We stop at this Starbucks when we drive to SLO from the Bay Area. Generally good service. Not today. It was around 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon. I asked for a decaf latte. The young lady said we're out of decaf. I said , "really?" "None?" She said they ran out. My daughter used to be a Starbucks manager and I've been to a lot of Starbucks...I've never seen that. I debated and asked what herbal teas they had. She kind of looked through them and said "Earl Grey?" I said that isn't herbal. She said "oh, you don't want caffeine?" I gave up at that point and said never mind. I'm pretty sure they hadn't run out of decaf...I just think she was poorly trained or maybe didn't want to deal with customers. I went into this Starbucks a couple of weeks ago hoping to have a good customer service experience as I am traveling through California. This Starbucks seemed good at first, great area of organization and cleanliness. However, once I got to order, there was a certain lady who kept giving me an annoyed face as I was ordering multiple drinks. From what I noticed, she is a short female with brunette hair and I think from what I saw, she goes by the name of Mel on her name tag. I'm never coming back to this horrible experience of a store again. From now on, I'm only going to a Starbucks in Soledad, CA where I hope the customer service is much better. read more

If you're heading down 101 this starbucks location is the best location in the valley to stop by at when you're in a hurry as its very easy to get off and hop back on the freeway. And I have never been in line for more than a minute or two here. They have yet to screw up on one of my orders but they haven't ever exactly wowed me which is why I gave them 4 stars. The drinks and service are up to par and have no complaints there. As illustrated in one of the pics I posted, if you're not really feeling like sitting outside in front they do (or did at least) have a couch in the back of the drive thru by the alley! This Starbucks is in a small shopping center off of 101. Many people seem to stop here as there is a McDonalds, gas stations, an auto parts store, a market, and a handful of restaurants for a bathroom break. Came into starbucks for my usual venti green tea with 3 pumps of honey. Well, apparently this Starbucks doesn't pump honey into your drink; they give it to you in hard-to-tear-open packets! Pretty annoying. And the barrista didn't even call out my name or drink when it was ready. She placed it on the counter when I wasn't looking. But the bathrooms were clean and the restaurant seemed clean as well. read more

Gonzales has what.. a water tower, a high school, a U Save market and apparently McDonalds and Starbucks. 5th street is essentially your one stop stop before heading to their downtown (I am not knocking on Gonzales.. hey it could be worse like Greenfield :-D). I ordered a venti water with my breakfast sandwich and coffee. some wretched little girl at the window handed me a tall I reminded her that I ordered a venti she said they were running out of that size so I asked for a grande. well she walks to the back like she's making me another one handed me my coffee then handed me the water. When I first walked in, I could immediately tell it was decorated for Easter! From banners to hidden eggs! It made the store feel more special and just not another Starbucks. Kudos to them for doing that! Anyways, I Had an issue with my drink order from a previous purchase at a different store and I asked the cashier if he could do something about it. He brought his manager, Olivia, and she totally was so nice about and fixed it for me. This Starbucks used to be very friendly and I would always love to order my frappuccinos there for myself and my girlfriend, however recently the staff has been very rude to me as they messed up my drink on two occassions by not adding expresso and when I went back to tell them that they messed up they were very rude and stubborn trying to convince me that I was wrong and they made the drink right even though I have ordered this drink hundreds of times before always with expresso. I tend to come to this location pretty often because of the convenience of it being on my way to work. This Starbucks location can be great and other times not so much. It seems like the training is either inconsistent or that some of the baristas here are inconsistent themselves. Service- As I mentioned earlier, it can be iffy on who and is taking your order and who makes it. I typically go through the drive through at this particular location and sometimes the barista will forget to get my water or snack I asked for. Quality- The drinks are obviously dependent on who makes them. All of the other locations I have been to are overall very consistent with the drink recipe therefore resulting in the taste I am expecting. However here, it seems like some maybe wing some of the recipes or aren't measuring?? Sometimes I will get too much milk or my tea will be TOO watered down. In the end it is a Starbucks and majority of the time my drink does come out okay. Just disappointed in the amount of times it has not come out okay. Basically, if it wasn't so convenient for me and my drive I wouldn't come to this location again. read more

