pee. Put enough in the cup and finished peeing. Didn't flush, or turn on the water, came out and put the cup where she told me. I went to wash my hands. When I came out she didn't wait more than a second before she told me that it was fake pee, and not "warm" enough!!!! What?????? I have been drug tested many times, and never had this reaction. I have also been clean and sober for 20+ years!! I have been to other star testing places - in santa maria, and slo, and never had anyone say anything like that ever!! She told me that I had 3 hours to do another test, but that I could not leave the office before I did another test. Ok, so I sit and start drinking water, and she tells me not to drink so fast or so much. I had another appt in another town so I wanted to get out of there as soon as I could. I called my future employer and told them what she had said and that I was going to be a while before going back to finish paperwork. That woman then CALLED my future employer and told them I used fake pee and that she caught me!! Now my second test has to go to the lab but now I may not get my job!! This is the worst, rudest, and awful person to deal with. I have never been treated like this at any other star testing place EVER over the years. First off I have years clean and sober, that I am very proud of! Second - she sat there while I waited to do the second test and told me all about how people try to get over on her. Third - she called my future employer and and told them I used "synthetic" pee! I did not!!! Unprofessional and rude!!! The old me would have been smart enough to do a fake pee test right but the me now never even thought this was possible. Now I wait and have to hope that my employer will be my employer And I also wonder why a first test can be do e in minutes and a second test has to go to a lab. But I was told "that is the procedure". They can't do a second test in the same time as the first??? Even if it has to still go to a lab ??? read more

Our company just recently sent in three of of employees for required testing. The lady there was extremely professional, friendly, and quick. So much better than the last lady that worked there. Making all three appointments was very easy. There was such a positive improvement, I felt I should write a review. Great job! read more

I called Star Drug Testing in Paso Robles to book an appointment today. Not only was I able to take the test today, but the customer service was exceptional. Fawn is friendly, professional, and attentive. I have little experience with these tests, but they made the process easy, understandable, and fast. Banned me for life because I refused to wear a mask with my heath condition I'm not required too so when told I won't be able to without one and being yelled at I ask for medical professional to be there when I take my test Incase something does happen. I was then told I was threatening her and hung up with me then called my new job and told them I'm not allowed there and I should have my job and unfortunately only place that job uses for drug test so stuck in my bad situation with my 2 year old Then proceeded to tell other customers that she mad it so I can't get my job with a smile on her face read more

The man in the front desk is rude and makes fun of you ( or was it because he saw me young, having this kind of test for the first time? SUCKS). I don't know how a clinic specialized in such an important role as drug testing is, can have that kind of personnel. read more

Everyone who says the people here are rude probably didn't come in with a full bladder and a bad attitude. I had nice conversations with both employees here. Wish I had caught their names. Just make sure you come with a full bladder or prepare to sit for a while!!!! It's all good. Don't try any shady shit and just be polite. You get what you give. read more

This review is based solely on the demeanor of Pete, the guy working there. I came here once about 8 years ago for a pre-employment drug test, and today I brought my brother here for the same purpose. When I did my urine test, I accidentally dropped it on the bathroom floor. Pete's demeanor instantly became hostile and he got an attitude. I told him I'd clean the mess and he gave me a mop and spray, and he STILL acted put out and inconvenienced, like it was him having to clean the mess. Fast forward 8 years. I brought my brother here, and as we pulled up I recognized the place and related my prior experience to my brother. We walk in and it's the same guy. He wound up catching an attitude with my brother over something very trivial, and my brother flat out put him in his place and told him, "Don't give me any of your bullshit, man - I won't put up with it". That shut the prick's mouth real quick. I know persons coming for pre-employment drug screens can't choose the location, but just a head's up. If you get Pete, be prepared for an unprofessional demeanor and a bullshit attitude. read more

I only write reviews for EXTREMELY poor businesses to help steer others elsewhere. Had a pre-employment drug test, called ahead, Marina told me not to bring in paper work, I showed up and she wouldn't do the test because I did not bring paperwork? Next, she would not let me print my form at her crappy desk, nor use my iPhone as a verification method. Then when I hurried home and returned with the print out, she had locked the door and 'had to leave town immediately'. Weird that she was able to unlock it, and tell me why-not for ~20 mins if she was in such a rush. TERRIBLE customer service! I went to Quest in SLO because I only had a 72 hour window and they were great. Sorry I'm not sorry Star Labs and Marina. I get 'trashy' vibes and I definitely will not be back :) read more

I came in here for a drug test for work. The first time I did NOT meet the line with enough urine. He said that I should have prepared. He was right. I should have! I thought i did. But, I guess not enough. He did seem a little rude. But, I also feel like I'm wasting his time if I have to come back. I told him I had a bottle of water and asked if I should go chug it and he said it would take at least an hour and he had to go to lunch and be back at one.. little does he know, I'm a peeing machine! 25 minutes later, I come back and the whole process was 5 minutes long and he was very pleasant. I think if you just do what you're supposed to do and don't waste time, you'll get a very good attitude. I do think a little better attitude would be better. But.. would YOU want to be working around pee all day? read more

I'm sure Pete has to deal with a lot of hostility and attitude from the people who are sent there. When I arrived he was very business like but after I talked with him a little bit he warmed up and was very helpful in answering all my questions and chit chat in general. I am randomly drug tested 3 times a month for my State License and have been for the past year. I have been to quite a few places to test urgent care etc...I think previous reviews are people who are not used to an old school guy who is a straight shooter and doesn't put up with any nonsense. Whenever I show up to give a sample he is pleasant and we usually just shoot the shit while he gets my paperwork filled out with by the way he does efficiently and thoroughly. It is very important that my sample and paperwork are correct as my career is on the line. When the State Board sent me a letter saying the receiving lab didn't receive my sample Pete was very quick to help find the tracking information and prove that it was sent and received, clearing me of any liability. A lot of the time when giving samples I have a shy bladder. Pete has been more than accommodating allowing me ample time showing a lot of patience. When I'm good to go I'm in and out of there in less than 10 min. Since moving to SLO 4 months ago I have a choice to test in SLO but I choose to drive 30 minutes out of my way just because I feel comfortable and I know for fact that my sample and paperwork will be correct and consistent. Not to mention he is $20 cheaper than urgent care. So thank you Pete and I hope you will continue to run that testing site until my testing days are over! read more
