This location is on 8170 W. Charleston not sure how long this location has been there but I think the Restrooms where there before them seriously what a shame the toilets look like from back in the sixties the toilets barley flush and then it twirls and twirls and you be better going outside to wash your hands with the water hose. The sinks are TRULY TRULY disgusting they are about to fall off the wall it's so much dirt on top you can literally plant a plant just because it's a nursery you can still have a decent bathroom NO it doesn't have to look liked the Ritz but at least have it clean and neat for the customer or maybe the manager's think it's just a restroom well what about GERMS now for a little good news they had a very nice selection of plant's and the prices where nice as well that's all I can say. read more

THIS IS FOR MGMT (2 stars to get your attention, I would normally give SN more): Your checkout area/ process is a nightmare stress fest. Just got yelled at by another customer (an obtrusive obnoxiously loud mouthed schmuck who should've been a better person in front of his CHILDREN)... Because the single line for the 2-register checkout had forked, and I was the next after the fork... I verified w the woman in front of me and the obtrusive schmuck who wheeled up behind me heard and was smiling during the entire conversation... And then he WAITED until it was my turn to the register and then YELLED loudly that there in fact was a single line and it favored him and "all the people behind" him-- "didn't I see alllll the people?!?" (They filed in behind him after I arrived!) Of course I now had a mob who felt I was in the wrong (since they missed the entire interaction that happened long before they arrived)... And I was relegated to the back of the line-- when I was actually next-up. Employees (multiple) saw what had happened. One well-meaning male employee came up to me in the parking lot to apologize. He said that this happens all the time. BOTH employees that I spoke with said that this is an ongoing issue, and escalations happen on the regular. I asked why a designated register line isn't present and they said that it's been brought up numerous times to management. So...? What are you waiting for? The next disgruntled person who is yelled at by another will NOT be as acquiescing as me. read more

Yay! I found a great selection of trees at this location. I'm so glad I visited here over Moon nursery. The prices are much more affordable and I was looking for a Chilean Mesquite Tree. I'm so glad I found it at a reasonable price of $58 because I needed two. I placed my two trees on hold because I needed to borrow a truck the next day in order to pick it up. Their policy is that they'll hold items for up to 48-hours. Service was quick and efficient! Side note: they have a military discount so if you or your spouse is active duty you should definitely mention it and have your military ID on you. read more

Honestly, it used to be better. I was planning to buy a lemon tree, also other citrus trees... but unfortunately my plans did not succeed for second time. I was shocked to see the dwarf trees were absolutely in a bad shape. Me and my mom understand and we know about gardening tips, plants and other but we did not want to bring one of the trees that was sick to our place and make our other plants sick as well. Most of the plants including, trees, flowers and the rest were all dry and not looking in a good shape at all. I tried to buy seeds, but I was confused to see the prices. So I put them back. Coming to service... another awful experience one more time. Not greeted not assisted also got ignored, then one of the employees comes and says "We are closing ok?"... Ok ! I purchased a rose bush for $19.98 in early April. It dropped all it's leaves and never produced any new leaves. In mid-June I tried to return the dead bush for credit, but was told it was too late. I came here the other day looking for a few plants for my backyard. I know nothing about plants so I hoped that I would get help on which ones to choose that are low maintenance and non toxic to pets. Upon arrival, the place is huge with no employee in sight. I walk in the back and there's an information booth but no one is there. I walk around for a few min hoping that I find an employee and I do. I ask him a question and he says, "Oh I don't know. Ask the lady inside who knows everything about plants." Ok! I couldn't find her. I walk around 20-30 min more and just finally gave up looking. When I was leaving, I finally see a cashier and the same employee I saw earlier in the corner. It was the worse experience and I was quite disappointed. Purchased a flowering plum tree at this place. It is a $40 delivery fee. When I paid, they asked me where I wanted the tree placed at the house. I advised on right side of driveway. They dropped it off on day of delivery on the street on trash day. Not only trash day, bulk day. Do not get anything delivered from star nursery. We went to this nursery bc it's close to our house. We knew what we wanted and went out back to find what we wanted. They were sold out. We asked the lady in the garden area if any of the other stores had any she told us to go to the front cashier. We did and this young guy was very rude and said he can't check other stores. They called a manager. Who was very helpful and said they had some on a truck that was setting in the parking lot. We gave him our name and he said he would hold them up front for us. We went back 2 hours later as requested and the same kid said yes they were on hold but he put them back as they were not paid for. We had to go out and get the items paid and left. Now I remember why we usually go to the main Star Nursery as the Star Nursery on Charleston Ave. has been less than helpful. Very disappointed. read more

