This will be my last visit to my neighborhood Starbucks. Today, I ordered my usual drink, and the name on my label read "(my first name)-Fill-to-Top." Clearly, I've had ongoing issues with this location not filling my premium-priced drink to the top. Today, they left an inch of the cup unfilled. I politely asked them to remake the drink so it was full. The young, twenty-something barista had the nerve to tell me, "We are instructed to leave the cup unfilled by half an inch from the top." (It was at least a full inch unfilled.) I began to explain that while I don't mind paying the premium price, I do expect a full cup. He then said something about, "this is how we measure it." I mentioned that he's made my drink before and filled it to the top as requested. At that point, I decided this would absolutely be my last visit to this Starbucks. I've complained about the short-filled drinks here before, and I never, EVER, have this problem at any other Starbucks I've visited across the continental U.S. Is it a lack of training? I can't help but wonder. Why is this Starbucks so consistently bad at filling drinks? I asked for a refund but felt awful because I was so frustrated. Most of the staff there is very nice. This young fellow's excuse was pathetic. I'll say it again -- if we're paying a premium price, fill the drink to the top. For Pete's sake, I even have it listed as my name on the cup. read more

Been going here for sometime to study late at night. They recently changed their hours. While I totally understand some signage and heads up from the employees would be helpful. I went right before closing put my stuff down and went to grab a drink. It wasn't until I had purchased my drink and went back to my stuff they told me that I had to leave. Felt as though they wanted my business and then to kick me out. There was nothing outside informing the updated hours. I typically sit where I will not be disturbed or be a disturbance, and can handle my schoolwork without issue. Unfortunately, during my last visit, only the bench seats by the restroom were open. I sat and get my things ready when an old Dad/Uncle/Cousin/Friend/Son/Brother gets inquisitive. He was there with friends and against my better judgement of saying "I'm here to book my winter travels through Europe" or just ignoring him, when he asked "what are you doing here?" I told him a different truth, here to do schoolwork. Apparently remote learning means we'll be zombies, to him. In my head I thought "better a zombie than a ghost." He's seen a lot of years, and may not have much time left. He made a joke that didn't land with me, or his table - but the hiring manager that was actively interviewing thought it was hilarious. Overall weird experience. I tried to maneuver his questions with grace, asking "what do you mean", after each - so as to not jump to conclusions. 0/10 weird guy. He leaves first, his friends apologize later when they leave. "Our friend's a real jokester, don't take it to heart", or something similar. I wondered why they felt that was necessary.. To the Asian woman that was interviewing, I hope you don't get the job - as the manager cannot read the room. Like?? Schools are barely safe to send kids to. Dinner is overpriced and underwhelming. Let's drive nicely, sip our coffee, human to human - we don't gotta interact beyond the pleasantries. Not a safe space. read more

My go-to Starbucks in Seattle, and probably one of the nicer, higher-end Starbucks locations in Seattle, besides the Roastery and the Reserve store in the SSC. For every one of the dozens of times I've been here, the service has consistently been highly professional, welcoming, and helpful, no matter who is behind the counter. Rumor has it that this is the SBUX store that SBUX executives who live in the area often frequent, so maybe that explains the exemplary experience? Whatever the reason is, I appreciate it! For coffee, they not only have all of the usual menu items, but this is also a Reserve store, where you can order Clover-brewed cups of their small-batch coffees (for which I am a total sucker). The experienced baristas here know their stuff, and they even included me once in a coffee-chocolate pairing, explaining how the different flavors complemented one another - I picked a good day to sit at the counter! One of the things I love most about this SBUX compared to many of the other smaller stores is the wide variety of seating options here. They have bar seating, communal tables, round tables, smaller 2-top tables, a kid-friendly area, living-room-style chairs, fire-side seating, high tables, a couple couches, and a wall of bench seats. So whether you're reading, working, hanging out, or bringing the kids, there are a ton of options to choose from. Just a heads up that this is a popular spot on sunny days because of the nearby Madison Park Beach and as an after-school hang out, so be prepared for things to get busy and crowded under certain circumstances. My anecdotal observation is that it has also gotten slightly busier than in pre-COVID times. There is also a parking lot available, but it's pretty tight, so for larger vehicles or busy times, just skip it and go for the ample street parking. read more

