This review is an update to a previous review and mentions the Tesla Service Center Ridgepoint…read more(TSC) because their attempts at fixing my car contrast so starkly with the stellar results from CPR EV Repair, which is the real subject of this review. CPR is lightyears ahead for: 1. clear communications and answering questions even before being asked, 2. excellence in the art of multiple working hypotheses and finding the original problem of why the car was shutting down, and 3.coming across as on my side in the search for solutions. My 2014 Tesla S 85 had shut down electrically several times (no door locks, no windows, no nothing) which meant it was towed. It was looked at 3 times by the Tesla Ridgepoint at a cost of well over $1000, which included 2 extensive electronic "analyses". They came up empty handed except for finally deciding the Drive Unit (DU) had to be replaced. However, the drive unit had not been making any noise up until later and probably had nothing to do with the shut downs. Having lost faith in the uncommunicative Tesla SC , I had the car towed to CPR EV Repair. But the TSC left off the nose cone, frunk liner, and other parts. I found them on the floor of the SC work area and then hauled them out to CPR in Leander. Apparently the work I paid for did not include putting the car back together. Now for CPR and how delightfully different they are. CPR did analyze the car electrics and had to replace the DU due to a coolant leak that destroyed its internals. There is now a kit for this model of DU that prevents these leaks. However, demise of the DU turned out to probably not be the cause of the electrical shut downs. CPR replaced the internally rusty Drive Unit and then continued and discovered that the rain sensor had sent signals 442 times in the day preceding the last shutdown. After replacing the rain sensor they kept the car in case it shut off again, but it has worked fine thus far. Even if the rain sensor turns out to not be the problem, and I have to go to CPR again, I have full faith in their abilities and good intentions. I recommend them in the strongest possible terms for great customer communication and service and for aiming to be on your side to fix what's wrong with your vehicle.

The quality and versatility of work these guys do on Teslas is unmatched! the have added a soft…read moreclose on my trunk, a trailer hitch and a kick sensor on my trunk...I'll be back for more!!!