I usually order my drinks on the Starbucks app so I don't have to wait very long and crossing my fingers that they get it right since it's written out for them. As I walked in to pick up my drink, I saw only one drink sitting in the designated area for "Mobil orders." There was no name or sticker on the cup so I asked one of the baristas if that was my drink. She rudely replied "yes" and proceeded to repeat my order with a horrible attitude. I said, "thanks. Just wanted to make sure I didn't take someone else's drink." The barista made a face and walked away without saying a word. I took my coffee and left. Unfortunately I did not check the drink before I left and didn't realize that instead of getting a quad sf vanilla soy latte, I got a regular mocha until I was already on the freeway. On our way back home from vacation, I wanted some Starbucks. I told my boyfriend to stop at the next starbucks he sees (which was probably hours away so i fell asleep) I had previously told my boyfriend order me a strawberry refresher. When my boyfriend got to the drive-thru window he asked for a strawberry refresher. The guy taking our order responded with, "you mean strawberry acai refresher." My boyfriend said, " no, can I have a strawberry refresher." The starbucks guy was getting annoyed and repeated again, " strawberry acai refresher." And my boyfriend repeats back," no, strawberry refresher?" LOL. At this point I was fully awake and was laughing because it was the same thing... The guy just got frustrated and said, "OK." But when we got to the togo window. The staff were all staring at my boyfriend. And when he handed us the drink, the drink did not look right. I almost drank it until I saw the label. He had underlined the name of the drink 4 times to make a point. I honestly thought he could have handled the situation a little more politely in the drive thru. I mean my boyfriend did not know the full name of the drink (He was just going off what I told him). We never had an issue ordering through other starbucks getting the same drink. Overall, I got a weird vibe from the whole thing. My drink did not look normal. I decided not to drink it and go to the next starbucks we saw. Who knows. What if he tampered with it. Looked like a bunch of highschool kids working there. Please teach your cashiers to have better customer service. It was just a small misunderstanding. You don't need to talk to my boyfriend like he's an idiot and have everyone on shift stare at him when picking up the drink... read more

What a horrible experience. First, we had to deal with some silly twit who was more interested in telling his co-workers all about his evening out. Then my husband ordered a coffee and was told that they were not brewing that one but they had 3 others available. Okay, no biggie, so we paid and left with our drinks. 20 minutes later, my husband takes a drink of his coffee which had now been reduced to an inch of coffee in the cup and pulls off the freeway, stops the car, while coughing and sputtering. In the bottom of the cup was at least 1/4 cup of coffee grounds. There is no excuse for this and it's a good thing he was able to stop before he choked! Between the twit and the grounds, this is one Starbucks we will avoid from now on. read more

Starbucks is consistently good but the wonderful people at our local, small town Starbucks makes this shop GREAT! This particular location has a fabulous crew; you can get Starbucks coffee ANYWHERE but the staff here in Gonzales makes our shop the BEST!!! They are friendly, efficient, bright, and consistently make my extra-hot, triple mocha just the way I like it! I don't think I've ever had a bad experience there and never wait more than a few minutes in the drive-thru. I wish I could remember all of their names as they deserve personal kudos. I can imagine that it can be quite stressful for them at times, but you'd never know it-they are always really sweet...they seem to be a very cohesive bunch of young people-I look forward to seeing each and every one of them; I hope they know how much their kindness means! So to Frankie, Diana, Cris-and all the other super baristas who work here (sorry I can't remember all of their names) thanks for all the SUPER extra-hot triple grande Mochas you've made for me with all that EXTRA WHIP CREAM!!! Congratulations Starbucks in Gonzalez! I have visited locations all around the country, and you have won the distinction of being the worst. Most of the sandwiches were unavailable, pastry case was practically barren. Ordered two tall Pikes with room. Somehow, the Pike was sweet! And when it was taken to the counter for replacement, some kid in glasses said "No, it's not." "Taste it then." I said - then he backed off and someone brewed a new batch. When the coffee was finished, I went to the condiments bar to add half and half - none. Asked the guy behind the counter for half and half, and he hands me a half empty, dirty, plastic gallon jug of half and half. NO napkins in either of the holders, but later a girl dropped some kraft paper towels on the condiments bar. NO paper towels in the dispenser in the rest room, which was littered with paper due to the overflowing trash can. Floors dirty, windows and ledges dirty. No time for taking care of business, but plenty of time for chat by the kiddies "working" there. Second try on the coffee was good however. I will not be stopping at this location ever again - you desperately need a manager here, or at the very least, a babysitter! read more

Both bathrooms were out of paper hand towels. When I politely informed the staff I was met with a blank stare and no comment. In the 20 minutes I was there, no one fixed the problem. Gross?! read more

When we walked in, the first thing I said to the fiance was that all the baristas working that night were male and they were all pretty good-looking, LOL! Anyway, we ordered our usual drinks - caramel macchiato for him and a vanilla latte for me. The service was SUPER FRIENDLY and the drinks were great! I've tasted some pretty nasty vanilla lattes in the past, but the barista who made our drinks that night was awesome.
