We also ordered breakfast sandwiches: jamon york and queso on croissants, which they toasted for us. DELICIOUS. The service was good and so was the food. We enjoyed our breakfast at the outdoor seating area on Gran Via! Perfect for people watching - they also have an upstairs lounge which is a pretty nice hangout. 14 Euro for breakfast for the two of us (a little pricey but still delicious). I wanted to stay away from "American" restaurants when I went to Spain but you really can't go wrong with Starbucks :).

However, what makes this one better from a lot of them in Spain is that the work area is very large. With multiple big armchairs and tables all over, this place is ready for you to bring your thirst as well as your work. Also, the staff speak English (yay!). The attitude when I asked for the coffee to be a certain way because they don't have the creamer out for us to add it ourselves to the coffee. He said to do it myself instead and rolled his eyes. You should be happy you don't work for tips because with that negative attitude you would not make much. Starbucks you can do this better, just because this location is in Spain and not in the USA doesn't mean the product and the service has to have this kind of drastic change. People in the USA are happy to make you a drink these three staff members at this Starbucks added like they were doing me a freaking favor. Next time I'm in Madrid this is a place to avoid.

What's interesting about the Starbucks in Europe are the different options they offer as far as food. Their sandwich selection ( I broke my bread protocol due to walking 10 miles/20,000 steps daily) were awesome: my fave was the turkey/avocado/tomato slider on a multi grain bread. It was fresh and delicious! Just the right size for a quick pick me up. Other options were Iberian ham and cheese, mozzarella and tomato and many more. I always ordered an old fave, non fat Caramel Macchiato, and was prepared consistently perfect. It always has the right ratio of caramel to coffee. Starbucks is always thinking green this it's nice that they continue to promote reusable cup option. This location was spotless and had upstairs seating. The only disconnect was not having Star Reward loyalty program. I would have been accumulating serious star rewards...
