There was a very friendly employee there where I ordered and when I picked up, they were actually happy that they were working there and that was great ! Stopped in to this Starbucks for the Fireworks Frappuccino before it's gone from the menu. In general, Starbucks' coffee tends to be too strong for my own personal taste. However their blended specialty drinks are perfect especially for the summer. This very hot, muggy day seemed like a great day for this seasonal speciality blended Frappuccino. This particular Starbucks seemed just average. The place was clean and organized with about ten other customers sitting with their drinks. Some with friends & family and some alone. Looking at my photo, you'd never know that the lighting was very dark so it didn't have a lively vibe. I don't remember any music. The service was a bit slower than I'm used to. The cashier was chatting it up with someone who is clearly a regular. I really do like it when customers are treated like this. What I don't like is when other customers are basically ignored till they're ready. In this case, it was quite some time before I was even acknowledged. A simple, "I'll be with you in a moment" or "let me take this order quick and we can continue chatting" would have made a world of difference to me. Once my order was in, my drink was out very quickly. Despite the drink not looking like the advertised photo, it was indeed delicious and hit the spot! I had thought it was going to be too sweet but wanted to try it before it was gone from the menu because it's a 4th of July limited specialty beverage. P.S. While I was waiting to be acknowledged, I had plenty of time to look around. I've seen this before at other Starbucks. They offer FREE used coffee grinds for your garden. read more

Plenty of seating/tables, good wifi, outlets, bathroom, and friendly enough service the times I have been at this location. Not too loud with the music. Not a great start to the day, many employees but there still seem to be a lot of confusion and delays happening. My coffee was done for about 5 min before my egg bites came out. Then when I went to grab my coffee it was about half full. When I told them something went wrong they said it was the milk foam that caused the problem and remade it for me. This has never happened before. There were two additional people also having problems with their orders. Less employee inter chit chat and stronger management may alleviate these issues. read more

Very generic Starbucks, I went here with Marvin to study the other day and it was almost completely empty. I love the huge painting on the wall that takes up almost the entire space, it adds a really nice touch and personality to the Starbucks. We ordered a salted caramel macchiato to share but it didn't really taste right to us. I did not drink my drink when I immediately got it (I have Invisalign so I was waiting to get home to remove them). I get home and this is what I see. Really? So I'm currently standing in line waiting to order my drink, and I've been waiting over 10 minutes already, with 3 people in front of me. There's one girl taking the orders and getting coffee and tea, and one guy making the drinks, moving so slow that I'm honestly contemplating walking out. I would be able to see past this, except it's clear that the store is being audited or inspected or something, and one person in an apron is talking to the inspector and someone else with their baby behind the counter is talking to them, not helping and making the process take forever. If there's only 2 people, I get it, things take longer, but when you see people just standing around doing nothing, that's when it starts getting frustrating. read more

I'm a big fan of this Starbucks. The staff is great and will always hook you up with an extra shot of espresso if you ask nicely. If you don't like something, they'll make you a new drink- free of charge. The food is well stocked and I can always have my whole grain bagel with low-fat cream cheese, whereas in other locations it's always out. This is a great place right off Stony Brook's campus for students to come study, since the on-campus Starbucks has lines that are out the door. read more

I love this Starbucks! All the staff are super friendly and they make you feel like you're at a real coffee shop, not a fast food restaurant. Because, let's remember, coffee shops are NOT fast food, and you should not expect them to behave like that. If your drink is not made to your liking, they remake it instantly, free of charge. This location is near Stony Brook University, so there are always lots of students here, sometimes with outrageous expectations to be quiet for their studying, which is unrealistic since it's not intended solely for students. This Starbucks is really close to where I live, and funny enough I'd never visited before! I made the trip with my girlfriend on a Friday afternoon, and we were pleasantly surprised by the short wait time. That being said, the drink quality was totally off. I ordered a vanilla bean frappucino, and I could barely taste it because of the sheer amount of ice added. Unfortunately, I'd ordered a venti, so I ended up consuming what felt like a tray full of ice cubes before it was over. If you're a Starbucks addict, I suggest visiting elsewhere. read more

If imagining the location, think more St. James than Stony Brook area. It's right on the 'border.' Staff were friendly and helped me find what I was looking for for my sister (some new coffee to go thing). Shelves were stocked unlike many other Starbucks, and the place seemed clean. "Mr. Met's" words ring true though. For 10PM on a weekend it did seem very dark inside, however, there was plenty of seating, and combined with the quiet atmosphere I did not really mind it. A spacious, clean SBux with super friendly service awaited me and my tired self after having driven about 200 miles already. It's an average Starbucks. I agree with some other reviews, it's kinda dark inside. There was a decent amount of seating. When I went here I was trying to read, found a seat and got my coffee. The patrons were all chatting, studying, tutoring quietly, however in the 3 hours I spent here the employees were crazy, rambunctiously loud! I couldn't see them from where I was sitting but they frequently had outbursts, yelling, laughing and carrying on, I'm glad they like their job, and their co-workers, but come on... some of us are clearly here to read/study. It was unfortunate how distracting it was. I like Starbucks but may not come back here to study. I need some more quiet. read more

Smaller, less cozy setting. Very gloomy, not enough lighting for reading. Not recommended for studying - more for just sipping coffee. Somehow, this is the preferred starbucks over the one in East Setauket. I like the East Setauket one much better No problems with their drinks - consistent. Bathroom clean, customer service decent. My wife and I stopped here this afternoon 3:10 for coffee large white male blond& 2 females behind the counter.it's not the fact that the personalities were of a stone it's not the fact that they screwed up my wife's drink (made her iced instead of hot) it's not the fact that when we got back to our nice warm car to drink our coffees I discovered they got mine wrong as well. But it is in fact that when I went back in not only did I catch an attitude but they had my correct drink under the counter which they handed to me for all I know somebody else could have drank from it.I was so mad I just took it and left. Been stopping by every few days before work to grab myself and staff some morning coffee and breakfast and I have to say this store even when busy are still polite, quick and efficient with getting orders out and doing so with a smile and pleasant attitude about it all.