I got the iced coconut milk latte. I didn't expect coconut milk to provide such a creamy texture but it tasted great and there's a hint of coconut. The drink wasn't too sweet either. The drink was refreshing and light, great if you don't just want black coffee but don't want an extremely sweet drink. The location is nearby a residential area. It's quiet enough to do work and this location has some of the Starbucks Reserve drinks and beans too, which is great if you don't want to venture downtown for it. read more

This Starbucks feels like a neighborhood Starbucks. It is best enjoyed during the holiday season. We love posting up near the fireplace. There's roughly 4 seats surrounding it, but people are open to making friends if there's space along the edge of the fireplace. On the other side of the fireplace, there's a family seating area where it seems the kiddos hang out and drink their hot cocoa, draw or do school work while the parents hang out. There are high top seating throughout the space where people have coffee dates, meetings, or remote computer work. There is a bar style seating around the drink pick up area as well as community style tables that you can reserve. We haven't had a bad order as they are consistent. If we have to choose a cafe for bigger groups, we choose this location. read more

I love this location. I started going here because of the parking but I've been going back because the staff is so nice! On Halloween the baristas dressed up and were having fun. It's awesome cause this is the limited human interaction I get while in quarantine during this pandemic. Today, I went in to get a medicine ball and they ran out of ingredients (womp womp). While the baristas were checking, the store started to get packed which made me very anxious (shame on me for getting Starbucks during a pandemic but hey it's my only "treat"). There was a tall curly hair gentleman that had to break the news that they didn't have everything to make my drink and in a panic I said "no it's all good, I just want a refund". I hope it didn't come off as rude but truly I wanted to get out of the packed store. Anyhoo, he was so sweet and so understanding. I wanted to thank him for his kindness. Staff here are especially friendly. When I try a new drink they always let me know ahead of time that they are happy to remake it if it's not to my taste. There is also a ton of seating indoor and outdoor so would be a good place to study or to socialize with friends over coffee. Tables are kept really clean. Along the main drag of Madison park, so surrounded by a lot of other bakeries and other local stores. Lots of street parking. read more

I also used the online customization and ordering for the first time, and my drink was ready within a minute or two of my arrival. It's a true sociological experience, and it's absolutely that makes Madison Park fascinating. I LOVE coming to this place. There are soccer mommies with their children, teenagers being tutored in foreign language, young professionals working on their laptops, grumpy old men talking about "kids these days," you name it, it's there. This is a Starbucks straight from a movie. In the film, everyone drinks complicated versions of menu items. (Double tall, no-foam, nonfat, decaf blend with two pumps of sugar-free vanilla. You know, the "usual.") You do not order a drip in Madison Park. Get that Clover stuff. I have no clue what that is, but it's elite. Good luck to you on finding a seat, though. It can be hard to fit yourself into a modern Rockwell painting, so come early. read more

