I liked the other location better this one is too bright and cafeteria like table next to us had two screaming kids making a mess jumping all over the bench I was sitting on parents just sitting there ignoring them. We made an 8 PM reservation for two on a Thursday night and proceeded within minutes upon arrival. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere is relaxed. As a vegetarian, I asked the waiter what I could order and they said they could make pad Thai, Singapore noodles, garlic noodles, vegetarian. We ordered the green beans, appetizer and the Singapore noodles vegetarian both were excellent!! The Singapore noodles are a bean thread noodle with egg and tofu and bell peppers and tiny limes. Don't really understand the hype, and not my type of restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the decor, and the staff was amazing. But the drinks were mediocre, over priced, and the noodles were just meh. We came randomly on a Sunday with no reservations. We ordered whiskey sours which were watered down and didn't taste amazing. I ordered the hapa ramen and my partner ordered the hot and sour. Yes, the hand made noodles were good. It was more like soba noodles. But it didn't really go with the items in the noodles. Soup was decent. My partners hot and sour was very salt, and soup came like warm. She tried her best to continue eating it, but had to ask for hot water to concentrate it down. The nice waiter came back and said the chef can remake it. The remake was good. So we were fairly happy with that. However portion size and the amount of protein in each noodle dish was very minimal for the price. A single dish is not enough for one person. LAHAINA FRIED SOUP (not soup) was worth a try for the texture of the flat noodle and gave a bit of a padseew feel. Just no meat. SINGAPORE NOODLE was pretty good. Three years later, we came back to Star Noodle. Some people have said that the service isn't great, but we were very happy with the service. We had to wait about 10 minutes past our reservation time to sit, but after that, our waiter was very nice and helpful, and the food came very quickly. The menu is nice in that it's relatively small. Everything on it looks really good. We tried the chicken wings, adobo ribs, the green beans, the haba ramen, and the garlic noodles. The food was very good but didn't blow us away. Maybe it's because it sounds so good, but it's got a high bar to me. In the end, it was a very nice dinner, though the cost does add up if you get a couple of cocktails and four or five things to share. It's gonna be $200. Excellent experience, we love the new location closer to the water. I remember the pork buns being a little better (more pork) in the past but they were still acceptable. Trying out the new dim sum menu they offer on the weekends 10-1pm. Would recommend you make a reservation because it was pretty full. The interior and exterior of the restaurant is very clean. Great outdoor view of the ocean very relaxing. Our server was great excellent service fun to talk too. Starting with strawberry soda is was good could use a bit more flavoring. The dim sum was overall pretty good the pork shims had good flavor. And the shrimp shims had lots of shrimp packed in there with a good truffle sauce on top. They paired really well with the chilli crisps. The har gow was unfortunately not that good the outside wrapper was tuff and chewy and the shrimp filling inside was felt hard. We found this place while looking for the most reviewed spots on the island. We walked in without a reservation but the staff were super kind and helped us with a table with minimal wait, even when they were sold out for the night. Their garlic noodles are the star and something to die for - very flavorful and savory. The ramen on the menu was great as well. They were very accommodating of our dietary restrictions as well. We did not have reservations, but tried our luck with a party of 5 a little after 5pm and were able to sit at the bar (even with our 5-year-old). The food was amazing - I think the best we had in Maui. Our favorites and things we would definitely order again: 1. Miso Butterfish - our server recommended this and it was all of our favorite dish 2. Cantonese Green Beans - so good with a little heat 3. Garlic Noodles - yum! We could have easily ordered a second bowl. 4. Malasadas - We should have ordered one for each of us because they were perfectly cooked and delicious! First time visiting here, and I came based on a recommendation. I was excited to try it, but overall the experience didn't quite meet my expectations. I made a reservation for lunch and didn't realize it would be a dim sum-only menu, so that was a bit of a surprise. We ordered the garlic noodles, Lahaina fried soup, and har gow. The garlic noodles had good flavor, but were a bit too salty for my taste and slightly dry, which caused them to clump together. The Lahaina fried soup was an interesting and unique take on chow fun, though it also leaned on the saltier side. The har gow was decent, but didn't particularly stand out compared to other places I've tried. Overall, I can see the creativity behind the dishes, but I think some adjustments in seasoning and texture would really elevate the experience. I highly recommend this location for dinning in if you are on Maui. The food is top notch and the service is equally the same. The miso butterfish was hands-down the star of the night - perfectly flaky with that rich, savory glaze that had us scraping the plate clean. Don't sleep on the garlic noodles either; they're thinner than what you'd expect from a typical garlic noodle dish, but it was good flavor. I recently took a trip to Maui. I have not been since COVID, but the last time I ate at Star Noodles. the food was so good. The portions of the dishes reasonable sizes for Sharable dishes. This time I went, I found out the original location is not the Mixed Plate Restaurant & Star Noodle took Mix Plate old location which is across the way. Both Restaurants share a very small parking lot & there is very little street parking. You can go across the way and find parking at the Lahaina Cannery Mall. For food the quality & taste of the food was still good. The dishes are still sharable, but a lot smaller more like appetizer size, but the cost is the same as if you ordered a full plate. I like great food at a reasonable price & amount. Hopefully this temporary until Lahaina fully recovers. read more

Hate the 3-star rating but this place is mid at best. I've been to a lot of Asian restaurants, especially in NYC, so maybe my standards are high but the flavors here really fall flat. Maybe a cause of trying to do too much? For the long wait times to get a table, the cost, the value was just not there for me. We only sampled a small amount of the menu so I hope others have better opinions of their dishes, but I can't really recommend the two noodles dishes we had. HOWEVER!!! Star noodle was one of our bucket list restaurants on our Honeymoon in Maui and we were so happy to have gotten a reservation a day before our trip ended. The restaurant was very lively and had great views. Their dim sum food was also excellent. I do recommend coming early in the day if you want to try it out but were not able to make a reservation. read more

