Worst customer service I've ever been at in a Starbucks. They made my coffee wrong and when I told him to please allow me to switch it, they wanted to charge me again for a 2nd cup of coffee. I said good morning to her 3 times (just trying to be polite) and she did not look at me, respond or even smile. She ignored me completely every time. If you're going to work in food service. We all know that Starbucks is often staffed with kind and compassionate human beings. The 1st Avenue store follows this trend nice, but I would argue they go above and beyond any expectations you could have. I am also somewhat of a gardener, and they participate in the Grounds for Your Garden program, which allows customers to pick up used coffee grounds for gardening and compost. I can always come here and expect to find several bags of grounds ready to be picked up. Their dedication to recycling is extraordinary. It's very obvious the staff is environmentally conscious. They go so far as to thank me for taking them. I find myself at this location three or four times a week. I have a somewhat convoluted coffee, so i understand that it can be inconsistently made. Not here. Every single drink comes our perfect every single time. I could not be more happy with this Starbucks. Easily the best location I've ever been to. read more

The incredibly friendly and attentive staff here bring the rating up to three. If it were not for them, I'd give it a one, because this is not a particularly enjoyable Starbucks location. St Pete, doing its best to be a 'big city', has a decent number of homeless folks in the vicinity of this Starbucks, and they are constantly coming in, spreading their belongings out, coughing without covering, etc. Pinellas already has a Hep A issue, so I'm sorry, but I don't really like homeless people in my chosen eating establishments. The bathroom has a pointless combo lock on it, and I say pointless because as we all know Starbucks policy is to no longer ask if someone is a paying customer, so they just give the code out to anyone who asks anyway. That of course has lead to a disgusting bathroom I won't use. Next up, the non-homeless expensive condo population of St Pete, who are also in close vicinity. That brings in a combo of either yoga pants and 'service animal' dog as an dress accessory, or male with AirPods talking about their next awe-inspiring business deal way too loudly. Finally, the place is kept ice cold and music loud, probably to encourage people to not stay too long. read more

After waiting more than half an hour for the food in our mobile order and seeing other food orders that were placed after ours start coming up, we (politely) asked if they could check to see if the rest of our order was still in the queue. The employee at the food warming station yelled that "it will come out when it comes out" and then stormed off into the back. We asked another worker if they could please just check - all refused. Ok, I understand you probably get asked that question a lot and that you're busy, but so are your customers. A simple request to get a sense of expected wait time is not unreasonable. Great location (meaning it's right downtown St. Pete) and really have to love almost any Starbucks! The employees are really nice and does a good job. However it can be hard to find a parking and this Starbucks is pretty crowded at most times (downtown, huh). There are only few nice tables and they are taken for hours by people who sip on a drink and study on their computers. So it's a no no for finding a nice table, but yes yes for getting my morning coffee... until I get my own Starbucks machine on Black Friday sale for $59. Yeeeey:) read more

4*/5* not bec of staff (they're 5*). The loss of star is for corporate's heavy hand in creating waste twice. 1) They don't recycle. They don't even try. Big company like SB throwing cups away by the 100's daily, per store. Do the math on that. Imagine a Costco dumping out a truckload of cups into the landfills. 2) Food is discarded per corporate BS. The expiration date on a wrapped sandwich is today, the sandwich is unsold FOR FULL VALUE, then its trashed. No 1/2 price last hour. No "buy $3+ coffee and get free sandwich". No "receipt lottery" 1 hour before close (name on receipt, goes into hat, pull the winner) No donation to shelter or company. They can't even wrap it in a separate trash bag and leave it next to trash pile. Compared to Coffee Bean in California that announced, 15 mins to close, that the following sandwiches have today's expiration date and anyone who wishes to take them may do so. They were good sandwiches. Not $6 ones but $3.50 ones. Starbucks is so corporate that they waste stuff left and right. The staff is usually as wooden as Pinocchio- this location was different (dude with full beard knows his stuff and is chiller than a morgue corpse) Recycle. The service and staff at this store is unmatched. We had a great first interaction, great conversation with the barista at handoff, and then after I spilled my entire coffee in my car, they provided a wet and dry rag and gave me a replacement coffee. They were so sweet and helpful. read more

This location is probably my favorite location so far. For being in the heart of Downtown St. Pete, it is never overly-crowded, which I definitely appreciate, seeing as I'm usually needing to sit down and do some work. I'm not sure if it's because of my purple hair (it probably is), but the staff seems to remember me, which just gives this place a home-y kind of feel. As for the menu, it's standard. As we've come to expected with Starbucks there are no issues with their coffee or other items. But this place was pretty dirty.
