Sure enough, when I walked inside I was greeted with the smell of freshly ground coffee and wafts of toasted bread made its way to my nostrils. I appreciated the loaves of fresh bread on the counter, but being on the way to Broadway Market I decided to hold off on a purchase just yet. Instead, I went for a simple Americano to take-away. I really enjoyed this little trip over here and promised to be back soon again. All the other patrons looked very satisfied: reading the weekend edition of the Guardian while nibbling away on something delicious or chatting with a friend in a corner of the store...it all looked so comforting and if I hadn't had my dog waiting for me outside, I would've definitely prolonged my stay here ;-) Still, I wonder what's up with not displaying their name on the outside of the store?

This involves: no WiFi at home, and massive amounts of trawling up and down and around Dalston to source wonderful items of household joy such as toilet brushes, bins and doormats. Rest assured, i am generally not having fun. However, prompted by the same sign that Mei L. saw, I popped by for a coffee and a quick snark of their internets. I've been here for 2 hours, had three (very, very good) lattes and watched their current exhibiting artist painting his mural on the stark white interior of the cafe. It's looking good to say the least, and the outlook for the afternoon is considerably improved. The people running this little oasis are super friendly, and seem to have endless conversation, which is good in an area when anything vaguely stylish seems to be overrun by those with their finger so on the pulse that maybe their own hearts have stopped beating. Tina is peeking around the corner with a cheeky look on her face, as some Rai oozes out of the stereo. I'm eyeing up their serrano ham sandwich and most certainly will have one of their brownies. Oh, they've changed their tunes to Joni Mitchell now. Hmph. I would also play some scrabble with someone, but i'm sat next to a 5 year old with a serious addiction to hot chocolate. Fan-flipping-tastic!!…read more After a hard workout out in the gym, I was in desperate need of a coffee, so I took my yelp app out and saw sapid, which was a few minutes walk from where I was. I took my tired, weary legs along to there and promptly arrived saying 'I just want coffee, as strong as possible. Please can you help?' The server, politely advised me to go for lightest roast because it had more caffeine and recommended a double espresso. Woww not only was it a lot, lot easier than most espressos to drink, it perked me right up. I also spied bagels on the menu and what coffee shop visit wouldn't be complete with a bagel!! I ordered a peanut butter one, which is not only one my favourite snacks but also perfect post gym, to help you reenergise. This was particularly good!!£2 and so much peanut butter, it was like they knew I needed it! All in all at £3.90 for both, it was a complete bargain and definitely gonna become my post gym hotspot.

Pret is a chain but I have nothing against large businesses. Big businesses....they fly me round…read morethe world. They exhibit art. They lend me money. The feed me and they serve me coffee. Doesn't mean I like them all but similarly it doesn't mean I damn them all. Pret has an ethos that means you'll always get a smile from its staff. Generally the friendliest and nicest people that could serve you good coffee and freshly baked croissants no mater which one you choose. Great sanwiches, good sushi, nice crisps and fiery ginger beer. I like them. There was recently a story in the London press about how not all Pret's make their sanwiches fresh on the premises and how some shipped them in. The story was carried with a picture of a man on a Pret delivery bicycle taking a delivery of fresh made food to another Pret. Was I the only one who thought this was a ridiculous none story that gave as evidence a man cycling with a delivery. One how green is that and two he was prob just delivering around the corner to another store.