My girlfriend suggested we try Star Noodle during our most recent weekend getaway to Maui, and I'm definitely glad we did! Food was absolutely awesome. We initially had a reservation at 8:00 PM but we got there early to see if the staff might be able to accommodate us in a crowded restaurant, and thankfully one of the bar tables was available at 7:15 PM so we went with that. Service was great and efficient overall. Parking can be very difficult but we got lucky to find a spot right as another family was pulling out. I had the Garlic Noodles (which is one of the dry noodle menu items) and loved it; flavorful and delicious! There are not a lot of vegetarian options overall, which is okay in this sense. Many of the items on the small menu do still look and sound appealing. We'll plan on being back at Star Noodle down the road! read more

We made reservations for dinner: 7:45. Understand it was busy, but we didn't get seated until 8:10. That seems excessive. Our server, Honey, was great. She was helpful with choices, friendly and helped get our meal out. We asked for all of our food to come out as it was ready. The pork buns came our first and quickly and delicious. The octopus was also very good. So good, we ordered another order. The garlic noodles came out next and we waited and waited for the next dish. The garlic noodles were salty; it seemed like it was seasoned with fish dashi powder. In the meantime, we added ramen. The additional order of octopus and ramen came out and we were still waiting for the ahi. We had to ask Honey about it and she got it to our table. Drinks were good, but expensive. The malasadas were a bit doughy, and we had to wait a while for them. Their new location has a warm, inviting farmhouse feel. The bathrooms were clean, but the trash was overflowing. We had an wonderful dining experience at Star Noodle. Our dear friends who have been here before could not stop raving about this place, and now I can understand why they love it here so much! Made it just in time for our 6:30pm reservation. We were greeted and seated as soon as we arrived. This quaint open and airy resto had bar seating, as well as, ample tables and chairs inside. We came just in time to see the amazing sunset. The service was wonderful and our food and drink orders came out in a timely manner. All their dishes were bursting with next level umami and beyond! Similar to others, we were influenced into coming here thinking it was one of the most popular spots on Maui. Definitely overhyped. We had made a reservation but waited about 15 mins past our reservation time since it was pretty busy and they were short staffed. We ordered the Garlic Noodles, Lahaina Fried Soup, and the Miso Butterfish. Garlic Noodles: Didn't like the type of noodle they used, it was too skinny and I'm used to garlic noodles being thicker. Noodles were also a bit dry. Portion was decent except for being a plain noodle dish, but you can add protein for an extra charge. Lahaina Fried Soup: Didn't really like the noodle on this one neither, texture was a bit gummy. I feel like it needed a sauce. The bean sprouts were also too raw. Miso Butterfish: Definitely the best dish of the night. The fish was perfectly flaky, moist, and evenly cooked all the way through, and somehow even the middle of the fish had absorbed the miso umami flavor. Star Noodle is one of the few remaining Lahaina restaurants after the fire and they've managed to keep up a lively and vibrant atmosphere in old town Lahaina. The waitstaff were all very kind throughout our meal and the ambiance was very hip and fun. I enjoyed my old fashioned cocktail, although it did taste a bit on the sweeter side to me. As for food, everything was absolutely delicious. We had the steamed pork buns, grilled octopus, and avi avocado For me, the stand out was the ramen - plenty of dimension and flavor in the broth, delicious noodles, and melt-away meat. I enjoyed the pork buns and the ahi avo a lot but the ramen still was my favorite part of the meal. The service did feel a bit disjointed throughout our meal and I think is an area for improvement. Our waiter asked if we wanted our dishes spaced out, and in what order. Despite that, everything came out at the same time and we ran out of space on the table. It started off with the really tall, large, hostess not being accommodating or welcoming AT ALL! I'm talking bare minimum here. We made a very simple request, which we were totally fine with it not being accommodated- but it was the way that she replied to the request that set an ugly tone for our dining experience at Star Noodle. Again she's probably the largest woman working there, I think she is caucasian. We ordered the tempura, garlic noodles, kimchi, shortrib and the hot n sour. The tempura was very average and pedestrian, no real flavor, didn't stand out above any other tempura I've had before. The garlic noodles were hilariously dry. Like the texture of dry tangled hair. Really bad. The kimchi was ok. The shortrib was the highlight of the meal. The hot and sour soup wasn't very good. It had this smokiness that I wasn't expecting. Prosciutto in it was an interestijg choice, that didn't enhance the soup. Aside from the shortrib being the only good item that we ordered, our waitress was very kind and friendly, but even her sweetness couldn't make up for how ugly the hostess treated us. This place is AMAZING!!! I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Our server Andy was FANTASTIC and provided an amazing experience for us the entire dinner. The entire staff was super nice and friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great. The kimchi was fresh, crunchy and had great flavor. The papaya salad was also fresh and flavorful. We also ordered the green beans which were tasty and had a nice crunch. Not a must order though. The pork buns were fabulous and the pork was tender and flavorful. The food is always delicious. The offerings have definitely changed since they opened and it now has a more streamlined menu. My husband loves the Hapa Ramen and I really enjoyed the Pad Thai this time around. The tempura prawns were huge and prepared very well. The service is generally ok but be prepared to wait even if you have a reservation. I've only ever gone after sunset but I'm sure the view is glorious during the daytime.