When I first moved to Las Vegas, I spent more time at Star than I have in the last 12 or so years. Changing from grass to desert landscaping meant some trips with landscapers for selecting plants and for ideas. For those 12 years, the landscaping has been mature and there has been no need to go to Star, Recently, I stopped here to look for pots for planting an orchid keiki which had developed on my plant. I found the bark I needed--much larger than I wanted but it was OK. Finding a pot for the plant was a problem. While they had a large amount of pots, many were the same but available in different colors and sizes. While I did get an outer pot, I was unable to find one for the keiki itself. I made one out of a plastic food container at home and it appears to be working well. Star always has a good selection of plants. read more

I suddenly took interest in plants and wanted to add nature to my place. I been searching for the right plant for me which I am a beginner in the plant community with a black thumb. I was yelping and searching for indoor plants and I stumbled upon Star Nursery which seems the right place to start for my plant journey. Very first time at this place! A big warehouse atmosphere of plants which immediately on the left side of the place you will find house plants. Soil, fertilizer, pottery and other items for plants through out the store. Going further into the big back yard you will find a plethora of plants for your backyard, garden, or landscape. Fruit plants, cacti, succulents, trees, and many more. I was pretty overwhelmed. So relaxing and just enjoying natures treasures which you will find a koi pod with turtles which is my favorite part of Star nursery. As for customer service, hardly any body on the floor if you need assistance. It would be nice if they set up an informational desk if you had questions about planting. Before coming to the store I did my own research that Pothos are great plants for beginners but I did not know what kind of soil to use or how to transition nursey plants into your indoor houseplants. I had to stay in line of the cashier to ask a question about what soil to use which the cashier was informative and I wanted to know more information but I did not want to hold up the line. I felt her knowledge of plants would of been useful if she worked the floor and talked to customers. Just wish more staff was available to assist costumers on the floor or could be they just been short staff due to Covid-19. Yesterday we paid a visit for many plants & needed assistance/opinions on quite a few for our new garden plot. While out in back choosing plants for a half hour, we could find nobody to help us. So we gathered up our 6 items (tho needing many more) & went to check out. The receipt showed $10 too much & I told the male cashier, along with opinion on not getting help. Normally, I have a good experience at Star Nursery. Today, not so much. I went yesterday looking for plants that can get about 4 feet tall and as wide. And that can handle the sun here. Talked to a lady I usually speak to often. Went back today to get them. Another person there, tells me the exact opposite of what the other employee told me the dat before. One, was a brand new "manager" who just started 2 weeks ago. When I circled back to him to find out why he is telling me something different than the person yesterday...he says " I manage the store properly", and "we all have different opinions about the plants here". 1. No body was asking him about how he is managing. 2. How are they not on the same page when it comes to what plants can take full sun and which can't? He most certainly changed my opinion about shopping there. I won't ever again. read more

I am relatively new to Vegas, here from Colorado. The landscape is obviously, quite different. So, here I am trying to figure out which plants, bushes, flowers will survive this heat. I have been to Star Nursery on Cheyenne, three or four times, and Tom, a manager there, has been exceptional in going out of his way to assist me. Other employees have tried, and done well, but I feel the need to pull Tom out of the "crowd", and Rave! Yesterday, he jumped through hoops trying to help me find a certain bush. I had a not-so-good picture, so when we figured it out, Star had none in stock. Tom told me to call "tomorrow morning" and he would have some ordered. I called at 10:30, and he had put in an order, as he said he would. The order wouldn't be in for a few days and possibly into early next week. I gave him my phone number, and he suggested that I call on Friday for an update, and/or, he would call me. Before I arrived back home, Tom was calling me to let me know that the Ann Rd. nursery had 30 of them. I was impressed that he thought about other options because he knew I needed this planted soon. You don't get customer service like this very often!! The really great news...was the plant was on sale! Too bad that I only needed one.:-) Tom also helped me last Summer....i was frustrated with the HARD water here in Vegas, that trashes out your cement. He recommended a product that is so helpful! And, one last thing. Last Summer I needed the smaller bag of "pay dirt", and ONLY the large size bag was available. He discounted the large size nicely, and I was able to get the dirt that day! Tom is awesome! Super knowledgeable, friendly, lots of energy, goes above and beyond. I can't say enough great things about him; Just a great guy! I will be a forever customer! read more

Star Nursery carries pretty selections. I found almost a red cart full of happy plants. If our condo complex didn't have limitations on the number of potted items allowed on the balcony and front door area, I may have walked out with a jungle. I was looking for easy maintenance greenery and plants that can survive Las Vegas summers. But I didn't want every one of them to be just a prickly cactus. Good thing they have flowering cactus and small cute ones too. I don't go plant nursery shopping frequently, and failed to realize... I had a cart to lug around while shopping, but cart less when I delivered my newbies home with me. Note: canvas carry all bags from Trader Joe's helped greatly!