I'm not a coffee snob but if I indulge, I DO like good coffee. That said, if there's another alternative to SBUX, I'll give them a try instead of caving in and falling back on their coffee. This location though would make me change my mind if I lived in the area. It's nicely appointed and always packed to the rafters with people lounging with their drinks. You can buy beer and wine here so I imagine the number of lingering people will increase. Great outdoor space and there's a myriad of seating options to select. The only thing I dislike is the parking situation - narrow lanes that cause other cars to spill over just they can exit their vehicle. I'd like to think they don't mean to be inconsiderate, they were just left with no choice. I've been here a couple of times for meetings and every barista that I encountered was friendly and speedy. while many starbucks usually have the same look and feel, this location definitely stands out! not only are the baristas friendly and accommodating, the space is HUGE! I haven't been here for evenings but I assume they have events with music or other activities here. the area to order drinks is spacious and the room is split up into sections by the fireplace and tables. if you have kids it seems like this is the location to take them because they have ample space to move around. I imagine parking can be a pain if you come during peak hours since the lot is a bit small and is spotted next to the main street in magnolia. if I lived in the area this is the spot id come to all the time if I could. Best Starbucks for people watching in Seattle, especially in the morning and around lunch. All the upscale Madison Park people are a trip. Always entertaining to see the older customers who have just played tennis at the Seattle Tennis Club in their whites and the young tech guys who park their white (they're always white) Teslas facing the wrong way in front. With neighborhood trees growing over quaint streets highlighted by immaculately trimmed yards and hedges, the locale reminds me a bit of Surrey/London meets Beverly Hills (the latter, sans palms and heat). Not only do they offer their wide array of chocolates, baked tarts, pies, cookies and other goodies, they also have the newly created wine bar! Being a previous partner I know how much work it takes to be nice to every single customer after busy frappacino rushes, a customer who takes what feels like 10 minutes to order after having 15 minutes in line to decide, a customer talking on their cell phone while ordering, and a picky customer who no matter how many times you remake their drink they seem to not be satisfied. I know what it feels to deal with all of that and the partners at this store is top notch. They are always friendly, personable and welcoming. 3 traits very hard to keep after the above issues they deal with on a daily basis. My boyfriend and I are regulars here and visit this starbucks numerous times a day. They know us by name and have our drinks memorized and sometimes even made before we get a chance to order. (Horrible, I know). However, regardless of who's working the register or the bar, we always get a welcoming greeting and a perfectly made drink. dare I say it? This starbucks is the best in Seattle! This store can be found at the onset of Madison Park, a secret suburby lair hidden past a hill of nothingness. It is the place to live if you like Seattle, but hate associating with anyone from Seattle. Pagodabucks is Super Spacious inside, easily the size of two Lesser Starbuckses; there is even an electric fireplace to account for the presumed lost heat of such a space! Most of the seating here is single couches; burlap sacks are the new literal wall-paper. Everyone here is an old person†, because once you pass the Hill of No Return, well, self-explanatory. I ask for a Reserve®‡ and the barista gives me a scowl; I ask if it's going to be annoying to make, and that I can order something else. She says, "It doesn't matter how annoying it is to make; it's what you want to drink." But it's not really, it's just a drink, and I feel guilty and too intimidated to ask this testy lady her salary. There are even vats of children's toys here, sprawled all over the seating, next to a bookshelf of educational reading with such super titles as "Super Baby Food" and "Super Trucks."⁂ I don't think I've ever encountered such a kid-friendly coffee shop, and especially not one where every patron seems to be postmenopausal and/or impotent. The wall also dictates that "We live in a beautiful world," which is helpful, because I never would have known, otherwise. I know this is a Starbucks that I'm reviewing... I don't even drink coffee. The one thing I do enjoy most about this particular Starbucks location is the atmosphere of the store. Very relaxed, open, and nice ambiance. Oh, and they are now offering cakes, fruit & cheese plates and alcohol at this location. Not sure how I feel about the alcohol part, because Madison Park is a very family friendly neighborhood and I would like it to stay that way! read more

Say what you want about Starbucks -- and frankly, that's not my point here -- this is a coffee shop on which others should be modeled. It's relaxed, spacious, well divided, and has a great vibe. Check out the private meeting space which you can reserve for parties of 6 or more. But there's a mystery... older guy with glasses, always in the corner back to the wall camped out with a 2 litre bottle of Talking Rain and a tripod. Anyone have a clue what he does here? I'm not a huge fan of Starbucks coffee, but I come here because I find this location has a lot of great tables to work at (including one kind of blocked off room) both indoors and outdoors. If you get your internet/phone service through Qwest, you can use the AT&T wifi service here for free (get info from Qwest). That is super awesome. The internet speeds here are also pretty good (I often get annoyed at the lag I experience at other coffee shops). The only downside of coming here for me is the coffee. I'm not a huge fan of Starbucks drip coffee. But the last trip here, the barista convinced me to try their Clover machine. I guess they're really trying to promote it, because she told me she'd only charge me for the price of a normal drip coffee. The Clover machine is apparently some kind of go-to contraption for coffee aficionados. It's kind of like a french press, but it's adaptable to get perfect water temps, etc for each different kind of beans. Starbucks has a bunch of smaller batch roasted coffees to try in the clover machine. Some of them will run you about $3-4 for a 12oz cup. I tried the Ethiopian blend which was very tasty (flavor-wise), but also felt a little weak. I'd be willing to try it again though. read more

One of my favorite locations of all-time! Two visits in and they were already greeting me by name. That really does make a difference and I think they honestly go the extra mile (probably because this is Howard Schultz' neighborhood Starbucks)! Also, the cases are always well stocked here with all of your favorite options, and the baristas are excellent at offering recommendations. My favorite part about this location and what keeps me coming back even though I live pretty far is the selection of seating/work space here. There are your standard, two-person tables with regular seating, comfy arm chairs by the window, outdoor patio tables, bar stools + counter tops for the contemporaries, and large tables with plenty of outlets for your weekly work meeting. I love how you can find a nook here and just get settled in. It's so different from my typical Starbucks experience. Two thumbs up, Madison Park Starbucks! read more

Ok - so lame to review a Starbucks, but this one is worth it. It's a bit unique and totally above average! This may be a test location, as they offer lots of neat-o stuff that other shops don't, including wine and the occasional live music. They have a machine called the "Clover" which makes delicious single cup brew. It's quite divine - less the ridiculous price tag ranging from 3.00 to 5.00+ for a cup of what is essentially drip coffee (though wildly delicious drip coffee - which I order all the time=). I love all the selection they have here, I love that it's always perfectly merchandised and uber clean. I love that the service is always superb (the crew here is quite sophisticated, warm and no tude.) What keeps them from the coveted 5th star: They mess up our drinks often. Kind of a lot. All the time. As we all know this completely sucks when you're in a hurry. read more

My neighborhood Starbucks! Yes, I am reviewing a Starbucks... but I frequent this one so often, I think its valid. I love this particular Starbucks. There's a fireplace, lots of room, and even when it's busy, I still feel like there's room. Compared to, let's say the UVillage Starbucks, this one is just as large, but tables are spaced out better. I just don't feel as cramped here. My only negative, with many Starbucks, is sometimes the wi-fi is a little slow. Right now it's working just fine, as I write this review though haha. But other than that, I'm here to get some work done and my caffeine fix. For regular visits, I tend to get iced coffee with white mocha syrup - it's delicious! read more

Have you heard of the Clover machine? I had my very first run-in with it, and was mighty intrigued. Apparently Madison Park Starbucks is one of the few Starbucks to have it. According to the barista, it makes the perfect cup of brewed coffee through the miracles of surface area, water temperature control, vacuum sealed pistons, an extremely super-fine screen for filtering, perfect timing, and small batch, freshly ground, high quality beans. How much you ask? (As I did.) $3.45 for a 12 oz. cup of what is essentially DRIP COFFEE. WTF? I would NEVER pay that much for a cup of coffee! (Well, a cup of coffee that doesn't come with flavored syrup and steamed milk in it - yum!) But they HAVE to charge so much because the damned Clover machine costs $11,000.00! And it takes about 4 minutes to make ONE CUP OF BLACK COFFEE. Sounds like Starbucks got ripped off, and now they're trying to pass that thievery on to their customers. Anyways, the Clover-made coffee is pretty good... I'm much more curious than principled, so I ended up buying a cup. I liked it. I may even buy another sometime. I'm always torn when it comes to Starbucks. I think I'd rather support smaller, local coffee-shops, instead of The mega-corporate coffee-shop, but on many occasions my caffeine addiction is a LITTLE too strong, and I have to just go for it. Luckily, I am also the proud owner of weak morals and almost no ethics whatsoever, so compromising my ideals is really not THAT difficult. read more
